Lack of sleep means that faces are perceived differently

DOMESTIC. A new study from researchers at Uppsala University shows that young adults who suffer from sleep deprivation perceive other people's facial expressions differently. Lack of focus can explain the phenomenon.

- When they suffered from lack of sleep, our subjects spent less time focusing on faces. Since facial expressions are crucial for understanding the emotional state of others, this can lead to reading others' moods incorrectly or too late, says Lieve van Egmond, first author of the study and doctoral student at the Department of Surgical Sciences at Uppsala University.

Those who did not sleep properly perceived, among other things, angry faces as less credible and healthy. Neutral facial expressions were perceived by the same group as less attractive.

- It indicates that lack of sleep is associated with more negative social impressions of others. This could lead to less desire to socialize with others, says Christian Benedict, associate professor of neuroscience and the study's senior author.

The results are published in the scientific journal Nature and Science of Sleep.

Dear Friends and Patriots of COS Ohio,

I’m excited about an event that is coming up quickly on Saturday, May 14 in Morningview, KY from 10 pm – 60 pm. This exciting event is a biker rally in northern Kentucky hosted by an organization called “Boots on the Ground/Bikers for Trump”. Nationwide this organization boasts 700,000 supporters and, as I understand it, is becoming familiar with Convention of States.

Per COS Kentucky State Director, Mary Jo Wedding, COS will have two booths at this rally. She has asked Ohio COS supporters to wear COS gear and walk the grounds passing out pamphlets and talking with people about the movement.

In addition, the event will include vendors, speakers, food, and music. David Schneider, Regional Director for COS, will be speaking. Bill Scott, COS Ohio State Director, plans to attend to help educate attendees.

Please understand the biker community can be a tremendous asset to the COS movement. They are organized, passionate, and patriotic. I expect this event to be great fun and to reap large numbers of new COS supporters. There are two candidates for the Ohio legislature listed who will be attending this event. While there should be plenty of Ohioans in attendance, we need Kentucky to pass our resolution as well!

"Pro-abortion groups are planning protests at churches on Mother's Day this Sunday.
The liberal group, "Ruth Sent Us" challenged people to demonstrate at Catholic churches.
It tweeted: "Whether you're a 'Catholic for Choice,' ex-Catholic, of other or no faith, recognize that six extremist Catholics set out to overturn Roe. Stand at or in a local Catholic Church on Sun May 8."
The group has also been threatening to protest at the homes of the six conservative Supreme Court Justices on Wednesday. On the web, the group posted what it claimed to be the street names and cities and states of Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett, and John Roberts"
