How evolutionary trade-offs shape sperm length in tetrapods

An international research team has developed an innovative method to study the evolution of sperm length in tetrapods. Using the Pareto principle, scientists from Germany and Italy analyzed the complex relationships between sperm length, body mass, sperm competition, and clutch size to capture evolutionary trade-offs among these traits.

Method offers more efficient data retrieval from synthetic polymer data storage

Increasing amounts of data require storage, often for long periods. Synthetic polymers are an alternative to conventional storage media because they maintain stored information while using less space and energy. However, data retrieval by mass spectrometry limits the length and thus the storage capacity of individual polymer chains.

Almost a third of asthma cases are attributable to long-term exposure to fine particular matter, global study suggests

Drawing on evidence involving about 25 million people worldwide, an international research team led by the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry demonstrates that long-term exposure to ambient PM2.5 significantly increases the risk of asthma, affecting both children and adults. The researchers find that approximately 30% of new asthma cases worldwide were linked to fine particulate matter (PM2.5) exposure, highlighting the dramatic threat air pollution poses to public health.

Thin skin significantly blunts injury from puncture, study finds

Thin, stretchy skin—like that of a pig or human—significantly lessens the underlying damage that occurs when it's punctured. Pig skin even outperforms synthetic materials that are designed to mimic skin, a new study finds. Its special qualities, in particular its ability to dissipate the energy of a puncturing object, greatly reduce the damage to deeper tissues, researchers report.

Pierce Brosnan’s Model Son Could Be The Next James Bond In New Photos

Pierce Brosnan’s son Paris is thriving as a model and artist as he recently shared a few test shots on his Instagram page. The 23-year-old posed in different outfits and locations, but one thing was constant— he looked a lot like his dad’s famous character, James Bond. Paris’ girlfriend, Alex Lee-Aillón, was in the comments to show her support, while Brosnan simply liked the post. The new post was a fitting addition to Paris’ profile aesthetic, which features vintage cars, artwork, and personal shots. Fans point out the resemblance between Pierce Brosnan and his model son Pierce Brosnan’s model son Paris / Instagram Fans were quick to note that Paris was channeling his dad from his outfit to the poses and eyewear. “Replicating Dad?” someone asked. “These are next level!!! Super creative from start to finish,” another gushed. This is no surprise, as Paris has been vocal about how much Brosnan inspires him as a father, painter, and entertainer. The father and son duo bonded over art while growing up in Kauai, Hawaii, where Paris and his brothers also learned to play the ukulele and guitar from Brosnan. Although his older half-sister Charlotte is late, Paris and his brothers Christopher, Sean, and Dylan are towing in their father’s trail as filmmakers. He has proven to be a multi-talented youngster, exploring filmmaking, painting, environmental advocacy and modeling, having walked for the likes of GQ, Dolce and Gabbana, and Balmain. He has worked with his dad on a few projects including 2022’s Black Adam, and campaign against plastic waste. Pierce Brosnan/Everett The Loyola Marymount University graduate started his film career while in grade school and made his Sri Lanka trip at 18 into a short documentary. The production helped underprivileged children in the war-torn country access food via Clarins and FEED, and Brosnan was very proud. The ‘Bewitched’ Reboot Is Getting One Huge Change From The Original

More than five decades after, Bewitched ended, the magical series is making a comeback in 2025 as Sony Pictures strikes a deal with writer-producer Judalina Neira, who is behind hit projects like The Boys and Daisy Jones and the Six. This revival comes after many failed reboots and reference movies, including one featuring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell in 2005, where they are cast in the reboot within the film itself, and Ferrell’s character discovers his co-star played by Nicole is a witch. Who will star in the ‘Bewitched’ reboot? BEWITCHED, from left: Elizabeth Montgomery, Erin Murphy, 1964-1972 Although not much preparation has begun for the proposed Bewitched comeback, it will come with a huge change in the humor and cast. No casting announcements have been made so far, but the lead character, Samantha, will be the priority once the script is ready. For now, it is not certain where fans can stream or watch the reboot; however, the deal with Neira’s production company, Famous Last Words Productions, reportedly aims to make the drama series for both cable and streaming. It would be Neira’s first collaboration with Sony, which does not have its viewing platform either. BEWITCHED, from left: Dick York, Agnes Moorehead, Elizabeth Montgomery / Everett What changes will the ‘Bewitched’ reboot feature? While the original Bewitched, which aired for eight seasons from 1964 to 1972, was a half-hour comedy show, the upcoming reboot will likely be an hour-long for each episode, featuring less humor reminiscent of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air’s revival on Peacock. BEWITCHED, from left: Elizabeth Montgomery, Dick York / Everett Fans can expect more drama, but with comedic elements like Neira’s popular productions are known for. Meanwhile, child star Erin Murphy, who played Tabitha in the ‘60s classic, recently revealed who her favorite TV dad was between Dick York and Dick Sargent, ultimately going with the former. She now lives a more private life as a lifestyle writer, autism advocate, and eco-friendly entrepreneur. She has yet to comment on the reboot but recently reminisced about her time filming during the premiere’s 60th anniversary in September.
