Voting malfunction highlights Harris' name with Trump selection, Kentucky county clerk confirms

Footage showing a Kentuckian attempting to vote for President Donald Trump but having her selection switched to a vote for Kamala Harris went viral this week, prompting concerns about possible vote rigging as well as about potentially deceptive video edits — with some partisans prematurely concluding, "This never happened." Laurel County Clerk Tony Brown (R) initially suggested Thursday that the apparent malfunction reported at the Laurel County courthouse annex in London could not be recreated but later confirmed the video was in fact genuine and that the glitch was replicable. "The Attorney General's office has been to the vote center to check the device that has been shown across social media today," Brown noted on Facebook. "In full disclosure, after several minutes of attempting to recreate the scenario, it did occur." 'It went back into service.' Brown indicated that the glitch took place when "some area in between the boxes" was touched. Although officials observed the issue reoccur on one occasion, Brown noted that "after that we tried for several minutes to do it again and could not." The county clerk clarified that the ballot marking device seen in the video shows voters their selections for every race and issue, then confirms that they are satisfied before printing the ballot. If the printed ballot contains an error, voters can spoil it and receive a new one. However, Brown indicated Kentucky law permits only two spoiled ballots. Brown shared a video where the same machine allegedly functioned "with no issues," indicating that while it was temporarily taken out of service until a representative from the state attorney general's office arrived to investigate, there have been no issues "since it went back into service." 'I hate that this has occurred here in Laurel County.' Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman stated, "The Kentucky Attorney General’s Department of Criminal Investigations (DCI) quickly responded to the complaint from Laurel County. Detectives have been in touch with the county clerk and recommended they change out the voting machine." "All Kentucky voters can have confidence that our elections are secure and any potential issues will be addressed quickly," added Coleman. Brown added that the voter whose selection was ostensibly switched from Trump to Harris ultimately "did cast her ballot which she said was correct." "I hate that this has occurred here in Laurel County," continued Brown. "We strive to have accurate, secure and safe elections that we are proud to provide to our citizens." Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams stressed shortly after Brown confirmed the glitch was replicated at least once that "there is no 'vote-switching,'" reiterating that the voter who took the video ended up with a ballot correctly printed "as marked for the candidate of her choice." "Get your voting information from legitimate sources, not TikTok or cat turds," added Adams. Adams appears to have been referencing a viral post of the malfunction video on TikTok, which has over 241,000 likes, as well as a post by Phillip Buchanan, the individual behind the popular Catturd account on X, that had netted over 2.3 million impressions by Friday morning. Michon Lindstrom, Adams' spokeswoman, indicated the secretary's office "has received no complaints about 'vote switching' or other long-ago debunked rumors," reported the Lexington Herald-Leader. Laurel County overwhelmingly voted for Trump over then-candidate Joe Biden in 2020, 23,237 to 4,475. Trump won the state by over 25 points that year. Coleman implored Kentuckians to report suspected election law violations to his office's election fraud hotline at (800) 328-VOTE, noting, "Our dedicated team of investigators, prosecutors and support staff is working tirelessly to protect every vote." Ex-Clinton adviser predicts Trump landslide: 'Absolute wipeout'

Former Bill Clinton campaign adviser Dick Morris predicted that Donald Trump will secure an “electoral landslide” in the upcoming presidential election against Kamala Harris.During a Thursday interview on “The Jeff Katz Show,” Morris said he anticipates an “absolute wipeout.”'If Trump wins, we’ve got control even if we don’t pick up another seat.'Morris told Katz, “I think Trump is going to win, and I don’t think it’s going to be that close. I think he’ll win the popular vote narrowly, but that will translate into an electoral landslide.”He explained that in 2016, Trump defeated his opponent, Hillary Clinton, in a “wipeout,” despite the Democratic candidate winning the popular vote by 2.6%. “I think that’s what’s going to happen here,” Morris continued. “I think Trump is going to carry all of the swing states, with the possible exception of Wisconsin.”Morris predicted the Republican presidential nominee would win Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.“Trump will pick up a few surprises, like maybe Virginia and maybe Minnesota,” Morris told Katz. “With those kinds of numbers, I think Trump is going to win about 360 electoral votes, and Harris is going to win about 100 electoral votes. So it’ll be an absolute wipeout.”Katz said he has a “sneaking suspicion” that Trump will win Virginia. Morris agreed that Trump has a “very good chance” in the state. Katz asked Morris whether he predicted that Trump’s success would carry down the ballot and secure him a Republican majority in the House and Senate. “I think he’ll clearly keep the House and probably add five or 10 seats to the margin. And in the Senate race, I see him obviously picking up West Virginia, which is kind of the given, and Montana, which looks very safe. And then Ohio looks like he could win it,” Morris said.Morris stated that the polling data from Michigan and Wisconsin look “very positive” for Trump but added that he is “not sure he’ll win those states.”“He’ll come very close, and he may well win them,” Morris concluded.“It’s important to understand that in a Senate race, that if your opponent is under 50%, which most of these incumbents are, the undecided usually breaks against. Because if you’re undecided, it’s like saying you can’t be married to the same woman next year,” Morris told Katz.“I think that indicates some discontent with the Democratic incumbents.”Morris explained that many of the Senate races “are hanging by one point,” but with the Democratic incumbents under 50%, Republicans could gain five to six seats.“The point is that if Trump wins, we’ve got control even if we don’t pick up another seat, even if we lose West Virginia,” Morris continued, noting that Trump’s vice presidential nominee, Sen. JD Vance (Ohio), would vote Republican.Katz asked Morris to share his thoughts on Trump’s McDonald’s shift and garbage truck briefing.Morris responded, stating that Harris’ efforts to frame Trump as an out-of-touch, “elite billionaire” are not working.“Trump looks great,” he added.Like Blaze News? Hate crime, terrorism charges filed in case of Orthodox Jewish man shot while on his way to synagogue in Chicago

Hate crime, terrorism charges filed in case of Orthodox Jewish man shot while on his way to synagogue in Chicago

Hate crime and terrorism charges have been filed in the case of an Orthodox Jewish man who was shot while on his way to synagogue in Chicago last weekend. The new felony charges against the suspect — Sidi Mohamed Abdallahi, 22 — were announced Thursday and stem from what police are now calling a "targeted" attack, WMAQ-TV reported.'We did not secure these charges because of public pressure or because of media attention.'Police Supt. Larry Snelling said detectives found "digital evidence" on Abdallahi's phone that "indicated he planned the shooting and specifically targeted people of Jewish faith," the station said.Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx added that the attacker "sought out this particular community, sought out this particular faith," WMAQ noted. After Saturday morning's shooting, prominent members of Chicago's Jewish community were outraged that hate crime charges weren't brought against Abdallahi, particularly because the shooting victim reportedly was wearing a kippah — the Jewish skullcap — when he was attacked.City Alderman Debra Silverstein — who attends the same synagogue as the shooting victim — earlier this week said in a message to constituents that she was "very disappointed" that hate crime charges had not been filed despite "evidence that seems to suggest an anti-Semitic motive for the shooting."The Jewish United Fund, an advocacy group, said Chicago police indicated during a Monday meeting with the group that Abdallahi shouted "Allahu Akbar" during a shoot-out with cops that occurred about a half-hour after the Orthodox Jewish man was shot. WMAQ reported in a separate story that the JUF said police who met with its members indicated Abdallahi shouted the well-known Muslim declaration while firing at officers, which led to a concern that hate played a role in the incident. However, WMAQ said police haven't confirmed those details to the station. In addition, Abdallahi reportedly is an illegal immigrant from Mauritania — a majority-Muslim country in northwest Africa. Fox News, citing four law enforcement sources, said he was released into the United States after being captured in Border Patrol’s San Diego Sector in March 2023.Fox News noted that the Department of Homeland Security considers illegal immigrants from Mauritania as "special interest aliens" due to security concerns and that they're supposed to receive additional DHS vetting.More from the cable network:Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had initially told Fox News Digital that it had no interaction with him. Law enforcement sources say that there is detainer request on Abdallahi — a request that he is transferred to ICE custody in the event of his release — but that "sanctuary" policies in Cook County, Illinois, prohibit local authorities from cooperating with it.Previously Snelling said there wasn't enough evidence to charge Abdallahi with a hate crime."We do investigations [that are] based on facts that we gather into evidence in order to present charges," Snelling said earlier this week, according to WMAQ. "Until we have those facts, we will not announce charges. It's about what we can prove at the time based on the facts."After Snelling announced the hate crime and terrorism charges Thursday, WMAQ noted that he insisted "we did not secure these charges because of public pressure or because of media attention. We will never go out in public, make statements, allegations, accusations or attempt to bring charges without any proof of what we're attempting to charge someone for. Gathering evidence and facts takes time, and we have to do it in a timely fashion so that we don't impede the possibility of getting charges. ... We will never do things just on belief. We need proof."Snelling told WMAQ that Abdallahi remains hospitalized and detectives haven't been able to interview him, which has made it difficult to determine a motive.Abdallahi's court appearance earlier this week was postponed due to his hospitalization, WMAQ said. His next scheduled court date is Nov. 7, officials told the station, adding that a public defender has been assigned to him.Police said that evidence indicates the gunman was "working alone" and they don't believe there are any additional suspects, WMAQ added. What's the background?Chicago police said Abdallahi was identified as the offender who shot the 39-year-old man in the 2600 block of West Farwell Avenue around 9:30 a.m. Saturday. At a Monday news conference, Snelling said the suspect shot the victim "in the shoulder without saying a word," according to NBC News, which added that the victim was treated in a hospital and discharged Saturday afternoon.Police said about 30 minutes after the first shooting, Abdallahi fired at responding officers and paramedics multiple times from various locations. Police said officers returned fire, striking the offender, who was placed into custody, taken to an area hospital, and charged. Police said a weapon was recovered at the scene. Police said no officers or fire department members were injured. The suspect was in critical condition, investigators told WGN-TV.Abdallahi was charged with six counts of first-degree attempted murder, seven counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm upon a police officer/firefighter, and one count of aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm, all of which are felonies, police said. You can view video here apparently showing part of the suspect's second wave of gunfire, and he hollers something at the 43-second mark after firing a shot. While that same moment is included in WLS-TV's video report at the 13-second mark, the station cuts the audio just before the suspect's outburst. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability said an investigation into the incident captured the scene on body cameras, WMAQ noted, adding that the video is expected to be released within 60 days of the shooting. You can view a video report here about the newly added hate crime and terrorism charges against Abdallahi.Like Blaze News? The Great Prosecutor’s record EXPOSED: ‘She’s never prosecuted a single case from beginning to end’

In addition to Trump hatred, the other pillar of Kamala Harris’ campaign is her claims that she was this brutal prosecutor in California, where she served as San Francisco’s district attorney from 2004 to 2011 and the state’s attorney general from 2011 to 2017. Allow Mark Levin to set the record straight. “She talks about her prosecutorial record, [but] she's never prosecuted a single case from beginning to end in what we call the first chair. That is, she's overseen an office. Now that's important, but when she says, 'I know these transnational gangs, I prosecuted them' — no, she didn’t,” says Levin. “I've looked everywhere ... nothing, zero.” When it came to prosecuting members of the clergy accused of sexual abuse in San Francisco during her reign as district attorney, “Kamala Harris didn’t do a damned thing; she didn’t bend a finger,” says Levin. As California’s AG, “she would prosecute people for marijuana use or the sale of minimal amounts of marijuana,” but “when she ran for attorney general,” she lied and said “she did not” prosecute people for marijuana, he adds. However, Levin points to another source — an unlikely one — that’s also exposing Harris’ prosecutorial record: CNN. In a recent piece, the network exposed two additional scandals related to Harris’ time as a prosecutor — the first being the murder of San Francisco police officer Isaac Espinoza by David Hill, an admitted gang member in 2004, right after Harris had been elected as the new DA. Following Espinoza’s tragic death, she publicly announced that she would not seek the death penalty for Hill. “Life without possibility of parole is a serious consequence,” she argued at the time. However, 10 years later, when Harris became California’s attorney general, she defended capital punishment when a judge tried to rid the state of the death penalty. The second scandal CNN unearthed related to California’s Truancy Law, which Harris vehemently championed as AG. Under this law, prosecutors could seek jail time for parents of truant children. And they did. Ayman and Alice Haddadin, whom CNN interviewed, had no criminal history whatsoever but were nonetheless arrested when their middle school son missed 12 nonconsecutive days of school due to severe allergy issues. However, in 2019, when Harris first ran for president, she criticized California’s Truancy Law and said that it was “never the intention” to jail parents. Harris is “a nasty person,” says Levin. “She’s coldblooded.” To hear more of his commentary on Kamala Harris’ prosecutorial record, watch the clip above.
