Ecovacs’ new cleaning station pairs its flagship robovac with a handheld vacuum

Image: Ecovacs Ecovacs is launching a new all-in-one Deebot X2 Combo cleaning station that combines its signature square-shaped robovac with a handheld vacuum to touch up spots it can’t reach. Both vacuums attach to a single auto-empty station‚ so you won’t have to empty out either device yourself. First announced last year‚ the included Deebot X2 Omni robovac offers a powerful 8‚000Pa of suction and 15mm mop lifting. It also comes with dual-laser lidar technology and AI obstacle avoidance that allows it to create a new path when it encounters an object in its way. Meanwhile‚ the X2’s station automatically empties the dust and dirt collected by the bot. It’s also capable of draining and drying the robovac’s built-in mop and refilling its water tank. B... Victrola’s new Stream Sapphire turntable can stream to anything

The high-end Victrola Stream Sapphire comes with a wooden plinth. | Image: Victrola Over the past few years‚ Victrola’s come back on the scene with slick turntables capable of streaming to Sonos’ wireless speakers. Now‚ the company is taking things a step further with the Victrola Stream Sapphire‚ a turntable that’s capable of streaming records to just about anything. Announced during CES 2024‚ Victrola’s highest-end Works with Sonos turntable costs a whopping $1‚499 and will be available in the US in the spring. That’s nearly double the price of the $800 Stream Carbon and almost a grand more than the $599 Stream Onyx‚ a stripped-down version of the Carbon Victrola announced at last year’s CES. For the added price‚ you get something both the Stream Onyx and Stream Carbon lack: Roon and UPnP integration. As a result‚... Continue reading…

Morgan Stanley: Apple AI and Siri 2.0 will debut at WWDC 2024

Morgan Stanley is the latest firm to report on Apple's AI plans‚ which should be unveiled soon. According to a note seen by BGR‚ 2024 will be the year when Apple's "Edge AI opportunity likely comes to fruition‚ highlighted by an LLM-powered Siri 2.0 and a broader Gen AI-enabled operating system (introduced at WWDC in June) that has the potential to catalyze an iPhone upgrade cycle." This analysis comes a day after Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported on the possible AI applications Apple is working to introduce with iOS 18 (which were also previously mentioned by him and The Information): Auto-summarizing and auto-complete features for core apps and productivity software (Pages‚ Keynote) Better playlist creation in Apple Music Siri (a big overall overhaul with a focus on AI) Code completion in a new version of Xcode for developers AppleCare tools to assist employees in helping customers with troubleshooting While these publications focus on the new features‚ Morgan Stanley believes this AI push could improve iPhone sales. "We believe the introduction of new LLM-enabled software features can reverse this trend [of lower iPhone sales]‚ as new hardware/component requirements potentially limit the backwards compatibility of an OS upgrade‚ forcing consumers to upgrade to a new device in a way they haven't had to since the iPhone 12 [with 5G introduction]." The speculation about the imminent announcement of AI features comes as Apple's job postings for Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing roles continue to increase‚ with DP appearing in 49% of Apple's AI job postings and NLP appearing in 23% of them. In addition‚ a paper highlighting how Apple has developed a method to utilize NAND flash to power larger LLMs that would not be possible to run on devices with current levels of DRAM. BGR will keep following the latest iPhone and iOS 18 rumors‚ and we'll keep you posted as soon as we learn more about them. Samsung’s new foldable phone screen from CES 2024 sounds too good to be true

Samsung’s new foldable phone screen from CES 2024 sounds too good to be true

I'm still a big fan of foldable phones despite the obvious worries. They're fragile and significantly more expensive than premium candybar smartphones. And foldables might not always get you the best hardware and software experience. Also‚ we only have Android foldables‚ as Apple is yet to make a foldable iPhone. Though rumors say Apple is exploring larger foldable devices‚ like some sort of foldable iPad contraption. Samsung is at the forefront of the foldable business because it was one of the first vendors to invest in foldable display technology. However‚ the Korean giant has been rather slow at delivering more impactful innovations because it lacked proper competition in the space until last year. That might explain why Samsung was eager to show off its In&;Out Flip foldable screen tech at CES 2024. As the marketing name implies‚ In&;Out Flip phones will be able to fold in both directions. As a result‚ the need for a separate external display would be eliminated. However‚ the tech sounds too good to be true. I already worry about a foldable display's durability when it only has to fold in a single direction. Having it fold in and out sounds like a recipe for disaster. Continue reading... LG’s new transparent OLED TV looks bananas‚ but who will actually buy it?

LG might be the biggest name in OLED‚ even compared to Samsung and Sony. The company has consistently put out some of the best OLED screens for years. From televisions to phones to gaming monitors‚ it's hard to find a bad LG OLED display. Of course‚ televisions are probably where the company is most well-known for its OLED screens. Personally‚ I went with Sony's OLED technology‚ but even I recognize how good LG's OLED TVs are. My friend has a 77-inch G Series and that thing looks incredible. The difference at that level has less to do with quality and more about personal preference — at least when I'm looking at them. Continue reading...
