Make Government Small Again

Make Government Small Again

The main difference between the public and private sector is the assumption of responsibility. Imagine that, after watching a lively YouTube tutorial, you decide to go and do your first prostate operation with no prior knowledge. In the public sector, the patient undergoing your prostate operation is just another unhappy individual, just another number. If you want to lower taxes, you have to cut government spending. In contrast, in the private sector, the prostate you will be operating on is your own. Something tells me that you will operate more responsibly in the private sector. In fact, something tells me that you will admit that you are not sufficiently prepared to poke around with a scalpel in such a delicate area and you will end up giving up. I have had an aversion to bureaucracy ever since I was a child. Now that everyone is looking for a reason to be a victim, I can say it: I suffer from bureaucracy-phobia. I see an official form with a government stamp on it and my hair stands on end like George Soros’ bank account, a hellish and destructive burning rises up from my feet to my head, and I feel like immolating myself inside some federal registry. Without reaching the pathological European madness, the United States has a huge bureaucracy problem. Thousands of operations that in real life would only take 15 minutes, are prolonged for days and days in the public administration, in the government. (READ MORE from Itxu Diaz: Ten Priorities for Trump’s New Administration) Companies have to dedicate themselves to making money. Citizens have to dedicate themselves to their work and their families. The government has to stop bothering us. We don’t even ask for help (when the government helps you, it charges you at a premium first, and then, if it goes wrong, it’s nobody’s fault or, even worse, it’s yours). The government is supposed to invent subsidies to solve problems, anyone who hears this will think it is a nice story. However, is anyone checking to see if, besides sounding nice, it is actually solving the problem? Moreover, if it is solving the problem, is anyone looking to see if it is not collaterally causing ten new problems? Subsidies don’t work, they disincentivize, they scare money away, they scare investors, and they make idiots out of most of the subsidized. Part of the government’s job is to right wrongs, and sometimes a subsidy is necessary to do that, I admit, but it should be the damn exception, and be as closed, ring-fenced, and policed as our money is by the IRS. After the reduction of bureaucracy and the elimination of subsidies, the third essential part of putting the government on a diet is the reduction of taxes. Subsidies and taxes are two sides to the same obesity. The fourth part is the reduction of public spending. If you want to lower taxes, you have to cut government spending, otherwise, the economy could go into cardiac arrest and the result would be a disaster, because 15 Democrat economists emerge the following day screaming like crazy, “See, I told you. Lower taxes don’t work.” Krugman would come out two weeks later saying the same thing as if it were news. And the fifth part of an emergency action plan against government obesity is the simplification of laws. Nothing makes the citizen feel more harassed than the proliferation of stupid laws. Freedom is important. But the feeling of freedom is sometimes even more important. Get rid of all those junk laws, all the ideological muck, all that boring legal verbiage, and let individuals make their own choices again. Trump and Musk now plan to reissue Reagan’s Grace Commission, but intend on getting it right this time; that is, that in addition to detecting waste, someone will then try to eliminate it. Actually, I think this tandem will have a much easier time than Reagan did. First, because the government has grown considerably fatter, which means that it is full of excess fat. And second because of a circumstantial issue: in a few months, Trump will have access to the Government and will be able to check with his own eyes all that is left over, cut it up, and pile it in a corner. Musk, for his part, has a company that sends things into space. You can come to your own conclusions there! (READ MORE: The Mutation of Stupidity) Let’s start a prayer chain for Trump to use his sharpest scissors and for Musk to send all the leftover government fat into space. But not to near space where his satellites operate. No. Far beyond, to the end of the universe, to where Cleopatra lost the snake, to a place where Democrats can’t get to in a few years and bring all the crap back. Election Aftermath in California

Election Aftermath in California

On November 5, California voters approved Proposition 36, which reforms the 2014 Proposition 47, the “Safe Neighborhoods and Schools Act,” so named by then-state attorney general Kamala Harris, which looked the other way at theft of property valued at less than $950. So once again crime is illegal in the Golden State, but voters weren’t done. (READ MORE from Lloyd Billingsley: California’s Identity Problem) They rejected Proposition 5, which would have reduced the two-thirds vote to pass bonds to 55 percent, making property tax hikes more likely. The ballot measure was an attack on the “People’s Initiative to Limit Property Taxation,” the famous Proposition 13 from 1978. As the media failed to note, a similar measure had qualified for the November 5 ballot, but Gov. Gavin Newsom and Gov. Jerry Brown teamed up against the voters. The Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act gave voters the final approval on future taxes and fees imposed by state and local governments. Newsom and Brown claimed the measure was a “revision” rather than an amendment to the state constitution, a distinction without a difference. The Newsom-compliant state supreme court agreed, and cut out the voters. The results of the vote for president provoked strong reactions from state politicians. Gov. Newsom called a special legislative session to “Trump-proof” California, “safeguard California values,” and so forth. Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas wanted a piece of the action. After an October 27 NFL game, San Francisco 49ers pass rusher Nick Bosa crashed a television interview while wearing a MAGA hat. Speaker Rivas expressed the hope that 49er owner “trades Nick Bosa to Mar-A-Lago.” So far, no deals for Bosa in the works. Fans had to wonder why Rivas, who claims to be a lifelong 49er fan, kept quiet after 49ers rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall was shot in the chest during a robbery in downtown San Francisco. Gov. Newsom and Kamala Harris, a former San Francisco district attorney and state attorney general, failed to decry the August 31 shooting as “gun violence.” As it turns out, Speaker Rivas’ brother Rick is a member of the California Coastal Commission, an appointed body that overrides scores of elected city and county governments on land-use issues. The Commission recently voted to block Elon Musk’s SpaceX launches from Vandenberg Space Force Base in Santa Barbara County. The commissioners claimed it was all about protecting coastal flora and fauna, but let slip that they objected to Musk speaking out on the election. Musk responded with a lawsuit, and president-elect Trump has now tasked him to help trim the federal bureaucracy. California could use some of that but recently got help on the crime front. California Crime Revolt Los Angeles County voters booted criminal-friendly district attorney George Gascon, to the delight of crime victims and police officers statewide. LA voters also tossed Los Angeles city councilman Kevin de Leon, who once served as California’s Senate president pro-tem. On his watch, in 2017, the senate held an event for New Left icon Tom Hayden, a former state senator and husband of actress Jane Fonda, who supported the Communist regime in Vietnam. (READ MORE from Lloyd Billingsley: Government Efficiency Is a Tall Order for Musk) Republican Janet Nguyen, a refugee from that regime, spoke out against Hayden. Senate Democrats first cut off her microphone, and when she continued to speak had her escorted out of the senate chamber. De Leon described Hayden as a “maverick,” an “independent thinker,” and “a true progressive.” That same year, de Leon began to claim that his father was a Chinese cook born in Guatemala, a story nobody had ever heard. In 2018 de Leon failed to replace Sen. Dianne Feinstein, but in 2020 he gained a seat on the LA city council. In 2022, he was heard on tape comparing the black adopted son of fellow council member to “a Louis Vuitton bag.” De Leon survived a recall attempt but has now lost to newcomer Ysabel Jurado. The former state senate boss could possibly run for governor in 2026, perhaps as a bi-racial “Latinobama” figure. Based on his recent actions, Gov. Newsom may set his sights on the White House in 2028. As Trump likes to say, we’ll have to wait and see what happens. Lloyd Billingsley is a policy fellow at the Independent Institute in Oakland, California. The post Election Aftermath in California appeared first on The American Spectator | USA News and Politics.

MY FAVORITE LIBERAL

We could use more common sense liberals like Bill Maher. Not only is he one of the harshest and funniest critics of Islam, he puts leftists in their place when they need to be.

UK: Lincolnshire Christmas Market CANCELLED due to Islamic terrorism threats

As Muslims have long been saying, “First the Saturday people, then the Sunday people.” Is anyone surprised? And now in Australia…the official unveiling of Myer’s Christmas windows in Melbourne on Sunday has been cancelled after a pro-Hamas protest was organized to disrupt the event.
