Trump Picks Attorney Harmeet Dhillon To Be ‘Tireless Defender’ Of Constitutional Rights At DOJ

President-elect Donald Trump announced on Monday that he was nominating attorney Harmeet Dhillon to a top position in the Department of Justice under his second administration. “I am pleased to nominate Harmeet K. Dhillon as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Justice,” Trump said in a post to Truth Social. “Throughout her career, Harmeet has stood up consistently to protect our cherished Civil Liberties, including taking on Big Tech for censoring our Free Speech, representing Christians who were prevented from praying together during COVID, and suing corporations who use woke policies to discriminate against their workers.” He added: “Harmeet is one of the top Election lawyers in the Country, fighting to ensure that all, and ONLY, legal votes are counted. She is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Virginia Law School, and clerked in the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Harmeet is a respected member of the Sikh religious community. In her new role at the DOJ, Harmeet will be a tireless defender of our Constitutional Rights, and will enforce our Civil Rights and Election Laws FAIRLY and FIRMLY.” Dhillon and her law firm, The Dhillon Law Group, have aided Trump in some of his court battles, represented The Daily Wire in the legal fight that led to the Supreme Court blocking the Biden administration from enforcing a COVID vaccine mandate for private employers, and participated in other legal fights in favor of conservative causes. The lawyer has also held GOP roles in California and challenged Ronna McDaniel to lead the Republican National Committee last year. In response to Trump’s announcement, Dhillon shared a post on X that expressed gratitude for being picked and said that she looked forward to working with Trump’s nominee for U.S. attorney general, Pam Bondi. I'm extremely honored by President Trump's nomination to assist with our nation's civil rights agenda. It has been my dream to be able to serve our great country, and I am so excited to be part of an incredible team of lawyers led by @PamBondi. I cannot wait to get to work! I cannot wait to get to work!” Dhillon said, adding: “I would not be here today without my amazing mother and brother’s support, and my beloved father Tejpal and husband Sarv, who did not live to see this day. I hope I will honor their memories, with God’s grace.”

Ted Cruz: The ‘Rebels’ Who Overtook Syria Are From ISIS, Al-Qaeda

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) warned this week that those who are cheering on the downfall of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad should realize that those who conquered might be even worse than he was. Cruz made the remarks on his “Verdict” podcast with co-host Ben Ferguson when talking about the stunning collapse of the regime after terrorists launched a campaign that lasted just a little over a week. “His falling is a major loss for Russia. It’s a major loss for Iran. It’s a major loss for Hezbollah, all were allies,” Cruz said. “All are seriously hurt by his falling, but the rebels who have toppled him may well be even worse. It is radical Islamists who have been fighting against him. Many of them are remnants of Al-Qaeda, remnants of the Islamic State, and the people of Syria and Israel and America may soon find that the new leadership is even worse than the old.” Cruz noted that the world is a dangerous place and there are evil dictators who lead countries, but that does not mean toppling those regimes will lead to a better outcome. CHECK OUT THE DAILY WIRE HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE “We’ve seen a pattern for the past 20 years of Americans supporting people toppling dictators who are fighting terrorists, only to have the terrorists take over and start fighting Americans instead,” he said. “And my perspective on this is, is this good for America or not? I would say at best, it is too soon to tell.”” He acknowledged that Assad was “a cruel and horrible dictator” and “a monster”, but that this moment felt a lot like other dictators who were toppled, like Saddam Hussein. “They also celebrated the Cuban revolution in 1959, and we have seen many, many times that revolutions of one oppressive dictator can far too often, be replaced by an even worse regime,” he said. “And so, I think this is an exceptionally dangerous time right now and it is going to be important to do everything we can to prevent chemical weapons from falling into the hands of Al-Qaeda terrorists who would use them against Americans.” President Trump put out a strong response to the chaos in Syria. This is a dangerous time right now, and I am grateful that President Trump will bring clear-eyed leadership and stabilize the chaos that Joe Biden’s weakness allowed to unfold.https://t.co/ZU7UaWJeQX pic.twitter.com/yTE2FulnUY — Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) December 9, 2024

Major Figures Laud Jury For Acquitting Daniel Penny

Major Figures Laud Jury For Acquitting Daniel Penny

Several notable figures praised the Manhattan jury on Monday for acquitting 26-year-old Marine veteran Daniel Penny this week of criminally negligent homicide. Penny was accused of putting homeless man Jordan Neely in a fatal chokehold on a New York City subway car last year after he had threatened other passengers on the train. “I have not said much about this case out of fear of (negatively) influencing the jury,” said Vice President-elect J.D. Vance. “But thank God justice was done in this case. It was a scandal Penny was ever prosecuted in the first place.” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis posted on X: “The acquittal of Daniel Penny is clearly the just and correct verdict.” “I must admit I was skeptical that a jury in New York City would reach a unanimous not guilty verdict, and the jury deserves credit for doing the right thing,” he continued. “Meanwhile, is there a worse prosecutor in America than Alvin Bragg?” Professional golfer Phil Mickelson called the ruling “common sense.” “Finally a little common sense. There never should have been a trial,” he said. “He should be commended for selfless actions to protect the other passengers and those who brought charges should be out of a job.” CHECK OUT THE DAILY WIRE HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE Maye Musk weighed in: “The Daniel Penny case made me so angry. Now it’s over. He is our hero.” “America needs more men like Daniel Penny,” added The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro. “America needs fewer prosecutors like Alvin Bragg.” Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale posted on X: “It’s not a crime to defend women and children; it’s your duty as an honorable man.” “I’m sorry he went through this; we need to stop electing crazy D prosecutors!” he continued, later adding: “We need to give him the hero’s treatment and show that it’s worth it.” Jurors were originally tasked with determining whether Penny “recklessly” caused the death of Neely by using the chokehold – or second-degree manslaughter – or if he was guilty of criminally negligent homicide, a lesser charge that carries a maximum sentence of four years in prison. According to court documents, the lesser charge requires the jury to determine Penny failed to recognize Neely’s life was at risk as he held him in the chokehold. On Friday, the jury indicated it was deadlocked over the manslaughter charge, The Daily Wire reported at the time. Judge Maxwell Wiley initially told the jury to return to deliberations and find a unanimous decision, but they again said they couldn’t. At that point, the judge and Assistant District Attorney Dafna Yoran discussed the possibility of dropping the manslaughter charge and allowing the jury to deliberate on the lesser charge in an effort to find a guilty verdict. When the Jury returned to work on Monday, it took them less than an hour to return a not guilty verdict for the lesser charge of criminally negligent homicide.

They Take in a Kitten Who Climbs Right into Their Arms, Knowing Life is About to Get a Lot Easier

They took in a kitten who climbed right into their arms, knowing his life was about to get a lot easier. SawyerAndreaChristianWhile caring for a cat colony, Sam, an animal rescuer, noticed a gray kitten with an injured lip. She sprang into action and brought the little guy to safety. The kitten, with a stench wafting from his mouth, was in desperate need of medical attention. Andrea Christian, a fellow animal rescuer and fosterer, answered the call to help and welcomed the kitten (Sawyer) into her care. After weeks of roaming the streets, Sawyer took his first steps into a home. He was found outside with an injured lipAndreaChristianMaking himself right at home, he climbed into his foster mom's arms for a cuddle. His sweet nature and zest for life quickly won over everyone in the house."I reached out to a friend who volunteers at one of the local rescue groups (AnimalLuvr's Dream Rescue). She immediately made a plan and implemented the plan," Andrea shared. Sawyer was immediately friendly and playful in his foster home AndreaChristianThey arranged surgery to repair Sawyer's lip. AndreaChristianAfter about two weeks in foster care, Sawyer made a full recovery and blossomed into an adventurous spirit. He scaled cat trees, leaped onto window sills, and nestled into the hearts of everyone he met."I cannot express how playful, silly, affectionate, and easygoing this beautiful boy has become. He is a dream boy." Sawyer has made a full recoveryAndreaChristianSawyer adores all his toys but is especially fond of his purple catnip mouse, which he carries with him everywhere. 'Defund the Police' advocate mocked after thieves steal all of her property in San Francisco

An advocate for defunding police in San Francisco was ridiculed on social media after thieves allegedly stole a Uhaul moving truck with all of her possessions. Darcie Bell posted about the thievery on Saturday on her account with the profile name "Jerque Costeau" and got immediately hit with mockery when her support for "Defund the Police" was uncovered from the same account. 'I don’t about the people who stole it, people steal s***, I just hope they take the stuff they need and I can recover the personal stuff that’s the stuff I’m struggling with.' “Hey guys. If you see a 26 foot uhaul truck with the Arizona plate AL50003- would you let me know because it had like everything I own on it," she posted. "It was stolen near Noe and Market and fun fact: @uhaul doesn’t put gps on their trucks and thieves apparently know this." She tagged San Francisco Mayor London Breed and other officials asking that they require Uhaul to have GPS trackers on its vehicles so that stolen items can be recovered more easily. "I just want my s*** back, the sentimental stuff, please. I don’t about the people who stole it, people steal s***, I just hope they take the stuff they need and I can recover the personal stuff that’s the stuff I’m struggling with," she added. While many saw the juxtaposition as karma, Bell argued that the incident actually proved her point that police are useless and should be defunded. She spoke to the New York Post about her case and criticized police. “I haven’t found my s***! The cops didn’t do s***! U-Haul made me file a f****ing police report!” she said. “There’s cameras all over this city. They haven’t done s***!" she added. "I just want my stuff back!”She also lambasted many of those who mocked her. "Look at these good, Christian 'victim advocates' celebrating my kids losing their belongings at Christmas," she wrote. Bell claimed that she had the Uhaul because it had become so expensive in San Francisco that she needed to move out. Like Blaze News? Gavin Newsom's INSANE electric vehicle policy could impact YOU

Gavin Newsom's INSANE electric vehicle policy could impact YOU

If your plan was to make cars more expensive for everyone, then you would do exactly what Gov. Gavin Newsom is doing with his extreme emissions regulations. “No matter where you live,” Jill Savage of “Blaze News Tonight” comments. “We’re talking about impossible quotas, massive fines for automakers, and even a new gas tax. It’s going to make drivers furious.” Automotive expert and journalist Lauren Fix isn’t thrilled with the plan, either. “There’s a lot going on,” she tells Savage and Matthew Peterson. “Right now, California currently has from the California Air Resources Board a mandate that by 2026, 35% of all vehicles sold in the state of California should be all electric.” “By 2030, all electric,” she continues. “No vehicles will be allowed to be sold in the state that are gasoline powered. That’s going to be a problem, considering the cost of electricity there is the highest in the country.” But it gets worse. “Every car sold today, as we speak, has a $20,000 fine on top of it for not meeting the California air resources board,” Fix explains. “So every manufacturer is paying a loss of $20,000 on every car that’s sold.” Starting the first of the year, California will also be adding a 68-cent tax on every car that’s sold. “That’ll make it even more expensive. So the idea is to incentivize you to give up your gasoline-powered vehicle, but then you have a car payment, higher insurance rates, and no place to charge,” Fix says, noting that it will not only be California affected. “It’s going to actually affect the whole country, because car manufacturers are not going to build a car just for the state of California. They’re going to build a car for the entire country,” she explains. While 17 states, including New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts, unsurprisingly side with California — Fix believes Trump can stop them. “If I had his ear, I would tell him to go after the California Air Resources Board, get them to dissipate, because President Obama gave them even more power. So whatever California says, the entire country is forced to follow it,” Fix says. “Car manufacturers can’t afford to have billions of dollars in fines. Instead, they’re taking millions of dollars in losses, and we’re all paying for it,” she adds. 'SNL' blasted for 'absolutely disgusting' jokes on 'Weekend Update' in relation to fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO

"Saturday Night Live" took a beating for "absolutely disgusting" jokes — as one commenter put it — on its latest "Weekend Update" segment in relation to the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last week."Weekend Update" led its segment Saturday with jokes in connection with the fatal shooting in Manhattan.'Disgusting. I couldn’t watch this segment. The victim’s family and friends are very much grieving right now.'“This week, New York City officials sent a tough message on crime: ‘If you shoot somebody in the middle of the street, you better get on your bike, hop on a bus, and get the heck out of here, mister,’” co-host Colin Jost quipped to begin the segment — to quite a bit of laughter.Jost continued: “The manhunt continues for the assassin who gunned down the CEO of UnitedHealthcare on Wednesday, and it really says something about America that a guy was murdered in cold blood and the two main reactions were, ‘Yeah, well, health care stinks!’ And also, ‘Girl, that shooter hot.'”Jost added with an incredulous giggle that the suspect "just bicycled away" after the shooting: "Probably because they have every cop in the city guarding our Christmas tree." The Christmas tree lighting at Rockefeller Plaza took place hours after the shooting.“The NYPD now believes the suspect left the city on a bus from Port Authority," Jost also said. "Uh, thanks, but a Port Authority passenger who looks like a murderer actually widens the search."With that, Michael Che took over and said, “New York City police say that they were able to get the smiling picture of the suspect after the man apparently was caught on camera at a local hostel flirting with a female employee, whose name has been reported as, ‘Lucky S. Bechalive.'"Despite the consistent laughter the co-hosts' jokes elicited, a number of other folks didn't take kindly to their humor.“Disgusting. I couldn’t watch this segment. The victim’s family and friends are very much grieving right now,” one observer wrote beneath a YouTube video of the segment, according to the New York Post.“Agreed," another commenter responded, the Post noted. "I don’t usually watch SNL, and I can see by the segment and comments supporting it that I will no longer be watching it. Joking about someone’s murder like that is absolutely disgusting… a family is grieving right now."The paper added that a X user wrote, “Classless."You can view the "Weekend Update" segment here.Like Blaze News?
