A vaguely-worded Missouri ballot initiative could overturn the state’s ban on transgender procedures for children if approved by voters, a conservative legal group warns. On Election Day, Missourians will vote on Amendment 3, a leftist-backed ballot initiative that restricts what laws can be passed on “all matters relating to reproductive health care.” In addition to upending Missouri’s robust pro-life laws, there are concerns that the amendment will erode parental rights and erase protections for children from transgender surgeries and hormone procedures.  Mary Catherine Martin, a lawyer with the Thomas More Society, told The Daily Wire that “nobody really knows the scope” of the amendment because of the messaging from its proponents and the broad language used in the amendment.  The amendment says: “The government shall not deny or infringe upon a person’s fundamental right to reproductive freedom, which is the right to make and carry out decisions about all matters relating to reproductive health care, including but not limited to prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, birth control, abortion care, miscarriage care, and respectful birthing conditions.” Because of this wording, Martin says that the state’s shielding of kids from transgender procedures could be struck down, because the broad reference to reproductive health care could encompass procedures like puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, genital surgeries, and mastectomies on girls who identify as boys.  “Gender transitions are matters related to reproductive healthcare. There’s really no way to define gender transition if it doesn’t involve the transfer of your reproductive organs, or exchange of your reproductive organs, alteration of your reproductive organs for something else,” she said. “And if it involves your reproductive organs, according to our federal government, that’s reproductive healthcare.” Martin was referring to the Department of Health and Human Services’s  definition of reproductive health care as care “that affects the health of an individual in all matters relating to the reproductive system and to its functions and processes.” To spread awareness about the amendment, Martin and the Thomas More Society put out a “decoder” document that highlights the amendment’s over-broad language. Missouri law bars doctors from removing the breasts of girls who identify as boys or giving children puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, which have been linked to heart issues, bone development problems, and fertility issues. Missouri’s Republican Governor, Mike Parson, and Senator Josh Hawley share concerns about the broad impact of Amendment 3.  “This is about an effort to come into our schools behind your backs without your knowledge, to tell our kids that there’s something wrong with them and to give them drugs that will sterilize them for life, to push them toward procedures that will fundamentally change their bodies irrevocably for life,” Hawley warned in September.  MATT WALSH’S ‘AM I RACIST?’ NOW STREAMING ON DAILYWIRE+ These concerns have been dismissed by legacy media as “fear-mongering” and “highly unlikely.”  However, Martin points out that the language of the amendment places no limits on what “matters relating to reproductive health care” means.  “There’s literally no argument that all matters relating to reproductive health care does not include the alteration of your reproductive organs,” Martin told The Daily Wire. “There is nothing in the amendment that narrows that category.” The amendment only needs over 50% of the vote to pass and be enshrined in Missouri’s constitution. The group pushing the amendment, Missourians for Constitutional Freedom, has raised nearly $31 million to promote its efforts, while opponents have raised just around $3.2 million.  Martin said that the amendment was not just about abortion, but “an ACLU Christmas list” that could lead to taxpayer-funded abortions and transgender surgeries, the end of single-sex bathrooms and sports teams, and the end of parental consent laws. 

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), the chairman of the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, said on Tuesday that the Biden administration’s Federal Trade Commission decided to “go after” Elon Musk just days after the billionaire purchased Twitter in 2022. Jordan spoke to “Morning Wire” following a House Judiciary report that showed that FTC Chair Lina Khan “called for an immediate vote” on a consent decree against Twitter days after Musk took over the social media platform, according to The Daily Caller. In the first three months of Musk’s ownership of Twitter, the FTC sent over 350 demands for documents and information from the company. The Republican congressman said that emails reviewed by the Weaponization of the Federal Government subcommittee showed the FTC ramping up the urgency for consent decrees “due to Elon Musk’s purchase of the company.” “And then once he bought the company, they went full tilt, sending him all kinds of letters saying we need this information, that information,” Jordan added. “They even ask, who are the journalists? You’re talking about First Amendment issues. Who are the journalists you’re talking to relative to the whole ‘Twitter Files’ issue?” After Musk took over Twitter, he shared internal company information with multiple journalists who compiled it in the “Twitter Files” series. The Twitter Files revealed details about the social media platform’s actions against conservative users, including how it censored the Hunter Biden laptop story before the 2020 election and partnered with the Biden administration and FBI. According to the subcommittee, the FTC uses consent decrees to “settle claims of wrongdoing and impose specific requirements on a company.” During the process, the FTC can demand information from the platform, The Daily Caller reported. The Weaponization of the Federal Government subcommittee, however, alleges that the FTC “weaponized its regulatory authority” to go after Musk. Jordan told “Morning Wire” that FTC Chair Khan has “been after Musk from the get-go,” adding that he believes it’s “part of this attack on the First Amendment, where it’s big government, big media, big tech, all working together to stifle American speech.” The congressman made a point of praising Musk for spending “all this money to protect the First Amendment.” MATT WALSH’S ‘AM I RACIST?’ NOW STREAMING ON DAILYWIRE+ A year before Musk took over, Twitter and the FTC, under Khan’s new leadership, agreed to a consent decree, but Khan pushed for an “immediate vote to finalize the settlement” after Musk bought the platform. The subcommittee also alleges that Khan moved to vote on the consent decree without giving the FTC commissioners enough time to review the evidence, which is traditionally what takes place. “Prior to going to the FTC and becoming chairman, she worked for Jerry Nadler and the Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee,” Jordan noted. “So yeah, she’s been after Musk from the get-go.” “We continue to get information. We’ve sent subpoenas to get information, and we’ll do everything that we can,” he added. “And I always say, we don’t take anything off the table when it comes to fulfilling our duty under the Constitution in the legislative branch to do oversight of the executive branch. So we’ll continue to do that and try to get all the information we can for the American people.”

Halloween is a season with many traditions that hail back to Celtic origins. One that I am glad is no longer in use is that of the ghost turnip. Much like our modern Jack-O-Lanterns, people would carve out the turnips. They would add a gruesome face and light the creepy disembodied heads from the inside. Image from TikTok. More than 2,000 years ago, on Halloween, Irish people used turnips, a root vegetable, to scare off ghosts. They began by hollowing out turnips and carving frightening faces in them. When the sun set, the turnips had candles inside to light them. The night of Samhain (pronounced Sow-Wen), is when the veil between the worlds of the living and the dead is thinnest. On All Hallow’s Eve, people believe spirits can easily pass between the worlds. Ghost turnips and elaborate, scary costumes were “necessary” to ward off evil spirits. That has transformed into our modern Halloween celebration with Jack-O-Lanterns and costumes. We love a good scary story, and this time of year, the spookier, the better. With Halloween upon us, things seem more haunted than usual. But when the calendar flips to November, life goes back to normal for most of us. It seems that’s not quite the case for the royal family, whose homes are reportedly haunted. One Expert Says The Royal Castles Are Haunted In the documentary The King of UFOs, now streaming on Amazon Prime, paranormal historian Richard Felix claims that Queen Elizabeth, King Charles, and even Prince William experience paranormal activity in their homes. “All of their properties have ghosts in them. And they know it and have witnessed it,” Richard said in the documentary. “The late Queen saw her namesake Queen Elizabeth in the library at Windsor Castle,” he shared. “The King has seen the same ghost, and his grandfather George VI saw Queen Elizabeth eight times in the library before the start of the Second World War.” This isn’t the first time he’s spoken of the haunted royal residences. In an interview with Hello! A Right Royal Podcast in October 2023, Richard said a ghost had visited William and Kate’s country home, Anmer Hall. “When the Prince and Princess of Wales moved into Anmer Hall, it’s more or less on the Sandringham Estate, there was a ghost there of a Catholic priest that lived there and was hanged, drawn and quartered for high treason, and for some reason, has returned to his home,” Felix said on the show. The ghosts live in the haunted residences, but it seems the royal family doesn’t mind. Perhaps it’s been going on so long that the ghosts are just part of the family now. According to Richard, living in a haunted house isn’t that big of a deal, even if you’re a member of the royal family. “They live with their ghosts because people do,” Richard said during The King of UFOs documentary.
