Time to Put the Left’s ‘Trump Is a Threat to Democracy’ Lie to Rest

Now that President-elect Donald Trump has built a resounding red wave to crash over the supposed blue wall, it’s time to put the Left’s false claim that Trump is a “threat to democracy” to rest.  “But he’s a convicted felon!”  “But he’s been indicted!” Those cries fell flat last night as voters saw through the mirage of blind justice amid the reality of a politicized justice system against Trump. This miscarriage of justice was the true threat to democracy. Trump won his party nomination with grassroots support, in spite of GOP elites. Kamala Harris was coronated by Democratic Party elites without grassroots support. Harris didn’t earn one single vote in the 2024 Democratic primary season, nor did she as a candidate in 2020. Trump, who also won the popular vote Tuesday night, is the embodiment of democracy and We The People. Voters trust Trump more than the Left about “threats to democracy.” Shortly before President Joe Biden bowed out of the race after his disastrous debate performance, The Washington Post reported about its polling with the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University showing that Trump was trusted more than Biden on democracy among key swing-state voters that Biden narrowly won in 2020. The Post said “a little more than half of voters classified as likely to decide the presidential election say threats to democracy are extremely important to their vote for president … but that [President Joe Biden] has yet to convince them he is the one to defend it.” A majority of voters said the lawfare persecution of Trump happened because of a weaponizing of the justice system. Over the summer, 62% of Americans polled in a Quinnipiac University survey said the Department of Justice’s case against Trump over the mishandling of classified documents after he left the White House was politically motivated.  Just 34% of those surveyed said they think the DOJ’s federal charges against Trump were mainly motivated by law. In essence, the fact that the current Biden-Harris White House was trying to jail its political rival didn’t sit well with the American people. The timing of these various prosecutions across a number of states was very suspect, given it all coalesced during an election year, despite having three previous years to supposedly carry out blind justice. In June, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y., told HBO host Bill Maher that if Trump hadn’t been running for president, the former president wouldn’t have been prosecuted in the state for his hush money payments. “The attorney general’s case in New York frankly should have never been brought,” Cuomo said, rightly stating also that even New Yorkers who don’t like Trump perceived the process as weaponization of the justice system. Washington Post columnist George Will—no fan of Trump—agreed, reminding readers: “This was concocted by an elected, flamboyantly anti-Trump Democratic prosecutor in Manhattan, who, in a marvel akin to the multiplication of the fishes and loaves, transformed a bookkeeping misdemeanor into 34 felonies in New York. Democrats, who call Trump an ‘existential’ threat to everything, endeavored to secure him another presidential nomination.” Indeed, Trump was slipping in the primary polls up until the August 2022 FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago (pertaining to classified documents), followed by his indictment in the hush money case. These eventually clinched the nomination for Trump, driven by voters incensed by the improper use of the justice system. The promise of equal justice for all—even one’s political rivals—is a core principle of American democracy. Maybe now the Left will learn its lesson and act accordingly.  Carrie Sheffield is a senior policy analyst at Independent Women’s Voice. We publish a variety of perspectives. Our Election’s Utter Losers and Winners

Deservedly, the 2024 Election’s Losers The polls—with the exception once again of AltasIntel, Trafalgar, and Rasmussen—were off, and way off in the Senate races. The pollsters’ reputation is again in full reverse and now back to their nadir of 2020 and 2016. Many shamelessly warped their data in the last two weeks to gin up Kamala Harris momentum, fundraising, and voter turnout. And to no avail. There were plenty of indications long ago in key states of a Donald Trump thunderstorm: defections of minorities, anger among both the Jewish and Muslim voters, alienated union members, massive increases in Republican registrations, and non-Election Day balloting. And all were deliberately ignored by the corrupt media and pollsters. Democrats know—but will do nothing about the fact—they have become the party of the upscale professionals and the rich and the subsidized poor. They have alienated the entire middle class—white, black, Hispanic—and are ceding it to the new Republican populist-nationalist party. Open borders, hyperinflation, abortion deification, the transgendered mania, the crime wave, and the “green” obsessions all did their bit to repel voters. The “racist” Trump won more minority support than any Dole, McCain, or Romney figure of the past. What now will the buffoonish Alvin Bragg, Fani Willis, and Jack Smith do with their pseudo-indictments and convictions? Try to nullify an American election by putting the president-elect in jail, as the projectionist and now-paranoid Left screams that a soon to be President Trump might lawfare them in the manner they did him? Democrat incumbent senators by late September knew their internal polls were bleeding. So, they decided to junk their lifelong voting records, ideology, and transient fealty to Harris, and became chameleonlike to absorb the Trump agendas. That proved too fake and opportunistic for most voters. Remember, we will soon be back to 2017-era left-wing hysteria. The Left, as it licks its numerous wounds, will reemerge soon to get back the House and impeach Trump, riot on Inauguration Day, gin up more lawfare with hackish local and state prosecutors, insert more deep-state “Anonymous” obstructors into the swamp, draft more has-been generals to trash their commander in chief, and reach for the absurdities like the Logan Act, 25th Amendment, or more collusion myths. After all, the party that said democracy was on the ballot is now the most antidemocratic force in modern history. Will a Josh Shapiro try to do a Bill Clinton on the Democratic Party as the latter did after the George McGovern/Jimmy Carter disasters? The Winners? Donald Trump, of course. After a decade of Russian collusion farces, laptop disinformation ruses, two impeachments, attempted ballot removal, five civil and criminal suits, two assassination attempts, and a SWAT team raid on his home, the indestructible 78-year-old Trump has just pulled off the greatest political comeback in presidential history. Trump was out-funded by Harris. The media gave him 95% negative coverage. The glitterati trashed him nonstop and even stooped to sabotage “Saturday Night Live,” in vain, to stop him. The ridiculous Obamas jetted out of their mansions to lie about Trump nonstop and talk down to their own voters. All they proved was that the phantom, supposedly miracle Michelle Obama candidacy would have been even worse than Harris. An arrogant Oprah and “The View” really believed their gossipy paranoia about Trump. In the end, Trump proved more energetic and industrious than Harris, smarter than seasoned politicos, and utterly authentic, preferring to be genuine and occasionally crude than the inauthentic and sappy Harris. He may likely be the first Republican to win 51% of the vote since 1988 and the first to win the popular vote in 20 years. As a general rule, those in the conservative and Republican movements who stood by Trump have won with him. Those who damned him ended up inert or wandering aimlessly in the political wilderness. What happens to the Liz Cheneys and Larry Hogans of the world? There are now no more “Never Trump” conservatives. That is a misnomer for those who were, after a decade, mostly either left-wing or subsidized by the Left as useful idiots—or irrelevant. Contrast all that with the even more ascendant and buoyant mavericks like Elon Musk, RFK Jr., Joe Rogan, and Tulsi Gabbard. I watched the tears, denial, and fury of the MSNBC and CNN crowd as they struggled first to fantasize nonexistent pathways to victory, then to revisit “Russian collusion” and “lawfare,” then to claim the proverbial naïve and stupid electorate was deluded into voting against its “real” interests (as defined by MSNBC grandees), and finally to announce that the world—currently on the nuclear precipice of Joe Biden-induced, escalating, theater-wide wars—will be “aghast” at the will of the American people. In other words, the political-media Leftist fusion sermonized about everything other than why they were rejected by the American people. What a pathetic bunch our media have become. And lastly, Biden? The Left—who dreamed up the 2020 idea of using the fake “ol’ Joe Biden from Scranton” as “moderate” cover for the hard-left agenda—does not know whether to blame Joe for not getting out earlier or to claim their July coup was now a mistake and they would have been better off with a candidate cognitively challenged by dementia rather than one by innate inability. So, Democrats will blame everyone and everything—except themselves, who sought to drive down the American people’s throat the most radical and absurd agenda of the last two centuries that ruined the economy, exploded our border, made moonscapes of our big cities, destroyed women’s sports, set the world abroad afire, weaponized the courts and the bureaucracies, and sought to tear the country in two. RIP to all that. We publish a variety of perspectives. Nothing written here is to be construed as representing the views of The Daily Signal. Former House Freedom Caucus Chief Fends Off Tough Challenge in Pennsylvania’s 10th District

Republican Rep. Scott Perry staved off a stiff challenge from Democrat Janelle Stelson in a U.S. House race in Pennsylvania to win a seventh term. On Wednesday afternoon, The Hill/Decision Desk HQ called the race for Perry. With 99% of the vote reporting, Perry leads Stelson by more than 6,000 votes with more than 400,000 votes recorded, WHTM-TV, the ABC affiliate in Harrisburg, Pa., reported. Perry, 62, was seeking a fourth term from Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District after three terms representing the 4th District. Prior to that, he served in the Pennsylvania State House.  Stelson, 64, is a Republican-turned-Democrat former TV anchor. Janelle Stelson, the Democratic candidate for Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District, answers an interviewer’s questions in Harrisburg, Pa., on Oct. 19. (Tom Williams/CQ-Roll Call via Getty Images) Perry, a former chairman of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, was endorsed by Gun Owners for America and the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, among other groups.   Among his key issues were assisting veterans, defending life, and protecting the Second Amendment and Title IX’s support of women’s sports.   In an interview on Fox Business, Perry said the biggest issues in Pennsylvania are the economy, with public safety and national security being close runners-up.  “People can’t afford their lives anymore,” he said. “Just in the span of four years, their regular daily lives have been turned on their heads. They’re buying their groceries with their credit card bills. They can’t afford their electricity rates, day care. Heaven forbid you’ve got to buy a new car or home.”  Perry’s website said he opposed tax increases by the Biden-Harris administration.   “First of all, quit spending all of America’s taxpayers’ money that they don’t have,” Perry said during an interview on WPMT-TV, the Fox affiliate in York, Pa. “They can’t afford it, and they don’t want to buy things that they can’t afford and don’t need.”  Perry is the grandson of Colombian immigrants and began working at the age of 13, picking fruit at a farm in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Throughout his life, Perry has held positions such as a mechanic, dockworker, a licensed insurance agent, and a draftsman.  Perry graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration Management. He started a mechanical contracting firm with his mother in their garage. Perry served in the military, retiring as an assistant adjutant general in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.  He is married with two daughters.  The post Former House Freedom Caucus Chief Fends Off Tough Challenge in Pennsylvania’s 10th District   appeared first on The Daily Signal.

James Carville Breaks Down ‘Big Mistakes’ That Doomed Harris’ Presidential Bid

DAILY CALLER NEWS FOUNDATION—Democratic strategist James Carville on Wednesday outlined the major missteps he believes led to Vice President Kamala Harris’ loss to former President Donald Trump. Trump clinched an election victory early Wednesday, fueled partly by stronger support from Hispanic and black men. Carville, on “James Carville Explains,” pointed to President Joe Biden’s “late” July exit from the race, Harris’ failure to distinguish herself from him, and “a sense of disorder” as the factors that sunk her presidential bid. “I think there were a couple big, big mistakes and something overreaching. First of all … by Biden staying in so late, we didn’t have any process,” Carville said. “We had all of this unused cordwood sitting on the sideline, OK? And I mean really good, really good, unused—you know, that if we’d had some kind of an open process and it would have been much better … It could have been worse, but it sure could have been a lot better.” Harris secured enough backing from Democratic delegates to become the party’s presumptive nominee in July, despite receiving virtually no primary voter approval. “She didn’t separate herself from Biden. But what killed the Democrats, and what killed Biden, was a sense of disorder. And part of the sense of disorder was the unfortunate events of what I would refer to as the woke era,” he added. “We got beyond it, but … the image stuck in people’s minds that the Democrats wanted to defund the police, that they wanted to empty prisons. You know, the immigration stuff, obviously, again, a big mistake, but more importantly, it created to the perception of disorder.” “The Afghanistan withdrawal—while I think Biden was 100% right in getting out—it was disorderly. Inflation was a sign of people’s sense of disorder, that there wasn’t anyone in charge,” Carville said. “And, you know, if we learn anything from this, it’s change is what wins elections, particularly, you know, people were pointing out, it’s a 65% wrong-track country. And in a 65% wrong-track country, we were offering people the same track.” The vice president told “The View” on Oct. 8 that nothing “comes to mind” when she fielded a query regarding how she would govern differently from Biden. “And, you know, you can say it’s easy in hindsight, but the basic fundamentals of politics were not being paid attention to. And you’re right, the campaign didn’t—except for that one answer, which was the whole, which was the money question, by the way—just say that one question. But that one question became the whole definition of the campaign,” the Democratic strategist asserted. “And, you know, if you answer 99 questions really well, but you get the big one wrong, the outcome is going to be wrong. And, you know, it’s easy to say in retrospect, but the reason it’s easy to say is because truisms in American politics showed themselves to be, well, what they are—truisms.” Radio host Charlamagne tha God on Wednesday asserted that economic factors and safety were key driving forces behind Trump’s victory, disputing the notion that he won solely due to bigotry. “I don’t think it’s fair to just chalk up Trump winning to racism, sexism, homophobia, or antisemitism. Yes, he tapped into all of the worst things America has ever had to offer, and there are a lot of people who agree with his rhetoric and voted for him because of those reasons,” he said. “But I truly believe most people voted for him because they want more money in their pocket and they want to feel safe.” Originally published by the Daily Caller News Foundation The post James Carville Breaks Down ‘Big Mistakes’ That Doomed Harris’ Presidential Bid appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Could America's politics of contempt lead to civil war?

Could America's politics of contempt lead to civil war?

When Taylor Swift, America's most notable "childless cat lady," belted out "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," she was singing about one of her many exes. But she might as well have been commenting on the state of American politics. The left and the right are like two people trapped in a toxic, spiteful relationship, each seething with contempt for the other. Is a national "breakup" inevitable? This is where the left stands today: not only criticizing the other side but actually rejoicing in its suffering. As this election makes especially clear, each side views the other as a threat to America’s future. The left looks at the right and sees a stubborn, regressive faction clinging to an outdated vision of America — one that resists diversity, equity, and inclusion. The right, meanwhile, sees the left as a dangerous, self-righteous force tearing down the foundations of the country in the name of progress. While both liberals and conservatives face the temptation to villainize their opponents, these days, only one side seems to consider the other as irredeemably evil. For all his allegedly "divisive" rhetoric, Donald Trump has repeatedly made it clear that he intends to work for all American citizens, regardless of race, color, or creed. It's a big tent, and even his political "enemies" are welcome.Consider Trump's recent, much-misrepresented vow to protect women "whether the women like it or not." On the left, by contrast, public figures like Sam Harris and Destiny openly scorn conservatives, branding them as “low information” or low IQ — sneering as if they’re talking about a different species altogether. To quote another Swift song, "You Need to Calm Down." Destiny's ChildishDestiny, born Steven Kenneth Bonnell II, lives up to his pretentious name. But he’s not just pretentious; he’s downright repugnant. Recently, he has become the left's primary attack dog, embodying the worst kind of partisan contempt. This bitter, angry provocateur frequently pops up on "Piers Morgan Uncensored" and a number of popular podcasts, where he revels in his role as a divisive figure. On social media, meanwhile, he can be found posting the vilest of opinions. Shortly after the first assassination attempt on Donald Trump, the tiny terror took to X to ridicule Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old volunteer fire chief who lost his life at the rally. This wasn’t just a comment on political differences; it was a callous dismissal of another human being's life, purely because he was on the "wrong" side. This is where the left stands today: not only criticizing the other side but actually rejoicing in its suffering. Political opponents are seen as irredeemable, less than human, and unworthy of sympathy, even in death. Figures like Destiny don’t just stir up disagreement; they stoke the flames of disgust and dehumanization that widen the divide in this country. Political leaders only make matters worse. Hillary Clinton’s infamous 2016 remark labeling Trump supporters as “deplorables” didn’t just alienate millions; it arguably cost her the election. Fast forward eight years, and Joe Biden’s recent characterization of Trump supporters as “garbage” only served to emphasize the left's utter contempt for half of America (more on this in a minute).Ballots before bulletsJust a decade ago, the idea of Americans going to war against each other again seemed unthinkable, a relic of a brutal past. The Civil War was history — a reminder of the darkest days of division and bloodshed. Yet today, that distant fear feels closer than ever. The idea of Americans clashing not just at the ballot box but on the battlefield no longer seems absurd. The seeds of hatred, distrust, and outright disdain have already been planted. This brings us to the psychology of contempt. And the contempt is visceral. To be clear, contempt is not mere anger; it runs much deeper. It’s loathing; it’s sheer hatred. According to psychologist Dr. John Gottman, contempt is the strongest predictor of lasting estrangement. It’s a malignant cancer — once it takes hold, the prognosis is almost always dire. What can be done? In personal relationships, contempt can sometimes be eased through open communication, empathy, and a genuine effort to understand one another. But the divide between the left and right today is vastly different and far more complex. We’ve crossed a line — the Rubicon, if you will — and there’s really no turning back.United we stoodThe truth is that the only event likely to unite the nation for more than a fleeting moment would be a tragedy on the scale of September 11 — a catastrophic incident that compels all Americans to confront their shared humanity amid the chaos. In the wake of those devastating attacks, Andrew Kohut from the Pew Research Center conducted a thorough analysis of public opinion, comparing sentiments expressed before and after that fateful day. His findings revealed that the attacks not only galvanized a sense of national identity but also altered the public's perception of threats, trust in government, and overall political engagement. The United States of America was, at that moment in time, truly united. But that was then, and this is now.On second thought, I ask, would even a second September 11 be enough to unite the nation? That’s how fractured the country has become, and things are likely to get much worse before they get better. I take no pleasure in saying this, but we must confront this harsh reality if we ever hope to change the nation’s trajectory. With each passing second, contempt deepens, and the possibility of uniting the nation slips further away.

Barack Obama congratulates Trump and blames inflation for Kamala Harris' devastating loss

Former President Barack Obama congratulated President-elect Donald Trump on his astounding electoral victory and blamed inflation for the devastating loss for Democrats. Obama released the statement on Wednesday afternoon after Election Day about the time that Vice President Kamala Harris ended her concession speech at Howard University in Washington, D.C.'Progress requires us to extend good faith and grace - even to people with whom we deeply disagree.' "[T]he results are in, and we want to congratulate President Trump and Senator Vance on their victory," wrote Obama. "This is obviously not the outcome we had hoped for, given our profound disagreements with the Republican ticket on a whole host of issues. But living in a democracy is about recognizing that our point of view won't always win out, and being willing to accept the peaceful transfer of power." While the vote tabulation is still ongoing, Trump appears to have increased his support among nearly every demographic and in every single state. Some have projected Republicans to have seized control of the U.S. Senate, and the fate of the House of Representatives remains to be determined. Obama assigned the blame for his party's devastating losses on the pandemic and the resultant inflation. "Michelle and I could not be prouder of Vice President Harris and Governor Walz - two extraordinary public servants who ran a remarkable campaign," Obama continued. "As I said on the campaign trail, America has been through a lot over the last few years - from a historic pandemic and price hikes resulting from the pandemic, to rapid change and the feeling a lot of folks have that, no matter how hard they work, treading water is the best they can do. Those conditions have created headwinds for democratic incumbents around the world, and last night showed that America is not immune."Polls showed that high inflation and the state of the economy were among the most important concerns for likely voters in the election. "The good news is that these problems are solvable - but only if we listen to each other, and only if we abide by the core constitutional principles and democratic norms that made this country great. In a country as big and diverse as ours, we won't always see eye-to-eye on everything. But progress requires us to extend good faith and grace - even to people with whom we deeply disagree," Obama continued. "That's how we've come this far, and it's how we'll keep building a country that is more fair and more just, more equal and more free," he concluded. Harris said in her concession speech that she had congratulated Trump and his running mate JD Vance and had promised to help facilitate a peaceful transfer of power. Like Blaze News? If there’s one announcement that would cause the most hysteria within the gaming community, it’d be a delay to GTA 6. Fans have been waiting well over a decade for this behemoth of a sequel, and it would be a huge blow if they had to wait any longer than they’ve already endured. As a result, Take-Two’s quarterly earnings reports have become nail-biting moments - no one wants to see its current launch window shift as it updates shareholders on its future pipeline. Thankfully, another report has been and gone without any bad news about the new Grand Theft Auto - it’s still on track.
