OpenAI has finally released Sora

OpenAI has finally released Sora

Free users can still browse a feed of AI-generated videos created by the community. | Screenshot: OpenAI OpenAI launched Sora, its text-to-video AI model, on Monday as part of its 12-day “ship-mas” product release series, as The Verge previously reported it would. It’s available today on Sora.com for ChatGPT subscribers in the US and “most other countries,” and a new model, Sora Turbo. This updated model adds features like generating video from text, animating images, and remixing videos. With a ChatGPT Plus subscription, OpenAI says you can generate up to 50 priority videos (1,000 credits) at resolutions up to 720p with 5-second durations. The $200 per month ChatGPT Pro subscription that launched last week comes with “unlimited generations” and up to 500 priority videos while bumping the resolution to 1080p and the duration to 20 seconds. The more expensive plan also allows subscribers to download videos without a watermark and perform up to five generations simultaneously. OpenAI first teased its text-to-video AI model, Sora, in February, and earlier today, Marques Brownlee, aka MKBHD, confirmed the launch with a preview based on his experiences testing Sora so far. During the livestream, OpenAI showed off Sora’s new explore page with a feed of AI-generated videos created by other community members. The company highlighted a feature called “storyboards” that let you generate videos based on a sequence of prompts, as well as the ability to turn photos into videos. OpenAI also demonstrated a “remix” tool that lets you tweak Sora’s output with a text prompt, along with a way to “blend” two scenes together with AI. OpenAI says videos generated with Sora will have visible watermarks and C2PA metadata to indicate they’re made with AI. Before uploading an image or video to Sora, OpenAI prompts you to check off an agreement that says what you’re uploading doesn’t contain people under 18, explicit or violent content, and copyrighted material. It says the “misuse of media uploads” could result in an account ban or suspension. “We obviously have a big target on our back as OpenAI,” OpenAI vice president of research Aditya Ramesh said during the livestream. “We want to prevent illegal activity of Sora, but we also want to balance that with creative expression. We know that... will be an ongoing challenge, we might not get it perfect on day one. We’re starting a little conservative, and so if our moderation doesn’t quite get it right, just give us that feedback.” If you don’t have a ChatGPT subscription, you’ll still be able to browse through the feed of AI-generated videos created by other people using Sora. While the model will become available in the US and many other countries today, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said that it may “be a while” for a launch in “most of Europe and the UK.” The release of Sora comes just a week after a group of artists, who claimed to be part of the company’s alpha testing program, leaked the product in protest of being used by OpenAI for what they claim was “unpaid R&D and PR.”

OpenAI finally releases AI video generator Sora to the public

Days after launching its new ChatGPT Pro subscription with access to o1 pro mode, OpenAI is back with another massive announcement. On Monday, the organization began rolling out its AI video generator, Sora, to the public. You can now generate realistic videos with a text prompt on Sora.com, but you'll need a paid plan to get started. OpenAI first debuted Sora way back in February, granting access to a small group of individuals, organizations, and institutions. Since then, OpenAI has been building upon the initial release and is launching the faster Sora Turbo model today as well. In order to use Sora, you'll need ChatGPT Plus or ChatGPT Pro. Here's what you'll get out of Sora, depending on which subscription you have: ChatGPT Plus ($20/month): Up to 50 priority videos (1,000 credits), 720p resolution, and 5s duration ChatGPT Pro ($200/month): Up to 500 priority videos (10,000 credits), unlimited relaxed videos, up to 1080p resolution, 20s duration and 5 concurrent generations, download without watermark According to the company, Sora is now capable of generating videos up to 1080p resolution, 20 seconds long, and in widescreen, vertical, or square aspect ratios. You can also plug in your own assets to extend or change the generated video to your liking. It's also easier to manage all your AI videos with the new interfaces. The storyboard tool allows users to specify inputs for individual frames. There are also Featured and Recent feeds that are always being updated with videos from the community. "The version of Sora we are deploying has many limitations," OpenAI admits in its blog post for the rollout. "It often generates unrealistic physics and struggles with complex actions over long durations. Although Sora Turbo is much faster than the February preview, we’re still working to make the technology affordable for everyone. We’re introducing our video generation technology now to give society time to explore its possibilities and co-develop norms and safeguards that ensure it’s used responsibly as the field advances." One of those safeguards is the C2PA metadata that comes with every Sora-generated video. If you make a video with Sora, everyone who watches it will be able to verify its origin. Uploads of videos featuring people will also be limited at launch, and Sora will block forms of abuse such as child sexual abuse materials and sexual deepfakes altogether. You can learn more about OpenAI's text-to-video model on the company's Sora page. Iconic Bond Girl, Maud Adams, Looks Totally Different These Days In Rare Outing

Maud Adams is a two-time Bond Girl as she appeared in 1974’s The Man With the Golden Gun as Andrea Anders, and Octopussy a decade later as the title character. She also made a minor appearance in another Bond film, A View To Kill, in 1985. Maud was recently spotted running errands in Los Angeles while walking two dogs. She wore a casual outfit featuring a black jacket, matching pants and sneakers, and a quilted Chanel handbag alongside another leather tote. She kept her face bare, and her graying hair brushed to the back as she strolled with a pair of glasses on. Where is Maud Adams now? Iconic Bond girl, 79, looks unrecognizable on rare outing in LA… can you guess who? https://t.co/AxfeomOkfp — Zicutake USA Comment (@Zicutake) December 7, 2024   Maud looked slender and youthful for a 79-year-old as she strutted the streets. Her most recent appearance is in the ongoing series Blood Legacy, where she plays Msizi. This comes nearly two decades after her appearance in The Seekers, after which she took an acting hiatus during which she directed a few productions. Maud shot to fame with The Man With the Golden Gun four years after her debut at 25. With her second Bond Girl appearance, she built acclaim as the first and only one to play different Bond Girl characters. She once admitted to feeling grateful to have been a part of the pop culture franchise in her prime. Maud Adams/Everett Maud Adams’ life outside the spotlight Maud has favored private living in recent years, and not much is known about her personal life. She is currently married to private mediator and retired judge Charles Rubin, whom she walked down the aisle with 24 years after her divorce from photographer Roy Adams. Maud has no children from either of her marriages.  Maud Adams/Everett Her legacy still resounds across generations, as James Bond fans discuss her occasionally on social media. “How did I never notice that Maud Adams appeared in TWO Bond films? She also made a brief uncredited appearance in ‘A View to a Kill’ apparently. So three actually. I never knew that,” an X user recently figured.
