Director Tim Burton will team up with best-selling “Gone Girl” author Gillian Flynn to remake the 1958 sci-fi horror film “Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman.” The project will be released with Warner Bros. Studios‚ according to a report from Variety. The outlet noted how Burton will serve as the film’s director while Flynn is responsible for crafting the script.  In the original movie‚ a woman grows to gigantic proportions after an encounter with an alien‚ and she uses her new size to get revenge on her unfaithful husband. The original 1958 “Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman” featured Allison Hayes‚ William Hudson‚ and Yvette Vickers in leading roles. It had a production of $88‚000‚ the outlet noted. The original film currently has a 71% critic score and 21% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s also not immediately apparent what changes will be incorporated into the remake. The movie was remade in 1993 by HBO with Christopher Guest serving as director. There were also several failed or abandoned remakes prior to that‚ and a few spinoffs‚ including a parody called “Attack of the 60 Foot Centerfold” (1995) and a 3D film called “Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader” in 2012. Flynn is no stranger to Hollywood. The 52-year-old author wrote and produced the HBO limited series adaptation of another one of her books‚ “Sharp Objects‚” which earned her an Emmy nomination and the Writers Guild of America Award. Flynn was also co-writer on the screenplay for “Widows” (2018) and wrote the screenplay for David Fincher’s 2014 thriller “Gone Girl‚” which was based on her book. The Harvard Kennedy School  is set to host a Palestinian professor who called Hamas’ massacre of Israeli civilians a “normal struggle for freedom‚” and said she would never forgive Israel’s government for “making us take their children and elderly as hostages.” Dalal Saeb Iriqat‚ a professor of diplomacy and conflict resolution at the Arab American University in Ramallah is set to speak at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center as part of its Middle East Dialogues series on March 7‚ 2024.  On Oct. 7‚ while terrorists were still slaughtering Israeli civilians in the Gaza envelope‚ Iriqat justified the attack. “The world tolerated watching >;35000 Palestinian youth seek refuge via territorial waters‚ putting their lives at risk‚ choosing to drawn in the sea over their miserable lives in a big prison called #Gaza after 17 yrs Israeli siege [sic]‚” she posted to X‚ formerly Twitter. “Today is just a normal human struggle 4 #Freedom.” Dalal Saeb Iriqat’s post to Twitter on Oct. 7 calling Hamas’s attack a “normal struggle 4 freedom.”Shortly after‚ she said Palestinians “have the right to defend themselves‚” adding the she was “shocked that the world is shocked!” A few hours later‚ she condemned those issuing statements in support of Israel as its people were under attack. “Statements of support to @netanyahu far right Israeli Gov can only fuel more state organized terror and more impunity to Israel’s continued #crimes &; collective punishment against the Palestinian civilians‚” she posted to X. The Israel Police slammed Haaretz’s article‚ which claims an unnamed police source said an IDF helicopter “apparently harmed a few partygoers who were in the area‚” reported the Times of Israel. On December 31‚ she said the conflict isn’t Israel versus Hamas.  “This is not an Israel Hamas conflict‚” she posted. “Israel is waging a series of #war_crimes against the Palestinians‚ this is not against Hamas‚ this is against the Palestinian right of self determination‚” she wrote. “I urge everyone to refrain from the framing of Israel/Hamas or Israel/Gaza‚ this is Israel Vs Palestine!!” Iriqat also posted a cartoon of soldiers shooting on top of a wall displaying a Jewish star combined with a swastika. Christopher Nolan is reflecting on the overwhelming success of his epic biographical film‚ “Oppenheimer‚” and what it means for the future of the movie industry. The 53-year-old British filmmaker made his thoughts known during an appearance on the “Countdown to the BAFTAS” podcast‚ as Variety reported. Nolan talked about how the movie’s box office success proves that movie fans are willing to return to theaters in person and that they’re not only looking for superhero and franchise films. “Everybody has a tendency to talk down the movie business‚” he said. “Really for the whole time I think I’ve been working in movies‚ I felt the sort of cultural establishment always predicting the demise of movie theaters. BREAKING NEWS: The City of Southlake‚ Texas‚ is reeling over the recent uptick in thefts attributed to a porch pirate. The most recent incident was caught on a porch surveillance camera. The video is on the Southlake DPS Facebook page. As the footage unfolds‚ we see a little critter stealthily walking onto the porch to abscond with the package. No clear identification of the suspect has been made. If you recognize this marsupial master thief‚ don’t hesitate to contact authorities. We created an enlarged image of the perpetrator‚ but there don’t appear to be any striking identifying characteristics. Image from Facebook. From the sleek appearance‚ we can assume this porch pirate has honed their body to withstand a life on the run. He doesn’t have the slightly roundish abdominal area of most opossum bandits. As the video continues‚ we watch our thief approach the package with the nose of a seasoned professional. Image from Facebook. After determining that the contents of this package would be worth the effort‚ our wily little porch pirate went to work. It took some effort to extract the sizable package of cookies‚ but our determined bandit was a workhorse. After stopping a few times to regrip the package‚ the opossum cookie thief was able to make their escape. Image from Facebook. According to the Southlake DPS Facebook post‚ this incident took place on January 26. The day was notable as it was the 15th birthday of the son of homeowner Dr. M. The package contained cookies from Tiff’s Treats. The only evidence that the delivery had occurred was the never-deflating balloon and a package of icing that the opossum cookie thief left behind. The family discovered the nefarious porch pirate when they checked the footage the following morning. Be On The Lookout For This Porch Pirate Southlake DPS has issued a Be on the Lookout (BOLO) notice for this porch pirate. They describe the villain as short in stature‚ with an elongated‚ slender body and a prehensile tail. The opossum is a marsupial and a master of disguise. They may attempt to fool you by wearing a costume comprised of tiny baby opossums on their backs. The picture below is an example of a possible altered appearance. Image from Flickr. They will blend in with most surroundings due to the grayish fur and low profile. If cornered‚ you will notice a mouth full of sharp little teeth. Their typical diet consists of ticks and other ground-dwelling bugs. As mentioned‚ they do sometimes carry babies‚ but not rabies. In many instances‚ they will “play dead” to avoid detection.
