Hyundai says hydrogen will play a ‘prominent role’ in going carbon neutral

Photo by Ashish Vaishnav / SOPA Images / LightRocket via Getty Images Hyundai is going all in on the most abundant element in the universe in the quest to reduce planet-heating emissions. The South Korean automaker announced that hydrogen will “play a prominent role” in the company’s efforts to go carbon neutral by 2050. “Clean hydrogen should be for everyone‚ powering everything‚ and available everywhere‚” Jay Chang‚ president and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company‚ said in a statement. As the auto industry shifts to electric vehicles‚ a small but growing cohort of companies is also embracing hydrogen fuel cell technology as part of their plans to eliminate tailpipe emissions. Honda‚ Toyota‚ GM‚ and Hyundai have all detailed plans to manufacture fuel cell vehicles‚ both for individual and commercial uses. H... Continue reading…

Garmin announces redesigned Connect app‚ updated watches‚ and new heart monitor

As an Apple Watch Ultra owner‚ I'm relatively new to the world of extreme smartwatches that you use to tackle running a marathon or climbing a mountain. That being said‚ I've always known that pretty much anyone who runs‚ bikes‚ swims‚ or is basically into any fitness that doesn't own an iPhone (or sometimes iPhone owners too) owns a Garmin smartwatch. The company has planted itself firmly in the ground as the go-to smartwatch for people who want to track everything while having great battery life and reliability. While Apple is trying to make headway into that world with the Apple Watch Ultra‚ it has its work cut out for it — Garmin is the top dog and has an incredibly loyal fanbase. Continue reading... 3 AI scams to watch out for in 2024

In 2024‚ we'll find out whether artificial intelligence is just a passing craze or truly the future of computing. In the meantime‚ while there are plenty of legitimate and intriguing use cases for AI‚ the technology will also be central to countless scams in the coming months. We are all curious about AI‚ and scammers are going to use that to their advantage. On Monday‚ anti-fraud experts from Scams.info shared a list of three AI scams that we should all be on the lookout for in 2024. As a general rule of thumb‚ if it sounds too good to be true‚ it likely is‚ but these specific cons should be on your radar as we enter the new year. 1. Investment fraud AI scams Companies such as Google‚ Microsoft‚ and OpenAI have already poured millions of dollars into AI and will invest even more this year. Scammers will use this fact as a springboard to convince you to invest in shady opportunities. If someone on social media tries to convince you that AI is going to boost your ROI on an investment‚ think twice before opening your wallet. "Watch out for investments that promise high returns with little risk and be sure to do comprehensive research before handing over money‚" warns Nicholas Crouch at Scams.info. "Budding investors should also be aware of opportunities that ask you to recruit new investors; these often operate as Ponzi or pyramid schemes that while benefiting those at the top of the pyramid‚ very rarely benefit others involved." 2. Impersonating loved ones A common tactic scammers have been using for years is posing as a friend or family member and asking for money. These aren't especially convincing when the scammer on the other line sounds nothing like your nephew or your grandmother‚ but AI could be a gamechanger for this scam. It would require real effort‚ but scammers could potentially use AI to replicate the voice of a loved one. All they'd need is a YouTube video or Facebook post containing the person's voice to train the AI. Would you be able to tell the difference on a phone call? "It’s vital that people protect their social media accounts to prevent scammers having access to recordings of your voice and details of your wider family‚" says Crouch. 3. Bypassing security with voice Some banks use voice identification to verify users when banking over the phone. For the same reasons we discussed above‚ this is suddenly far less secure than it was a few years ago. If you post videos or audio clips or yourself anywhere on the internet‚ a bad actor can use those clips to copy your voice. As Crouch notes‚ banks also use other data to verify your identity‚ but this brings scammers one step closer to stealing your bank account. AI could fundamentally change our lives and the way we interact with our devices. It's also the latest tool that hackers and scammers will be using to take advantage of us. Be smart‚ stay alert‚ and always do your research before engaging with AI. Fuji Apple Chicken Salad

Panera Bread’s Fuji Apple Chicken Salad is one of favorite salads‚ especially this time of year. Unfortunately the nearest Panera Bread is about 20 minutes from my house. When I want to get my Fuji Apple Chicken Salad fix I sometimes just make my own at home. Fuji Apple Chicken Salad Tender chicken breast slices‚ tomatoes‚ red onion slices‚ apple chips and toasted pecans are tossed in a white balsamic vinaigrette to make a salad that is crisp‚ sweet and tart. It’s a delight for the tastebuds and anything but an ordinary salad. Copycat Recipe This is by far my favorite salad at Panera. I’ve lost track of how many times I have ordered it. The great thing about making it at home is you can do it for a fraction of the cost‚ plus you can control the ingredient proportions. Pants fitting a little tight one week? Go easy on the cheese and pecans and heavy on the mixed greens. Plus if you work from home like I do‚ you can portion the salad into 4 Tupperware containers (keep the pecans and apple chips separate so they don’t get soggy) and eat it for lunch all week. It combines all of my salad favorites: a protein‚ cheese‚ fruit‚ and nuts. This salad is a lovely combination of mixed greens‚ chicken breast‚ tomatoes‚ red onion‚ gorgonzola cheese‚ pecans and the piece de resistance- Apple Chips!!! They totally make the salad and this time of year I say apples should be eaten at every opportunity. Caramelized Apple Chips I used these fabulous Caramelized Apple Chips that I made recently. It’s a super simple recipe that involves simmering thinly sliced apples in a water/sugar solution and then baking them in the oven. They get nice and crisp‚ plus have an incredible sweetness to them‚ just like the ones on Panera’s Fuji Apple Chicken Salad. White Balsamic Vinaigrette The tangy flavor from the vinaigrette really complements the flavor of the apple chips. This dressing can easily be doubled or tripled so you have salad dressing for the whole week. Variations and Substitutions Salads are so easy to customize to your own tastes and to what you have on hand. For a shortcut‚ use rotisserie chicken. For a milder flavor‚ use goat cheese or feta cheese. Add cucumber‚ avocado‚ red bell pepper‚ or carrots. Use fresh apple in place of apple chips. Use walnuts or almonds in place of pecans. More Delicious Salad Recipes Strawberry Fields Salad Dorito Taco Salad Chopped Cobb Salad Pickled Beet Salad with Walnuts and Feta Chicken Bacon Ranch Layer Salad Blue Cheese Chopped Salad with Craisins and Candied Pecans Print Fuji Apple Chicken Salad This salad is a knock-off of Panera's salad. It's loaded with pecans‚ blue cheese‚ red onion‚ and delicious apple chips all tossed in a white balsamic vinaigrette. Top with chicken and sprinkle apple chips on top.To make dressing‚ whisk together all ingredients in a medium bowl. NotesYou can use packaged dehydrated apple slices for the apple chips or just use thinly sliced fresh apples. To take some of the bite out of red onion‚ place the sliced onion in a bowl of ice water for at least 10 minutes.
