In a report, the police describe a development in the wrong direction and it is predicted that the criminal networks in Gothenburg and the surrounding area will grow and increase their criminal capacity in the coming years. The police have also discovered new family-based criminal networks that have established themselves in western Sweden and there is a risk that these will be able to grow in the long term. To stop the development in Gothenburg, more must be done, says municipal councilor Elisabet Lann (KD).

It describes an aggravated situation in the so-called vulnerable areas in northeast Gothenburg. This is judged to be partly due to the disinformation campaign against the social services but also as a consequence of conflicts and an aggressive recruitment of young people in the area.

Employees also describe how a family-based criminal network in the area has such a large impact that it can sometimes be difficult to conduct regular business.

At the same time, Lann states in his debate article that no integration initiatives in the world will be able to reverse the development as long as family-based criminal networks can influence and limit the public's presence and efforts.

As part of the work against organized crime and unauthorized influence, Gothenburg has set up a central competence team with staffing of HR, legal and security competence. Now they want to review the possibility of creating a special unit which, in addition to assisting with advice and support, is given the task of also handling high-risk cases.

Lann also wants to see the protection of employees who work with difficult cases where they are exposed to criminals with large violent capital strengthened.

It must be really difficult to be a criminal in Gothenburg. From a political point of view, we have an obligation to do everything in our power to restore security and the rule of law. The Christian Democrats strive in all situations for a society that is cohesive. We must never give in to the criminal family-based networks that have established parallel societies marked by fear and exclusion that tear our society apart.
