The survey shows the Pennsylvania Senate race is too close to call, with Republican candidate Dave McCormick on 49 percent, while incumbent Senator Bob Casey is on 48.4 percent. The Associated Press called the Pennsylvania Senate race for McCormick on Thursday, however, prompting criticism from Fetterman. “We still have tens of thousands of votes to be counted across the Commonwealth,” Fetterman said in a post on X. “@AP_Politics shouldn’t make a call in this race until every Pennsylvanian has their vote counted.” Senator Bob Casey has said he will not concede until every vote is counted. The Associated Press had yet to call the race, but it was clear by then that the voters had swept him back into power. Along the way, Trump shrugged off a 34-count felony conviction and an array of other criminal indictments. The scale of his success was stunning. Trump carried North Carolina, flipped Georgia back to his column, and smashed through the Blue Wall. His campaign outperformed its goal of turning out men and holding women. Exit polls showed Trump winning large numbers of Latino men in key battleground states, improving his numbers with that group in Pennsylvania from 27% to 42%. Nationally, Trump’s support among Latino men leaped from 36% to 54%. Trump also increased his share of voters without a college degree, gained ground with Black voters in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, and held steady nationally with white women, shocking Democrats who had expected a post-Dobbs uprising. Among first-time voters, Trump boosted his support from 32% four years ago to a 54% majority. He got his share of big breaks. When Trump launched this campaign on the heels of a third straight rebuke in national elections, Republican leaders tried to ignore him. His primary opponents were too timid to take him on. A combination of friendly judges and legal postponements pushed his most damning criminal trials to after the election. Until July, Trump’s general-election opponent was an unpopular incumbent viewed by many as too old to continue in the job. Biden only confirmed those suspicions when he bumbled through their first, and only, debate. The Democrats’ hasty replacement of the first-term president with Harris deprived them of a better-tested candidate who could potentially have rallied broader support. Voters took Trump’s own advanced age and increasingly incoherent trail rhetoric in stride. Much of the country read Trump’s legal woes as part of a larger corrupt conspiracy to deny him, and them, power. And he benefited from a global restiveness in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic that has ousted incumbent leaders around the world. The consequences may be historic. Trump has dominated American politics for nine years now, and after four years of his tumultuous presidency punctuated by an insurrection, the country chose to reinstall him. Trump campaigned on an authoritarian agenda that would upend America’s democratic norms, and he is already preparing to deliver on it: mass detention and deportations of migrants; revenge against political enemies via the justice system; deploying the military against his own civilians. How far he chooses to go with the power the public has handed him is a question that will shape the fate of the country. With Mitch McConnell stepping down, the race to take his place as Senate GOP leader — which will be the Majority leader come January — is heating up. Many names have come to the surface as potential successors to McConnell, and many are cut from the same cloth as old Mitch. There’s Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, for instance, who teamed up with Democrats to back strict gun control bills and foreign aid packages to Ukraine, implied that there was some merit to the infamous “Russian collusion” hoax against President Trump, and supported impeaching Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Other potential successors include Sen. John Thune of South Dakota or Joni Ernst of Iowa. But, the challenger who seems most determined to win, and the one I’m sure many of you would like to see the most as Senate GOP leader is Sen. Rick Scott of Florida. Rick Scott is as pro-Trump as it gets, and he just confirmed that he’s running for Senate GOP leader. From NBC News: Because of their years in leadership and relationships across the GOP Conference, Thune and Cornyn have been seen as the most likely successors to McConnell. But the pair have broken with Trump on several occasions and have spent the year trying to make amends with the past and now future president. With Trump returning to power, Scott and his conservative allies are making the case that he should be the one to run the Senate despite winning just 10 votes when he challenged McConnell for the top job two years ago. The Trump loyalist personally asked Trump for his endorsement in May when he notified the former president that he was launching a bid for Republican leader, a source familiar with the conservation told NBC News. “He supported me when I ran against McConnell two years ago; I’m hoping he’ll support me this time,” Scott said on Fox Business Wednesday, adding that he and Trump have been texting back and forth. “I’m doing everything I can to make sure his agenda gets accomplished.” Scott believes that his fellow Senators will have no problem choosing him to lead the Senate, as a business guy who is close to President Trump,  because they want change. Speaking to Fox News, Rick Scott revealed: “I’m gonna run, Larry. I’m gonna win. And here’s why. I’ve been talking to my Republican colleagues. Guess what? They want change. They know that Trump has a mandate. They want to be part of that mandate. They want to be treated as equals. They want to be part of a team. They want to have a working relationship with the House. A CNN panel discussion this past week perfectly exemplified the Left’s remaining blindspot on the transgender issue, which the Wall Street Journal called the “sleeper issue” of the 2024 election. One guest, Jay Michaelson, yelled at strategist Shermichael Singleton for supposedly being “transphobic” for explaining that boys who identify as trans playing in female sports is not a popular policy with families across the country. Moreover, CNN host Abby Phillips, amazingly, tried to police Singleton’s language instead of shutting down Michaelson’s tantrum. “They’re not boys! I’m not gonna listen to ‘transphobia’ at this table!” Michaelson interrupted Singleton. “Did you call a ‘trans girl’ a boy?! … When you use words as a slur, I’m gonna interrupt.” “They’re not boys! They’re not boys!” Michaelson continued to interrupt. “I’m not gonna sit there and listen to that.” Phillips tried to “reset” the discussion by saying the trans issue is a “heated” one, but notably called on Singleton to seemingly police his language to be “respectful” to Michaelson. “I think out of respect for Jay, let’s try to talk about this in a way that is respectful,” Phillips said to Singleton. MATT WALSH’S ‘AM I RACIST?’ NOW STREAMING ON DAILYWIRE+ “Let me rephrase this, since I’m being targeted here,” Singleton said, before being interrupted again. “There’s no consensus that these are actually boys,” Michaelson claimed. “The whole thing about ‘trans girls’ is a canard.” “We’re talking about a tiny, tiny sliver of the population, and we’re using that to take away health care from thousands of people,” he added, suggesting drugs like puberty blockers and surgeries like double-mastectomies on physically healthy minors is “health care.” After being told to “just get to your point” by Phillips, Singleton explained, “Regular people look at these things and say, ‘Ya know what, this is a bit too far. I do not agree with this. I don’t like this. I think Democrats have gone way too much to the Left on social issues.'” “They’re uncomfortable with it,” Singleton stressed. “A lot of people believe that, a lot of families believe that. You might disagree with that reality, but that’s why Republicans kept running those ads over and over and over again, because they saw the metrics that they were working.” The Trump team, as Singleton said, saw great success with an ad about Vice President Harris supporting taxpayer-funded sex changes for trans inmates.
