OpenAI rolled out Advanced Voice Mode to US and international users several weeks ago, but I was left out of this big ChatGPT (GPT-4o) upgrade because the European Union region wasn't covered. Fast-forward to last week, and OpenAI quietly rolled out Advanced Voice Mode support to ChatGPT Plus users in the EU, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein. I haven't noticed the upgrade in the desktop app, but I saw it late on Friday when I opened ChatGPT on my iPhone 16 Plus to retrieve an older chat about things to do while I was visiting Venice, Italy. Advanced Voice Mode was waiting for me in the ChatGPT app after an app update. I chose a museum to visit on Saturday, thinking I'd test Advanced Voice Mode as a guide that would be there waiting for my questions. It turns out that Advanced Voice Mode can be a great companion when sightseeing. In fact, I won't ever step into a museum again without ChatGPT by my side. Before you get too excited, I also have some bad news. Advanced Voice Mode didn't work perfectly, and there are a bunch of wrinkles to iron out. Archaeologists in the Czech Republic have stumbled upon something quite incredible: remnants of a prehistoric housing estate inhabited by the earliest farmers of the Late Stone Age! Approximately 7,000 years ago, these early settlers established themselves in an area where bountiful and fertile soil provided well for agriculture, and so they built their settlement on a slight ridge above the Oskava River. A Massive Longhouse During a two-week rescue excavation at Nové Dědina near Uničov in the Olomouc region, led by archaeologist Mark Kalábek, from the Olomouc Archaeological Center, the team uncovered columnar pits that served as foundations for an above-ground structure known as a longhouse, which housed these early farmers. The house walls were reinforced with woven twine and coated with clay, reports a press release by the Olomouc Archaeological Center. They used a process that provided effective thermal insulation, creating a shelter for the entire community. “We also found stock pits of cauldron or bag shapes, which were used, for example, to store crops. After the end of their use, the locals used them as waste pits,” stated Kalábek. Thirty years have passed since Gary Sinise played Lieutenant Dan in Forrest Gump. The 69-year-old now wears a different look from back then, as seen during Friday’s episode of The Morning Show. One feature that has not changed much, however, is his signature smile. Gary has long locks that fell to his shoulders in the movie, and now he sports short gray hair and a clean shave. He discussed his post-Forrest Gump endeavors with hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies, who brought him on the show via a live video chat.
