The New York man suspected of killing at least three women in the Gilgo Beach area is expected to be charged this week with the murder of a fourth. The 60-year-old suspect‚ who The Daily Wire is not naming due to a policy regarding mass killers‚ is expected to be charged with the murder of Maureen Brainard-Barnes‚ according to NBC News. The man already has pleaded not guilty to the murders of Megan Waterman‚ Melissa Barthelemy‚ and Amber Costello‚ who were found on a beach along the south shore of Long Island‚ New York‚ back in 2010. Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney is expected to announce the new charges on Tuesday‚ and court documents pertaining to those charges will be unsealed at the same time. The man has always been the prime suspect in Brainard-Barnes’ murder‚ but authorities didn’t have the evidence to charge him with her death when he was charged with the other three murders. The suspect was arrested on July 13 for the murder of the three women. Six days after his arrest‚ his wife filed for divorce. She and other family members reportedly will receive $1 million for participating in a documentary series with Peacock. The project will follow the family’s lives as they cope with the upcoming trial and how it has uprooted their lives. Police investigating the Gilgo Beach serial killings are operating on the theory that the suspect committed the murders in his own home‚ a source told CNN. Authorities are operating under this theory‚ the source said‚ as they continue to search the suspect’s home for trace evidence of the victims. Killing them at his own home would have allowed him to control the environment while having easy access to the materials found along with the victims at Gilgo Beach‚ such as tape and burlap bags. Four bodies were found within days of each other. The body of Barthelemy was found on December 11‚ 2010‚ during a police training exercise with a K9‚ according to a bail application obtained by the Daily Beast. Two days later‚ police searched the area and discovered the three other bodies. If convicted‚ the suspect faces multiple life sentences without the possibility of parole.

In the final hours before the first-in-the-nation Iowa caucuses‚ the top 2024 Republican presidential candidates are making their pitches to convince voters why they would be the best to take on President Joe Biden. Ahead of the voting‚ former President Donald Trump has established a large lead in the polls over former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley‚ Florida Governor Ron DeSantis‚ and tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. Frigid temperatures and snow may impact turnout at the Monday caucus as the candidates urge their supporters to brave the elements for them.  During a rally on Sunday in Indianola‚ Trump told his supporters that Monday’s vote would be an opportunity to send a message to the D.C. establishment.  “These caucuses are your personal chance to score the ultimate victory over all of the liars‚ cheaters‚ thugs‚ perverts‚ frauds‚ crooks‚ freaks‚ creeps and other quite nice people‚” he said. “The Washington swamp has done everything in its power to take away your voice. Everybody else is going down‚ and that’s a great thing‚” she said. “But the real poll‚ you know‚ is on caucus day. And what we’ve said is we just want to come out of Iowa looking strong. We want to come out of New Hampshire strong. We want to come out of South Carolina strong.” Ramaswamy‚ who also has spent a lot of time in Iowa‚ has predicted that he will be victorious.  “I think we’re going to win the Iowa caucus‚ and that’s going to propel us to the next phase of this race‚” he said. “The polls are totally off‚ many of the caucus-goers who are supporting us are first-time caucus-goers. I think that’s got the race set up exactly the way we want it. The expectations are set moderately for me‚ but we’re going to shatter those expectations.” The caucus starts at 8:00 p.m. EST Monday‚ with only registered Republicans having the opportunity to vote. Iowa Democrats will not be voting on Monday‚ but will be casting ballots by mail. The ballots started to go out on January 12 and will be accepted until Super Tuesday on March 5. Former Maryland GOP Governor Larry Hogan endorsed former South Carolina Governor and United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley for president on the eve of the Iowa caucuses‚ calling her the “best possible candidate” for the Republican Party in November. Hogan told CNN on Sunday that he thinks “it’s pretty clear” that former President Donald Trump will win Iowa — as polling leading up to the first-in-the-nation caucuses has indicated — but he noted that for the past 24 years the GOP winner of the Hawkeye State has not become the nominee. “So it’s really about the fight for second place‚” Hogan said. Florida Governor “Ron DeSantis has put all the marbles on Iowa and spent all of his time and money and seems to be going in the wrong direction. I think Nikki Haley’s got all the momentum. And what this race is really all about is to try to nominate the strongest possible nominee for November‚” he continued. Over the past several months‚ RealClearPolitics (RCP) shows Haley’s polling average gradually ticked up to second place at 18.8% over the 15.7% for DeSantis. An investigator who has been trying to determine the true identity of infamous plane hijacker D.B. Cooper believes he has found “a compelling person of interest.” Eric Ulis‚ the star of “History’s Greatest Mysteries‚” has dedicated thousands of hours to researching the legendary D.B. Cooper‚ who in 1971 threatened to blow up a commercial jet‚ demanded $200‚000 in ransom‚ and then leaped from the plane with a parachute and was never seen again. Ulis now believes he has discovered a clue to Cooper’s real identity‚ Fox News reported. Cooper actually identified himself as “Dan” during the hijacking‚ but a reporter with the Oregon Journal misheard the name and reported it as “D.B.‚” leading to the legendary moniker. Authorities‚ however‚ have always assumed that Dan Cooper was a fake name. Ulis now thinks he may know the real man behind the crime. One of the few pieces of evidence left behind by Cooper was a clip-on tie‚ which Ulis told Fox News may have been purchased from JCPenney for $1.49. The tie has been analyzed before‚ but Ulis believes microscopic particles scraped from the tie may be the link to discovering who hijacked Northwest Orient Airlines flight 305. “He applied these sticky stubs‚ they’re like little carbon circles that he could apply to portions of the tie and then when you pull them off‚ you’re pulling off some of the particles from the tie‚” Ulis told Fox‚ referring to the scientists who found the particles. “You apply modern state-of-the-art technology to it‚ things they didn’t have back in 1971 when this occurred. It tells a story.” Ulis used those particles and U.S. patents to trace three fragments to a steel plant in Pennsylvania‚ Crucible Steel. “Headquartered in the suburbs of Pittsburgh‚ a significant subcontractor all throughout the 1960s‚” Ulis told the outlet. “It supplied the lion’s share of titanium and stainless steel for Boeing’s aircraft.” Ulis suggested that evidence indicated Cooper knew his way around a Boeing 727‚ the same type of aircraft he hijacked. Cooper also allegedly knew Seattle‚ Washington‚ well‚ which is where the plane was scheduled to land. Crucible Steel workers reportedly traveled to Seattle often to visit Boeing‚ which contracted the company. Cooper may well have been part of that downturn.” Ulis admitted to the outlet that findings are not yet concrete‚ and named a titanium research engineer with Crucible Steel as a potential suspect for D.B. Cooper. The engineer died in 2002. “I can put him in Seattle‚ I can put him at Boeing‚” Ulis said of the man. “He’s a compelling person of interest. He’s definitely someone I’m going to continue to dig into.” Ulis in the past has told media outlets he may have a lead on Cooper’s landing site‚ and has sued the FBI to gain access to evidence in the only unsolved hijacking in U.S. Aviation history.

A new poll shows three top Republican presidential candidates beating President Joe Biden in a one-on-one general election matchup. Former President Trump‚ former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley‚ and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis all lead Biden‚ according to the latest CBS News/YouGov poll conducted from January 10 to 12. Haley would have the biggest lead over Biden in a hypothetical general election matchup with 53% to Biden’s 45%‚ the poll found. DeSantis is next with 51% to Biden’s 48%‚ while Trump hypothetically beats Biden by two percentage points‚ 50% to Biden’s 48%. Of course‚ as the Iowa caucuses kick off Monday‚ Trump has a massive‚ double-digit lead over both Haley and DeSantis and is expected to clinch the party’s presidential nomination‚ barring a considerable shift. Trump’s indictments have boosted rather than dampened support for him. More supporters say they are voting to support him amid his legal battles rather than voting for him in spite of them‚ the poll found. Meanwhile‚ Biden has been dragged down by the economy. Only 21% of voters think they would be better off financially with Biden in office‚ and more than a third of Democrats even say that having a strong economy is a more significant concern than having a functioning democracy. This is far from the first time polls have shown the Republican candidates beating Biden in a hypothetical general election matchup this election cycle. An Issues &; Insights/TIPP poll from the beginning of this month gave Trump a slightly bigger lead of 37% to Biden’s 34% when third-party candidates are thrown into the mix. That’s governorships. That’s all the way down to school boards.” Part of Haley’s edge could be that some voters who prefer Biden to Trump say they would vote for Haley over Biden if that were the matchup in this November’s general election. However‚ there are exceptions to the polls showing Haley with a significant lead over Biden. A Rasmussen Reports poll from earlier this month shows both Trump beating Biden by eight points and DeSantis beating Biden by two points‚ while Haley trails Biden by two.
