Lorenz went on to say that she had personally watched people she loved “suffer” because of people like Thompson. She claimed that feeling “joy” at the death of one did not mean she wanted more of them to die. Shortly after the clip went viral, Semafor reported that Vox Media — which partnered with Lorenz to distribute her podcast — was severing ties with her. The report indicated that the contract between Lorenz and Vox was set to expire at the end of the year, and that a decision had been made not to renew that contract prior to her controversial comments. Lorenz has denied that Vox is walking away from the partnership, promising to reveal all on her podcast in the coming days.
