Husband Surprises Wife With Custom Book Nook & Now We Want One!

There are countless little ways to express gratitude for the person you love the most. But every once in a while, it’s also important to find bigger ways to surprise them. Luckily for Sarah Rousell, her husband found the perfect way while she was away on a four-day trip with her friend. Knowing how much his wife adores reading, Michael immediately set out to create the perfect book nook for her to enjoy. The area below their staircase served as the perfect spot. But transforming it into a book nook would be no easy task. There was lots of measuring, choosing fabrics, and buying books. To ensure the space was ready in time, and for optimum quality, Michael also got some help from experts. In the end, four days was exactly what he needed. And that’s not an exaggeration — he finished this grand project with five minutes to spare! See Sarah’s reaction in the video below. @dadandboujiee Part 2: She constantly puts herself last for us, so I just wanted to show her we appreciate her and not all of her dreams have to wait… #Fyp #readersoftiktok #DadLife #Mom #surprise #beautyandthebeast #booktok #part2 ♬ Beauty and the Beast – Instrumental Violín – La Vid Violin You don’t have to be a bookworm to understand how perfect this book nook turned out. While it’s small, it’s just big enough to feel cozy rather than restricting. Speaking of feeling cozy, all of the soft fabric, digital fireplace, and thoughtful decor also add to the overall vibe. It’s no wonder Sarah found herself at a loss for words and in tears! This Wife Can’t Get Over the Coziness of Her New Book Nook… and We Can’t Either! View this post on Instagram A post shared by Sarah Rousell (@thebooknookgrl) To celebrate this new book nook, Sarah started her very own social media page dedicated to her reading journey. How cool is that!? “It’s not just a nook, not even just a book nook,” someone in the comments points out. “The amount of absolute detail and care with the cushion, decorations, light and new books is absolutely an act of love.” You can find the source of this story’s featured image here! The Incredibly Creepy Tradition That Came Before The Jack-O-Lantern

Halloween is a season with many traditions that hail back to Celtic origins. One that I am glad is no longer in use is that of the ghost turnip. Much like our modern Jack-O-Lanterns, people would carve out the turnips. They would add a gruesome face and light the creepy disembodied heads from the inside. Image from TikTok. More than 2,000 years ago, on Halloween, Irish people used turnips, a root vegetable, to scare off ghosts. They began by hollowing out turnips and carving frightening faces in them. When the sun set, the turnips had candles inside to light them. We’re not sure if it scared the ghosts, but it would definitely scare small children! @historyeats Let’s count down to Halloween with a series on its spooooky food history here on Historyeats! First up: did you know before we had Halloween pumpkins we had ghost turnips?! #historyeats #foodhistory #historyoffood #halloweenfood #historyofhalloween #halloweenfoodhistory #pumpkins #ghostturnip #tastinghistory ♬ original sound – Historyeats Did ghost turnips migrate to the Americas with Irish immigrants? They may have, but it wasn’t long before new settlers found pumpkins. The large orange fruits were more readily available and much easier to carve. Halloween celebrations are similar around the world. Many traditions differ from country to country, but most originated in Ireland. The night of Samhain (pronounced Sow-Wen), is when the veil between the worlds of the living and the dead is thinnest. On All Hallow’s Eve, people believe spirits can easily pass between the worlds. Ghost turnips and elaborate, scary costumes were “necessary” to ward off evil spirits. That has transformed into our modern Halloween celebration with Jack-O-Lanterns and costumes. Image from Wikimedia Commons. In the United States, Halloween decorations include witches, gravestones, skeletons, and Jack-O-Lanterns. Children dress in costumes ranging from their favorite superheroes to animals. Most costumes are premade and relatively generic. “Scary” is less important to kids. Grab a bucket and get some candy! Please share this if ghost turnips made you smile (or grimace). You can find the source of this story’s featured image here and here. Are England’s Castles Haunted? The Royal Family Seems To Think So

We love a good scary story, and this time of year, the spookier, the better. With Halloween upon us, things seem more haunted than usual. But when the calendar flips to November, life goes back to normal for most of us. It seems that’s not quite the case for the royal family, whose homes are reportedly haunted. One Expert Says The Royal Castles Are Haunted In the documentary The King of UFOs, now streaming on Amazon Prime, paranormal historian Richard Felix claims that Queen Elizabeth, King Charles, and even Prince William experience paranormal activity in their homes. “All of their properties have ghosts in them. And they know it and have witnessed it,” Richard said in the documentary. “The late Queen saw her namesake Queen Elizabeth in the library at Windsor Castle,” he shared. “The King has seen the same ghost, and his grandfather George VI saw Queen Elizabeth eight times in the library before the start of the Second World War.” This isn’t the first time he’s spoken of the haunted royal residences. In an interview with Hello! A Right Royal Podcast in October 2023, Richard said a ghost had visited William and Kate’s country home, Anmer Hall. “When the Prince and Princess of Wales moved into Anmer Hall, it’s more or less on the Sandringham Estate, there was a ghost there of a Catholic priest that lived there and was hanged, drawn and quartered for high treason, and for some reason, has returned to his home,” Felix said on the show. The ghosts live in the haunted residences, but it seems the royal family doesn’t mind. Perhaps it’s been going on so long that the ghosts are just part of the family now. According to Richard, living in a haunted house isn’t that big of a deal, even if you’re a member of the royal family. “They live with their ghosts because people do,” Richard said during The King of UFOs documentary. Most people aren’t afraid of ghosts when they are in their houses—they just accept them.” This story’s featured image is by Just Jus via Shutterstock. The post Are England’s Castles Haunted?
