Easy Pear Sangria

This Easy Pear Sangria recipe is simple, crisp, and refreshingly delicious! It’s perfect for gatherings, as you can easily make a pitcher several hours before guests arrive.  Ginger/pear is a classic taste bud combination, and it’s one of our favorites! In This Article Why This Recipe Stands OutKey Recipe IngredientsSubstitutions And VariationsEasy Recipe InstructionsHow To Prep AheadCommonly Asked QuestionsEasy Pear Sangria RecipeMore To Mix And Drink View more This post may contain affiliate links, at no additional cost to you. Why This Recipe Stands Out Many people favor Sangria over all other cocktails. We get it … 200%  get it. Here’s why we love this Easy Pear Sangria: Can Be Made in Advance: Pear sangria is an easy make-ahead drink that allows us to sit back, relax, and mingle at gatherings. Pears Combined with Ginger: If you’ve never experienced the pear/ginger flavor combo, you’re in for a treat. The mild, sweetness of pears blends amazingly with the sharp ginger flavor. Finally, a Pear Recipe: Pears rarely get the attention that apples and pumpkin get, so we’re always excited to enjoy this underrated fruit in drinks and desserts like this Pear Bread. Makes You Look Like a Pro: Like most of our Easy Cocktail Recipes, this pear Sangria couldn’t be simpler to make. Even if you have no drink mixing experience, you’ll look like a pro! Key Recipe Ingredients Riesling – Grab your favorite brand of Riesling for this recipe. The mild, flowery flavor is perfect for Easy Pear Sangria. Pear Juice – 100% pear juice is responsible for this drink’s crisp, refreshing pear flavor. Cointreau – Cointreau, orange-flavored liquor, brings a kick of bright, citrus flavor to this drink. Pear – Thinly sliced, fresh pear is added to the drink an hour before serving to infuse it with even more sweet, crisp pear goodness. Orange – Along with the pear slices, we add fresh orange slices to brighten up this Sangria even more. Ginger Ale – Ginger Ale brings the spicy, sharp ginger taste to the table as well as adding sweetness and carbonation to pear sangria. Substitutions And Variations Here are some of our favorite Sangria variations for any event: Use Apples Instead: Swap the fresh, crisp pear juice for a spiced apple cider. Check out our recipe for Easy Apple Cider Sangria for the perfect fall beverage. Make a Summer Sangria: If you’re seeing this recipe in the summer and have more peaches and berries than you know what to do with, we highly recommend this recipe for the Best Summer Berry Sangria. Use a Dry Red Wine: While we love the milder, fruity flavor of the Riesling in this recipe, you can totally make a red wine-based Sangria too! Check out our recipe for The Best Sangria for the best red-wine cocktail. Easy Recipe Instructions In a pitcher, stir together Riesling, pear juice, Cointreau, and ground ginger. Chill for at least 2-4 hours. 1 hour before serving, add some of the slices of pear and orange to the pitcher. When ready to serve, slowly add Ginger Ale to the mixture. Serve over ice, garnished with remaining fruit slices. Enjoy! For full list of ingredients and instructions, see recipe card below. How To Prep Ahead One of our favorite perks to this recipe is that it’s best made the night before – perfect for busy holidays and gatherings. Here’s how to make it in advance: Mix Drink the Night Before: All the liquids in Easy Pear Sangria (except the Ginger Ale) can be mixed in a serving pitcher the night before and stored in the fridge. Cut Fruit in Advance: Even the fruit can be sliced the night before. To prevent the pears from oxidizing and getting brown, we sprinkle some lemon juice over them and store them in an airtight container. Keep Ingredients Chilled: We like our drinks extra cold. So, making sure we have enough ice cubes ready to go and keeping the Ginger Ale chilled overnight is a must. Commonly Asked Questions How long will Easy Pear Sangria last after everything is mixed in. It’s best to enjoy Easy Pear Sangria as soon as possible after mixing in the Ginger Ale, because it will lose it’s carbonation fairly quickly after that. What exactly is Sangria? Sangria is an alcoholic drink that originated in Spain and Portugal. It consists of a wine mixed with spirits, fruit, and usually an additional sweetener such as fruit juice. For a more in-depth look at Sangria, check out our recipe for The Best Sangria. What is the best variety of pear to use in Sangria? Really any pear works just fine in this recipe; but Bartlett and Bosc pears are especially great, because they’ll hold up well when mixed with the wine and other ingredients. What’s a good replacement for the Cointreau if I don’t like orange flavor. You can always replace the Cointreau with something like rum, vodka, or brandy if you don’t want the citrus flavor.
