Elk Hunter Paralleled &; Stalked by Possible BIGFOOT Near Mount St. Helens

A military veteran is back home in Washington and hunting elk near Mount St. Helens. He hears some walking in the woods‚ eventually realizing that at least one Bigfoot is paralleling him."This experience happened to me after I left the military. I was hunting near Mount St. Helens‚ Washington. This is my first trip back and I wanted to get in some elk hunting. I was so excited to be back home and able to go hunting which I love. My hunting partner was not able to go with me on this trip so I was going to make a solo trip which I've done many times before. I knew the area well enough and was prepared for what it would present. I always take at least 3 days' worth of provisions when hunting and survival gear in the way of extra clothing‚ poncho‚ matches‚ fire starter‚ and other essential items in my backpack. I know that many do not take such precautions when hunting but I do because once while hunting I got turned around so bad that I spent three days in the woods wishing I had something with me other than my gun‚ knife‚ and what I was wearing on my back.On this trip‚ I was going to hunt a power transmission line right away. I parked on the logging road and walked about a mile to where I would sit on top of a ridge where I would be able to watch both sides. It allowed me to be able to have a clear shot for over 400 yards in either direction. I'd taken several elk in the same location in various seasons over the years before entering the service.I walked in before the light and reached the spot where I intended to hunt before the sun came up. I was there all day and did not see a thing. This was highly unusual as every other time I had chosen this location I always saw something. It was all so more quiet than I remember for some reason. I also had the feeling of being watched but thought it was nothing. About an hour before dark and close to when I would have to leave‚ I started to hear movement to the right in the woods. It was not the usual sounds you hear from an animal‚ more like someone walking in the woods. I thought that maybe someone else was hunting in this area. I took note to be careful and not to shoot in that direction should an elk walk out. I never saw anyone else‚ but kept having that feeling I was being watched. It was just a feeling I could not shake. When I got up to leave I yelled over and said‚ "I'm coming out. For God's sake don't shoot." I said this more as a joke. No one said anything and there was no more movement from that direction. I once again yelled a little louder‚ "I'm coming up. Please don't shoot." I started walking towards the dirt road and wandered back and forth between the transmission power lines. I thought it funny that whoever it was didn't call back to say they had heard me.I got to the dirt road and started back to my car thinking that whoever it was didn't want to make any noise to scare any animals as it was not quite dark enough to stop hunting. But for me‚ I felt the urge to leave. As I moved down the road towards my car the sound of walking in the woods started again off to my right just inside the tree line. I thought that maybe whoever it was had decided to walk out with me. Whoever it was did not come out of the woods but just kept paralleling me. I stopped they stopped. This is beginning to creep me out so I asked them to come out where I could see them. There's no reply. In a louder voice‚ I said‚ "Enough's enough. No more games. Get your ass out here so I can see you." Again‚ there's no reply. I took my gun off my shoulder and locked a round into the chamber keeping the gun pointed in the direction of the area while I heard the walking‚ but with my safety on.I continued to walk to my car. When I stopped it stopped. I became worried that maybe this was not human. I began to think that this might be a Bigfoot. I was also aware that there may be another one on the left side of me. I started to watch all around me‚ after all‚ I would rather be safe than sorry. I still had quite a way to go to get to my car and knew it would be dark by the time I got there. I started to jog so I could possibly get there before it was totally dark. The thing to my right started keeping pace with me. I could hear it breaking limbs and what sounded like small trees as it kept pace with me. By this time I knew it was not a human being and I was almost sure it was a Bigfoot. I made it to my car without ever seeing what it was but I wasted no time in putting things away neatly. I simply threw my things in the car and got out of there as fast as I could without ever seeing it. I can tell you it was not a bear‚ cougar‚ bobcat‚ or anything else that I've experienced in the woods. I cannot say it was for sure a Bigfoot but because of an experience years previous I'm more positive than not that it was."Transcribed Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaRCTeCy-MgLizard Man: The True Story of the Bishopville MonsterHunt for the Skinwalker: Science Confronts the Unexplained at a Remote Ranch in UtahThe Zozo PhenomenonThe Djinn Connection: The Hidden Links Between Djinn‚ Shadow People‚ ETs‚ Nephilim‚ Archons‚ Reptilians and Other EntitiesInside the Lightning Ball: Scientific Study of Lifelong UFO ExperiencersIn the Shadow of Salem: The Andover Witch Hunt of 1692Register a SNAP EBT CardTry Audible PlusPHANTOMS &; MONSTERS READING LISTHave you had a sighting or encounter?Contact me by email or call the hotline at 410-241-5974Thanks. Top 10 Blues Traveler Songs

Our Top 10 Blues Traveler Songs list looks back at the songs of a band considered one of the all-time great jam bands. The term jam band‚ in this instance‚ defines a group capable of not just playing live extended jams but also delivering those jams fueled with great musicianship. The 1990s  gave birth to great jam bands like Blues Traveler‚ The Dave Matthews Band‚ and even the reformed Allman Brothers Band. Often overlooked in the shadow of the excellent grunge movement‚ bands like Blues Traveler offered a great alternative sound to groups like Nirvana and Pearl Jam. How Big Is a Cat Brain? Vet Explains Feline Anatomy

The post How Big Is a Cat Brain? Vet Explains Feline Anatomy by Dr. Samantha Devine appeared first on Catster. Copying over entire articles infringes on copyright laws. If you own a cat‚ you’ve probably wondered how intelligent they are. After all‚ sometimes they can be silly goofballs‚ while at other times‚ they can find their way to harass you in the bathroom in the pitch black of night with their mouse toy. So‚ how big is a cat’s brain? And does that brain size equate to intelligence? Your cat’s brain is roughly 2 inches long. It only weighs an ounce‚ which puts your cat’s brain at about 1% of their body weight. Read on for more interesting details. The Size of Your Cat’s Brain Purely based on size‚ a dog’s brain is larger than a cat’s brain; a cat’s brain is slightly larger than a walnut‚ while a dog’s brain is roughly the size of a tangerine. It’s not necessarily the size that equates with how smart an animal is; the structures and surface folding determine how intelligent an organism is. Cats have a brain structure more similar to ours than to a dog’s brain. In fact‚ their brain is about 90% identical to ours‚ so think about that next time you’re wondering how smart your kitty is! Don’t panic and start worrying about the cat overlords taking over‚ however. We have a significant difference in the number of neurons in our cerebral cortex. Cats have roughly 300 million‚ and we have 21 to 26 billion neurons in that same structure in our brain.1 Dogs tend to have more neurons than cats‚ which is likely because they have a larger brain size. In dogs‚ there’s more development of the social cognition portion of the cerebral cortex‚ while in cats‚ a more significant portion is devoted to movement and vision. That means each pet tends to be better at something different than the other. Image Credit: Konstantin Aksenov‚ Shutterstock How Do Cats Use Their Brains? Your cat’s brain helps regulate every aspect of their life‚ and it’s the driving force for cats to be crepuscular. Animals like cats that are crepuscular are primarily active in the dawn and twilight hours. It allows them to prey on smaller animals that are also crepuscular. Other animals that exhibit this behavior include: Deer Opossums Hamsters Skunks Based on this behavior pattern‚ don’t be surprised if your kitty wakes you in the pre-dawn hours. It’s instinct. They’re not trying to torture you. Cats do other things differently than our canine friends. For example‚ if you have an outdoor cat that likes to hunt‚ you should also know they will keep hunting even if they’ve eaten already. This behavior differs from dogs‚ who typically stop hunting after eating. Your Cat’s Senses What your cat can detect with such a small brain is pretty impressive. Their brain allows them to uniquely utilize their senses to help them survive in their environment. 1. Sight Your cat’s eyes can see incredibly well‚ even in a dark environment. Cats have a structure known as the tapetum lucidum in their eyes‚ which helps reflect photons of light back onto the retina‚ allowing them to have a second chance to utilize the light and see. Cats also have more rods in their eyes than a person. These photoreceptor cells function best in dim light‚ allowing your cat to see better in the dark than you. The difference in rods and cones also affects the colors that cats see in the world. You are free to use this image but we do require you to link back to Catster.com 2. Taste Cats don’t have the same way to sense taste that you do. While we have around 9‚000 taste buds‚ our kitties only have a few hundred taste buds. What is especially interesting about this is that cats don’t seem to be able to taste sweet things. If your cat is trying to get to your sweets‚ like whipped cream or ice cream‚ it’s not likely the sugary goodness they’re after but the fats they’re attracted to. They can taste bitter and associate it with danger or poison‚ so watch out if you’re using a lemon spray. 3. Hearing Your cat’s ears are also very helpful for navigating the world around them. The slightly cone-shaped pinna helps direct sound into the middle ear and allows your cat to pinpoint the source of the sound. Image Credit: Ivi li‚ Pexels 4. Touch Cats also have interesting ways to navigate through touch. Their whiskers provide signals as your cat winds their body through narrow spaces. Aside from the whiskers‚ they have touch receptors in their paws and nose. 5. Smell Cats rely heavily on their sense of smell. If your cat has a respiratory infection‚ they may have trouble scenting their food‚ which leads to many kitties refusing to eat. Cats also have a unique structure called the vomeronasal organ. Located just behind their upper incisors in their mouth‚ this structure helps cats detect and process pheromones. Speaking of pheromones‚ your cat produces them from an array of places‚ including between their toes and their anal glands. Image Credit: Africa Studio‚ Shutterstock Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) What are the main parts of your cat’s brain? Your cat has a nervous system similar to your own. There are two parts to the central nervous system (or CNS): The brain The spinal cord These structures can be further divided. For example‚ the major parts of the brain include: The cerebellum The cerebrum The brainstem Are cats getting less intelligent? We can’t quite compare measurements of how intelligent your cat is compared to their ancestors‚ but scientists have been studying the size of how cats’ brains have changed. They’re getting smaller. According to the study‚ house cats may have undergone a 25% reduction in the size of their brain when compared to European and African wildcats‚ their wild cousins. Image Credit: lowpower225‚ Shutterstock Conclusion Your cat’s brain is unique and allows them to be amazing hunters. Even if we can’t make an easy determination about whether cats or dogs are more intelligent‚ they’re still wonderful members of our families. Snow and Survival: 5 Horror Stories Set During Winter

Snow can be magical‚ softly blanketing the landscape‚ making everything look beautiful and unreal. But snow and ice can also be dangerous and menacing‚ and in the hands of horror authors‚ cold weather can create an atmosphere of real terror. To send a truly memorable shiver up your spine‚ all that’s needed are some not-so-friendly creatures lurking among the snowdrifts… Some classic examples of creature feature stories set in freezing temperatures are H. P. Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness and John W. Campbell’s Who Goes There?‚ which provided the basis for John Carpenter’s The Thing. You might turn to these classics each winter in the way that some people reread A Christmas Carol (or‚ let’s be real‚ rewatch The Muppet Christmas Carol) every December‚ but if you’re looking to add some variety to your cold-weather creature feature reading experience‚ then here are five of my personal favorites.   The Shuddering by Ania Ahlborn This winter-set horror tale begins with a group of friends (plus a very good dog) traveling to a fancy cabin in Colorado for a skiing holiday. Unbeknownst to them‚ people in the surrounding area are being gruesomely picked off by unidentified creatures that aren’t bothered by the cold (just like Elsa from Frozen! But not quite). The friends think that the biggest challenge they’ll be facing in this winter wonderland is their messy group dynamic‚ but that all changes when a blizzard blows in and they’re left stranded in their secluded cabin with monsters creeping ever closer. Once the creatures attack the group‚ things descend into absolute chaos (in the best possible way). The Shuddering is like the literary equivalent of a fun and gory Saturday night monster movie. All that perfect white snow? It’s quickly saturated with blood. Ahlborn’s descriptions of the nightmarish creatures and the carnage they inflict are delightfully grotesque.   Stolen Tongues by Felix Blackwell Stolen Tongues started life as a story on Reddit (which is why the main character’s name also happens to be the author’s name) before being self-published and gaining traction through word of mouth. Like The Shuddering‚ the story is set in a remote cabin on a mountain‚ but this one is of the more rustic variety. Faye and Felix are having a quiet break away from their hectic lives to celebrate their engagement when Faye begins speaking in her sleep—only it doesn’t sound like incoherent dream ramblings. Instead‚ it sounds like she’s having an actual conversation. The nightmarish thing that she’s speaking to is revealed slowly. Rather than splattering blood across the page right from the start‚ Blackwell builds intense dread‚ occasionally punctuating it with sharp moments of terror. The snowy setting adds great atmosphere but it’s the dark and creepy woods that are the real star of the show‚ here. The next time you’re out for a nature walk after reading Stolen Tongues‚ you’ll be left wondering if there’s something uncanny and dangerous lurking out there with you.   “The Things” by Peter Watts Most of the stories on this list are told from the point of view of humans‚ but Watts’s short story “The Things” flips that on its head‚ telling the story of Carpenter’s The Thing from the perspective of the invading alien beings. Just as we are disgusted by the distorted shapes that the Thing takes on while transforming‚ it is equally disgusted by our individuality and inability (and unwillingness) to change. In this story‚ it’s humans that are the creatures. Viewing humanity through alien eyes is fascinating‚ but in the hands of Watts it’s also deeply chilling. The story begins with the shape-shifting biomass merely trying to survive but as it comes to understand human nature and biology‚ things take a more sinister turn. The last line is a proper gut-punch. As the story is so short‚ it’s understandably light on the wintery atmosphere but it makes a great companion piece to Carpenter’s snow-filled film. Even if you haven’t seen the movie (why not?!)‚ Watts’s story is still well worth the read.   Near the Bone by Christina Henry Near the Bone begins with Mattie‚ who lives an incredibly isolated life on a mountain with her husband‚ finding a dead fox and some bizarre tracks in the snow—tracks that aren’t human‚ but aren’t quite animal‚ either. This is the furthest thing from a comedic Harry and the Hendersons-style tale‚ however; the unknown predator doesn’t want to be friends and Mattie’s home life is far from happy (so much so that the novel merits a content warning for various forms of abuse). A large creature prowling around is already pretty bad‚ but things get worse when three cryptid hunters show up. What follows is an intense story of survival that goes to some very dark places. The monsters in Near the Bone are of both the human and non-human variety. Henry blends sickeningly true-to-life horrors with the fear evoked by a vicious (and thankfully fictional) beast. Then there’s also the danger of the elements‚ as the characters are trapped in freezing temperatures for much of the story. Although it can be harrowing and disturbing at times‚ it’s also a thrilling page-turner—one you’ll definitely want to read under a cozy blanket.   The Hunger by Alma Katsu Most people know the broad strokes of the tragedy that befell the Donner Party: particularly bad winter weather trapped the travelers in the Sierra Nevada mountain range‚ leading to many deaths and cannibalism. If you want a non-fiction account of the incredibly grim story then check out The Indifferent Stars Above by Daniel James Brown. The Hunger adds a supernatural twist to this tale‚ in the form of a beast that Katsu has borrowed from folklore and made her own. In Katsu’s version of the story‚ the weary travelers are being stalked by something…and that something is ravenous. While the eerie presence of monsters is not the driving force of the story‚ it intensifies the general feeling of fear and paranoia that grips the migrants‚ as well as adding an unknown element for readers already familiar with the historical account. The Hunger is also full of the real-life difficulties that plagued the westward-bound wagon train. Humans—both through error and intent—prove to be just as dangerous as the monsters and deadly snowfall. ***   Have you got any recommendations for stories that feature monsters in chilly settings? Let’s discuss in the comments below! Originally published January 2023 Lorna Wallace has a PhD in English Literature and is a lover of all things science fiction and horror. She lives in Scotland with her aforementioned rescue greyhound‚ Misty.

LEGO Fortnite player creates a working Starship Rocket

First it was a working catapult‚ and now a LEGO Fortnite player creates a working Starship Rocket? The creativity is getting out of hand‚ but in a good way. It’s not just any rocket ship‚ but a replica of the Starship Rocket from SpaceX. It not only goes into the air‚ but includes stage separation as well.
