Texas police arrest 5 suspects who allegedly attacked 82-year-old in one of many 'jugging' robberies

Texas police said they tracked down five suspects who committed a series of "jugging" robberies‚ including one involving an 82-year-old man who was left bloodied and beaten. The victim‚ who wanted to keep his identity private‚ told KPRC-TV that he was attacked in a parking lot in Pearland after he went to the bank. Surveillance video showed the attacker hop out of a white car and run toward the man‚ then run back to the car after only 10 seconds. “I was disoriented‚” the victim recalled. “It was so fast that when I turned around‚ they have already gone.”He said he was hit on the neck behind his neck and the robber stole his wallet containing $400. Pearland Police Officer Chad Rogers said that the crew appeared to be operating numerous "jugging" incidents between October and November. The cash stolen added up to about $15‚000. “They were watching people going in and out of the bank‚ looking for people that were leaving the bank with money bags in their hands or the envelopes the cash is in‚" he explained. The group used rental cars and temporary tags in order to elude detection‚ but police were able to utilize footage from license-plate reading cameras in order to find them. Rogers said that all of the victims were over the age of 60 years. “The elderly were targeted‚ but this could be anybody. It’s really about just situational awareness‚” he explained. The suspects were given bonds ranging from $500‚000 to $750‚000 after being charged with engaging in organized criminal activity. They are currently being detained at the Brazoria County Jail. The victim said he was glad they were arrested and offered advice to others to avoid jugging attacks. “Be very careful. When you are in any parking lot anywhere‚ look around constantly‚” he said. VIDEO: Armed mob attacks and robs woman then returns to beat her again after bystanders refuse to help her

Surveillance video captured a mob beating up and robbing a woman walking on a Chicago road before coming back to brutalize her again after bystanders refuse to help her. The harrowing incident unfolded at about 4:20 a.m. on Jan. 31 when the 35-year-old woman was walking on Lawrence Avenue in Jefferson Park on her way to work. Adriana spoke to WLS-TV about the attack. Video shows a car pulling up to the woman and four men jumping out and surrounding her. She says they had guns and threatened her while taking her property‚ including her cellphone and wallet. "The pistol. The three of them had guns. They pointed at her head‚ her neck‚" said the victim's daughter. Adriana‚ her husband‚ and their 12-year-old watched the video of the brutal attack with tears streaming down their faces. The video shows the mob getting back into their car and speeding away. The woman tried to flag down cars and a Chicago Transit bus to ask for help‚ but no one stopped. And that's when the attackers appeared to come back. Video shows one assailant appear to punch her. "They told her they were going to shoot her if she didn't give them the pin‚" said Adriana's daughter. "The next time they came‚ she thought they were going to kill her for the same thing." Adriana was transported to a hospital and was reported to be in good condition. She told WLS that she survived by focusing on her husband and daughter. Residents in the area said the incident had them concerned about their safety. "It worries me‚ so now‚ I end up staying basically at home once the sun goes down‚" said Dawn Hughes.Police said they were investigating but so far‚ had no information about any potential suspects.
