Happy Friday everyone! Wow, another week absolutely flew by…and that means it’s time again for our weekly PRECIOUS METALS REPORT courtesy of my friend Ira Bershatsky. Is “stagflation” back? It’s the worst of the worst… There are strategies you can employ for inflation and strategies you can deploy for deflation, but stagflation?  It’s nasty. And the markets are sending up massive warning signs! My friend Ira Bershatsky explains more in this week’s Precious Metals Update: On Wednesday, the Fed’s Beige Book report was released. What is the Beige Book? It is a report that the FED publishes eight times per year and is an anecdotal report of economic conditions in the Federal Reserve 12 districts. It is compiled from Bank and Branch directors and interviews with key business contacts, economists, market experts, and other sources. This most recent report indicated a slowing economy with small price increases. Slowing economy? Price increases? Jimmy Carter stagflation is back! This could be why the FED lowered interest rates by one half a percentage point at their last Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting. The equity indices, gold, and silver were all on their lows of the day when the report was released and within a few minutes each of them rallied off of their lows indicating that the FED could possibly cut interest rates again at their November meeting. The markets like lower interest rates. On Thursday, the S+P Flash Purchasing Manager’s Index (PMI) for October was released showing a slowing economy and moderating prices. Stocks were mixed on the news and gold and silver rallied and the price rally has continued into this morning. Buy metals on the dip or on the momentum. I used to have two favorite Sharks on Shark Tank….Kevin O’Leary and Mark Cuban. Unfortunately, now I’m down to only one and I bet you can guess which one.  (Hint: he loves royalty deals and does not look like Rachel Maddow and Rosie O’Donnell had a child together) So I loved it when Kevin O’Leary was on CNN today single-handedly sparring with the entire panel on CNN…and winning! They melted down almost immediately as he simply started listing basic facts. Just look at the picture above…look at the disdain just dripping from the face of this woman on the panel.  I don’t even know who she is, nor do I care, but just look at the disgust on her face! And for what? Because Kevin rightfully pointed out that Kamala Harris was NOT democratically elected to anything? Oh the irony of the “Democrat” party (it’s literally in their name) appointing candidates via shady backroom deals with NO voting and NO democratic process of any kind! The “pro-democracy” party really hates it when you point out that they don’t actually support democracy. O’Leary: “Listen to this analogy, and you may agree, you may not. 88% of managers cannot beat the S&P 500 year in year out.” “They can’t pick stocks. Imagine this….imagine in America, a Governor takes action to remove non-citizens (who by definition cannot vote!) from the voter roles. Seems very basic and by the book, right? Now imagine a Federal Court stepping in ELEVEN DAYS before the Presidential Election and ordering the State to put those non-citizens back on the voter roles! That’s exactly what’s happening right now and it’s why Gov. Youngkin just filed for an Emergency Stay. What kind of bizarro world do we live in where a Governor has to fight the Courts to simply keep clean (and legal!) voter rolls? Almost all these individuals had previously presented immigration documents confirming their noncitizen status, a fact recently verified by federal authorities. “This is a Virginia law passed in 2006, signed by then-Governor Tim Kaine, that mandates certain procedures to remove noncitizens from the voter rolls, with safeguards in place to affirm citizenship before removal–and the ultimate failsafe of same-day registration for U.S. citizens to cast a provisional ballot. This law has been applied in every Presidential election by Republicans and Democrats since enacted 18 years ago. “Virginia will immediately petition the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and, if necessary, the U.S. Supreme Court, for an emergency stay of the injunction.” More here from local Fox42: In a memo obtained by 7News, George W. Bush’s U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) wrote to the Virginia Attorney General’s Office in 2006 that it did not object to a law signed by then-Democratic Governor Tim Kaine that requires non-citizens to be taken off of Virginia’s voter rolls if they self-identify as a non-U.S. citizen. But on Oct. 11, 2024, the Biden-Harris DOJ announced that it was suing Virginia for “violating Federal Law’s prohibition on systemic efforts to remove voters within 90 days of an election.” Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin is defending his administration’s efforts to remove non-U.S. citizens from the voter rolls. Youngkin said his administration is enforcing the law that Gov. Kaine enacted in 2006. “What’s your reaction to that new development that the DOJ, as we’re learning, approved this law?” 7News Reporter Nick Minock asked Gov. Youngkin on Wednesday. “It furthers my frustration with the fact that the Department of Justice decided to bring this case 25 days before [a] presidential election,” Youngkin told 7News. “I mean, let’s be clear, this law that we’re operating under was passed in 2006 by then-Democrat Governor Tim Kaine. It’s been in effect for 18 years. Republican and Democrat governors have applied it. The last two Democrat governors did in Terry McAuliffe and Ralph Northam during October within this so-called 90-day window. It is not a systematic or purging. It is an individualized program where someone walks into a DMV [Department of Motor Vehicles], self-identifies as a non-citizen, and then ends up on the voter rolls, whether by purpose or by accident, and then we go through a process of notifying them, giving them 14 days, and if they can’t affirm they’re citizen, they come off the voter rolls. And the fact that the Department of Justice, back in 2006 reviewed this entire process and basically said it was OK only exacerbates my frustration with the fact that here comes this Department of Justice from the Biden-Harris administration filing a suit against us when we’re just trying to make sure non-citizens aren’t on the voter rolls. And you know the reality here, of course, is that if there is a mistake along the way, there is the ultimate safeguard in Virginia, which is you can walk up to a registrar, register [the] same day, and cast a provisional ballot. Lawsuits from the Justice Department and advocacy groups allege that part of an executive order from Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin systematically removes alleged noncitizens from the rolls too soon to the Nov. 5 presidential election in violation of federal law. The law — the National Voter Registration Act — requires Virginia and other states to stop systematically removing the names of ineligible voters from the rolls within 90 days of the election, known as a “quiet period,” to avoid errors that could take eligible voters off the rolls. Advocacy groups that sued — the Virginia Coalition for Immigrant Rights, the League of Women Voters of Virginia and others – said that data shared by the state for the case shows more than 1,600 people had their voter registrations canceled under the program during the quiet period. U.S. District Judge Patricia Tolliver Giles, who was nominated to the court by President Joe Biden (D), found Virginia’s system was systematic, not on an individual basis as Youngkin’s administration has contended, and ordered Virginia to reinstate those removed during the 90-day quiet period to the voter rolls. Aaron Baird, a spokesperson for Protect Democracy, a legal group representing the groups, wrote in an email that Giles “ordered that purged voters be added back to the rolls and that the state must send corrective mailings to those voters.” We will continue to monitor this story and bring you updates.

The Washington Post has decided not to make a presidential endorsement in the 2024 election. According to NPR, it’s the first time in 36 years the newspaper publication will not make a presidential endorsement. WOW *WASHINGTON POST SAYS WON'T MAKE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ENDORSEMENT — zerohedge (@zerohedge) October 25, 2024 Per NPR: The editorial page editor, David Shipley, told colleagues that the Post’s publisher, Will Lewis, would publish a note to readers online early Friday afternoon. Shipley told colleagues the editorial board was told yesterday by management that there would not be an endorsement. He added that he “owns” this decision. The reason he cited was to create “independent space” where the newspaper does not tell people for whom to vote. Colleagues were said to be “shocked” and uniformly negative. Post corporate spokespeople have not responded to multiple messages left by NPR on the subject.
