A small rock called 2024 BJ will fly past Earth and the Moon in just a few days. It was discovered only last week‚ on January 17‚ and will approach our planet on Saturday‚ January 27. The object is estimated to be 25 meters (82 feet) across and is a near-earth object. It won’t get anywhere close to us this week – at least‚ relatively speaking.While the flyby is close in cosmic terms‚ 2024 BJ is flying 353‚000 kilometers (220‚000 miles) away. That’s 92 percent of the average distance between the Earth and the Moon. The object will first approach the Moon (although even further away than our planet) at around 2 pm UTC and then reach its close passage to Earth about three and a half hours later. After years of speculation and controversy‚ the occupants of three tombs belonging to the family of Alexander the Great have finally been identified. Located in the Great Tumulus of Vergina in northern Greece‚ the burials contain the remains of Alexander’s father‚ stepmother‚ half-siblings‚ and son‚ along with armor and other items belonging to the man himself.First excavated in 1977‚ the tombs are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and‚ according to the authors of a new study‚ “contained an astoundingly rich array of burial goods.” However‚ while there’s never been any doubt that the interred bones belonged to close relatives of Alexander‚ scholars have spent almost half a century bickering over who exactly lies within each grave.To figure out who’s who‚ the study authors combined osteological analyses‚ macrophotography‚ X-rays‚ and anatomical dissections of the ancient remains with historical sources from the ancient past. In doing so‚ they discovered that Tomb I contained the bones of a man with an injured knee‚ as well as a woman and a baby‚ who was just days or weeks old at the time of death.They therefore conclude that the male figure was King Philip II of Macedon - Alexander the Great’s father - who was known to have a limp. The extremely young age of the infant also lines up perfectly with the story of Philip’s assassination in 336 BCE.According to most sources‚ Philip II was slain by his bodyguard just a few days after his wife Cleopatra had given birth. It’s thought that the murder was ordered by Philip’s previous wife Olympias‚ the mother of Alexander the soon-to-be Great.Almost immediately after the assassination‚ Olympias then killed both Cleopatra and her baby - possibly by burning them alive - thus clearing the way for Alexander to succeed the throne. As the probe about the pipe bomb found on Jan. 6‚ 2021‚ at Democratic National Committee headquarters continues to gain traction‚ Blaze News investigative journalist Steve Baker and others are asking an all-important question: What does the U.S. government have to hide?What are the details?Baker — as part his ongoing analyses regarding the truth about Jan. 6 — last week broke new ground in the pipe bomb story: He asserted that the individual who found the alleged explosive device at DNC headquarters in Washington‚ D.C.‚ wasn't a "passerby‚" as had been endlessly parroted — the person was a United States Capitol Police plainclothes officer.Baker noted that "multiple congressional staffers familiar with the investigation" confirmed this with Blaze News in the face of the FBI stonewalling inquiries into the individual's identity.Video posted to the YouTube channel of U.S. Rep. The Public story also said the FBI released CCTV videos and photos of the pipe bomb suspect "holding a cell phone and possibly texting" — which would make it easy for the FBI to identify the cell phone user. However‚ Shellenberger and Gutentag revealed that data from the phone company that could have identified the suspected bomber was "mysteriously corrupted."More from their Public report: The FBI claims that the pipe bomb was planted at the DNC on the night of January 5‚ 2021. Yet given Harris’ presence at the DNC‚ it is very likely that the Secret Service would have conducted a security sweep‚ possibly with a bomb-sniffing dog‚ upon her arrival on January 6‚ when the bomb was supposedly already on the premises. An independent security analyst who has worked for senior elected officials‚ including on Capitol Hill‚ wrote a Comprehensive Threat Analysis of the alleged pipe bombs‚ which Public obtained. Interviewed by Zoom‚ the expert‚ who asked that their name not be used‚ said‚ “Something had to have happened to not to have found the bomb‚ or it wasn’t there on the night of the 5th. Had they conducted a regular security sweep‚ they 100% would have found the bomb. It’s in plain sight. You’d have to be blind not to find it. And if you had a dog? Give me a break.”The expert found it highly implausible that the Secret Service did not do a sweep. “I can’t believe the Secret Service would put Vice President some place and not do a security sweep. However‚ a judiciary committee must first decide to advance LD 1735. That hearing was initially scheduled for last week but is now set for 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. "We stopped this bill in Maine last year around this time and they quietly tried to sneak it in this year again. They almost snuck it by us‚" said Lui. "And we brought a lot of heat." Lui credits the attention his organization helped direct last week to LD 1735 and the resultant backlash for prompting the delay of the hearing. The official claim was that the hearing was postponed due to bad weather. "The first reason [for the delay] was that seven days is an eternity online‚ as you know‚ in the public‚ in the political sphere. They're hoping that at least 1‚000 stories will distract people by the time it comes around again‚" said Lui. "Secondly‚ it gives them time to reach out to the transgender hordes to give them some cover. While advocates for the bill might be better positioned this week‚ so are its opponents. Courage is a Habit‚ conservatives‚ and concerned parents in the state previously faced a squeeze when attempting to get the word out. The delay has‚ however‚ provided them with ample runway to get a concerted pressure campaign off the ground. The parental rights group has been imploring Americans in and outside Maine to seize this last opportunity to advise the committee members — state Sens. Eric Brakey (R)‚ Anne Carney (D)‚ and Donna Bailey (D) and Reps. Matt Moonen (D)‚ Amy Kuhn (D)‚ Adam Lee (D)‚ Stephen Moriarty (D)‚ and Erin Sheehan (D) — against giving their blessings to legislation that might separate countless children from their parents over a "social contagion." Courage is a Habit has simplified things by providing sample opposition letters and the email addresses of committee members on its website. Messages can be sent until Thursday‚ but Lui indicated that unless sent by Wednesday evening‚ it is unlikely they'll be read. LD 1735 resembles similar laws and executive orders in several other states‚ which have been characterized as a "kidnapping" bills. Lui alternatively figures LD 1735 for a "transgender trafficking bill." In addition to pushing confused children into the foster care system where their parents will be precluded from rescuing them‚ Lui suggested the bill would lead to interstate trafficking — by strangers who want to ferry kids to Maine for irreversible surgeries and for strangers who want to abduct kids on the pretense of ferrying them to Maine for such interventions. "Schools have already told these kids that their parents are unsafe and abusive and that their parents 'don't love you and that they're out to hurt you because they don't see you for who you really are‚'" said Lui. "Because they've already set the kids up to look at other people as their family‚ think about how easy it will be for a sex trafficker to go up to a girl‚ 14‚ 15‚ 16‚ 13‚ whatever‚ and say‚ 'I see you for who you are.' Call them by their right pronoun. Get them the right clothes. And say‚ 'I'll take you to Maine so that you can get the health care that you need. ... I'm your family now.'" "This bill is a sex trafficker's dream come true‚" added Lui. In the absence of criticism or pressure‚ Lui suggested the Democratic committee members might support LD 1735 reflexively because it comports with one of what he regards as the Democratic Party's animating theorems: critical race theory and queer theory. However‚ he intimated Democrats are unlikely to be so automatic and uncritical in cosigning the "trafficking bill" in the face of significant public outcry‚ hence his hope for critical mass in the pressure campaign under way. Six of the nine Supreme Court justices have been appointed by Republicans‚ yet red states are now being prevented by federal courts from keeping boys out of girls' bathrooms. What was the point of the generation-long battle for control of the high court? A three-judge panel for the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in August upheld a lower court ruling forcing the Metropolitan School District of Martinsville‚ Indiana‚ to allow people to enter the school bathrooms of their choice‚ not the one that matches their sex. At issue was a female student at John R. Wooden Middle School who believed she was a male and wanted to be granted access to the male bathrooms and male sports teams and be referred to in school as a male. The ruling would obviously apply to both genders in both directions and is binding in Indiana‚ Illinois‚ and Wisconsin. Gorsuch‚ Barrett‚ and Kavanaugh cannot hold a candle to the jurisprudence of Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. The Seventh Circuit affirmed a lower court ruling that gender-separate bathrooms violate Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 and the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment written in 1867 because‚ you know‚ legal equality for freed black slaves somehow translates into women being able to demand that the state treat them like men. Judge Dianne Wood‚ in her opinion on behalf of the Seventh Circuit‚ cited Justice Neil Gorsuch’s absurd opinion in Bostock v. Clayton County that incorporated “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” into the employment nondiscrimination dictates of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Not unreasonably‚ Wood concluded that if the alleged conservative justice was going to include transgenderism in a 1964 law‚ then why not also read it into the Education Amendments Act of 1972? Creating a right to switch-hit in bathrooms and stipulating that regulating gender-separate bathrooms is beyond the scope of state authority are absurd‚ especially after the court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization restored the “deeply rooted in history and tradition” standard for manufacturing an unenumerated fundamental right. Moreover‚ there is already a circuit split‚ with the Eleventh Circuit having reached a different decision on gender-split bathrooms in 2022. As such‚ it is downright appalling that an allegedly conservative Supreme Court would once again allow the transgender rainbow jihad to run roughshod over red-state policies indefinitely without hearing the appeal. Even in Judge Wood’s opinion‚ she predicted that “we assume that at some point the Supreme Court will step in with more guidance than it has furnished so far.” Well‚ in fact‚ the Republican appointees — namely Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh — want to wash their hands of all controversial questions‚ thereby allowing rogue lower court opinions to stand. Donald Trump observed recently that Democratic judges “go out of their way to hurt you‚” while Republican judges “go out of their way to show they’re not biased." Except it is his appointees who have continuously allowed lower court opinions to stand. Gorsuch‚ Barrett‚ and Kavanaugh cannot hold a candle to the jurisprudence of Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. Barrett and Kavanaugh have consistently allowed the lower courts to demand that red states promote a right to transgenderism while also allowing the states to regulate our bodily autonomy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Gorsuch‚ for his part‚ has been much better than the other two on COVID and in his willingness to hear appeals on other cases‚ but his Bostock decision was a disaster. As I warned in 2020 at the time of Bostock‚ “It's not even a jump to apply this ruling to that law (1972 Education Amendments Act); it’s a logical outgrowth. All separate-gender school activities and private dressing rooms are out the window because the 1972 law‚ which liberals already felt included transgenderism‚ will now be so interpreted.” In December‚ Gorsuch and Barrett‚ along with Chief Justice John Roberts‚ joined the court’s three liberals in denying an appeal from those challenging a wicked Washington state law banning counseling for kids suffering from gender dysphoria. Again‚ the justices ignored a critical issue despite a clear circuit split. A month earlier‚ Kavanaugh and Barrett denied Florida’s appeal after lower courts‚ in a trend across the nation‚ enjoined its law banning drag shows for minors.At the same time some of Trump’s appointees have allowed the creation of a right to transgenderism‚ they also have denied basic bodily autonomy rights. In November‚ Kavanaugh and Barrett joined with the liberal justices and denied an appeal from New Jersey nurses who were forced to get the dangerous COVID jab or lose their jobs in state hospitals. In 2021‚ this same pair denied emergency injunctive relief to New York health care workers who were being deprived of a religious liberty exemption from the state’s vaccine mandate. And of course‚ Kavanaugh crossed over to join the five liberals in upholding the Biden health care worker vaccine mandate in January 2022. Just this week‚ Barrett joined with the liberals to uphold the Biden administration’s ability to work with the cartels to clear the barriers that Texas has erected along the border with Mexico. The Supreme Court has now sided with the Biden administration in 11 of its 14 emergency applications for relief‚ often reversing the conservative Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. As for Barrett‚ given her support for the Illinois lockdown on the Seventh Circuit‚ it’s difficult not to conclude that she believes a state has the right to lock down its citizens and mandate poison in their bodies but lacks the right to stop a foreign invasion. The Dobbs decision has largely overshadowed all these other cases‚ including Kavanaugh’s opinion on redistricting that might well tip the House to the Democrats. In the coming years‚ however‚ it will become clear that not only is the Supreme Court a net liability at the federal level‚ but it is also preventing red states from being red. Perhaps there might be a bipartisan opportunity to limit the jurisdiction and scope of the federal judiciary after all. Oh‚ and if the primary strategy to win this election is for the Supreme Court to block Trump’s convictions‚ you might want to consider a contingency plan.
