Army Stats Show Precipitous Drop-Off In White Recruits — And Some Blame Conservative Media

The latest recruiting numbers from the United States Army have shown a precipitous drop-off in white recruits over the last several years – and among other factors‚ some insiders are blaming “partisan attacks against the military for its efforts to recruit and support a diverse force.” According to a report published Wednesday by Military.com‚ white recruits were down 6% from 2022 to 2023 alone — and had dropped off by double digits since 2018‚ when just over half (56.4%) of all Army recruits were classified as “white.” In 2023‚ 44% of all Army recruits were classified as “white.” In real numbers‚ there were 44‚042 white recruits in 2018 — and that fell to just 25‚070 in 2023. Recruiting numbers have decreased overall during that same period‚ resulting in the Army failing to meet its recruiting goal of 55‚000 in 2023 — but non-white demographics have seen increases by percentage over those same years. Between 2018 and 2023‚ black recruits are up 4% (from 20% to 24%)‚ and Hispanic recruits have risen 7% (from 17% to 24%). The overall numbers have not risen dramatically‚ but because white recruits have decreased in such numbers‚ other demographics now make up a larger percentage of the overall recruiting pool. The Army has been working to encourage recruiting efforts and told Military.com that they could not nail down one specific cause — instead‚ they “pointed to a confluence of issues for Army recruiting‚ including partisan scrutiny of the service‚ a growing obesity epidemic and an underfunded public education system.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP One other factor‚ they told the outlet‚ was the increase in “partisan” criticism of the military overall as it worked to embrace and implement Diversity‚ Equity‚ and Inclusion (DEI) into both recruitment and retention across all branches of service. The suggestion was that conservative media outlets and legislators‚ by attacking the military’s adoption of “woke” policies‚ had telegraphed to a “mostly white audience” that the Army was less attractive a career option than it had been in years past. “There’s a level of prestige in parts of conservative America with service that has degraded. Now‚ you can say you don’t want to join‚ for whatever reason‚ or bad-mouth the service without any cultural guilt associated for the first time in those areas‚” one Army official told the outlet.

Michael Strahan’s 19-Year-Old Daughter Reveals Brain Cancer Diagnosis: ‘Have To Keep Living Every Day’

TV personality Michael Strahan’s 19-year-old daughter Isabella just announced she recently underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor. Isabella‚ who is currently a college student‚ made the announcement during an appearance on Good Morning America on Thursday‚ per People.  Her father is a GMA co-host. The teen said that her condition was discovered in late October 2023. Isabella said she had the emergency surgery at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles to remove a four-inch mass on October 27‚ just one day before her 19th birthday. She also said she’ll undergo chemotherapy at Duke Children’s Hospital &; Health Center in North Carolina next month. “I’m feeling good. Not too bad‚” Isabella told GMA anchor Robin Roberts. “[Chemo is] my next step. I’m ready for it to start and be one day closer to being over. …. I’m very excited for this whole process to wrap. But you just have to keep living every day‚ I think‚ through the whole thing.”     View this post on Instagram   A post shared by michaelstrahan (@michaelstrahan) Michael‚ a former New York Giants defensive end‚ was also there to share his thoughts during the interview.  “I literally think that‚ in a lot of ways‚ I’m the luckiest man in the world‚ because I’ve got an amazing daughter‚” Michael said. “I know she’s going through it‚ but I know that we’re never given more than we can handle and that she is going to crush this.” The former NFL star has four total children‚ including Tanita‚ 32‚ and Michael Jr.‚ 29‚ with his first wife Wanda Hutchins; and Isabella and her twin sister Sophia‚ with his second wife‚ Jean Muggli. Isabella went into detail about how the tumor was discovered. “I didn’t notice anything was off ’til probably like October 1‚” she told Roberts. “That’s when I definitely noticed headaches‚ nausea‚ couldn’t walk straight.” The college student brushed off the symptoms until they became more severe. She was throwing up blood by the end of the month‚ which finally prompted her to see a medical professional. “That was when we decided‚ ‘You need to really go get a thorough checkup.’ And thank goodness for the doctor‚” Michael chimed in. “I feel like this doctor saved her life because she was thorough enough to say‚ ‘Let’s do the full checkup.'” “It didn’t feel real‚” the former Giants player continued. “I don’t really remember much. I just remember trying to figure out how to get to [Los Angeles] ASAP.” Michael said even though medulloblastoma is common‚ that didn’t help assuage his fears. “It’s still scary because it’s still so much to go through‚” he said. “And the hardest thing to get over is to think that she has to go through this herself.”  Isabella already completed six weeks of radiation. She plans to document the experience as part of a new YouTube series. “It’s been like‚ two months of keeping it quiet‚ which is definitely difficult. I don’t wanna hide it anymore ’cause it’s hard to always keep in‚” Isabella told Roberts. “I hope to just kind of be a voice‚ and be [someone] who maybe [those who] are going through chemotherapy or radiation can look at.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP The teen also said she has a different view of life following the cancer diagnosis.  “Perspective is a big thing‚” she said. “I’m grateful. I am grateful just to walk or see friends or do something‚ ’cause when you can’t do something‚ it really impacts you.” Michael agreed. “You learn that you’re probably not as strong as you thought you were when you have to really think about the real things‚ and I realized that I need support from everybody‚” he said. “You think‚ ‘I’m the athlete‚ the tough guy‚ you know‚ I can come and handle‚ I’m the father in the family.’ It is not about any of that. It doesn’t matter. And it’s really made me change my perspective on so many things in my life.”

Three New Year’s Resolutions For Women On The Internet

Ladies and gentlemen‚ I am back. The last time you saw or heard from me‚ I was 40 weeks pregnant‚ but I gave birth to my third child on November 20. I absolutely missed being here‚ and I am excited to catch up. And while it’s the New Year‚ I am the exact same Candace. Regardless of the year or where we are in it‚ I am going to stand by my values and instill them in my own household. I will never turn my back on saying what I believe to be true in my heart. As we enter 2024‚ I am doing just that by setting some resolutions for women on the internet. Is it more of the “be brave” or “be stunning” lingo? Actually‚ no. It’s less of that. Less of all that. I absolutely think we should all set New Year’s resolutions‚ and since I have a platform and many women follow me (some who like me‚ scores who don’t)‚ I thought I should outline the top three New Year’s resolutions that women on the internet should adopt for 2024. These are three simple goals for internet behavior. 1. Stop Posting Near-Naked Pictures On The Internet I discussed this on my show the first week I was back. I think everyone can do this. I believe it in my heart of hearts. For those who are deep into the addiction of putting the parts of your body Eve sewed fig leaves for all over everyone’s screens for likes and attention‚ take a small step. Try doing dry January. For the whole month of January‚ give it a go by not putting any of those pictures on the internet. WATCH: Candace Owens One day‚ I am going to put together a rehabilitation center for these women. I really do believe this is becoming a mental disorder. I am exhausted opening my Instagram and seeing more of some women than I ever want to see. So if you could do us all a favor and put some clothes on this year‚ I think that would make a great first goal. In all honesty‚ I don’t think we’re going to be able to accomplish it‚ but I want to challenge everyone with the opportunity. 2. Stop Trauma Dumping This trend has taken TikTok by storm. Some TikTokers are encouraging their followers to “trauma dump” which‚ according to them‚ involves skipping boring and uninteresting small talk to share dark‚ vulnerable stories instead. Others are crying in their posts with a tell-all‚ essentially living out private parts of their life very publicly. One TikToker in particular supports normalizing crying in your car when you think of books that make you feel sad. Though they want to “normalize trauma dumping‚” I would like to do the opposite. I would actually like to ab-normalize trauma dumping. Crying in your car because you think of a book? Is that really something we need to normalize? I think not. Let’s not do that. Another TikToker is “living her trauma out loud” by posting what she calls a “very vulnerable video” in which she decries that her husband is getting more love from their child than she is. He comes in and comforts her while she cries and folds laundry. What strikes me as most bothersome with this trauma dumping initiative is the camera set up. Before crying and folding laundry‚ the camera was set up in a perfect position to capture all this. It got her‚ her husband‚ and their child all in this moment. It’s as though they start to feel sad and think‚ let me set this camera up first.  We’ve got to stop doing this. I want women to button it up this year. I want women to be more emotionally stable on the internet. Plus‚ I just don’t think it’s healthy to grab your phone‚ set it up‚ and cry in front of a bunch of strangers. 3. Stop Lying To Each Other Lena Dunham comes to mind with this resolution. She is one of the great arbiters of modern feminism — the feminism that tells women they should be naked all the time and overshare to any and everyone. Here’s an example: Dunham is in a string bikini (how she often appears in posts)‚ and she shows more of her body than any of us want to see. But what is more disturbing than the photo of Dunham in a string bikini are the comments people leave: fire emojis‚ heart eyes‚ and compliments telling her she’s “stunning” and “the hottest.” I don’t know why women keep doing this. I’m not sure if they’re lying because it makes them feel good — or because they feel bad for her. But I suggest doing some soul searching to figure it out because it’s just not true. It’s a lie — and we should stop lying. You are not required to comment when you see a photo of someone who looks like this on the internet. (If everyone would just follow resolution #1‚ that would help some with #3.) You do not have to pretend something like this post is the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen. So please don’t. So‚ those are my three resolutions for women. Near-naked posts‚ crying in your car‚ lying to each other — none of these are requirements. No one is asking you to do this‚ so let’s stop. Let’s button it up. Let’s be honest. I think if all just met these goals‚ that would be stunning and that would be brave. Here’s to 2024. Let’s give it our best shot.
