GTA 6 is on the way and naturally I’m enthusiastic about the return of both Vice City and Rockstar’s open-world crime saga, but one of the best Grand Theft Auto games - arguably the best - is, and always will be, GTA 4. Compared to San Andreas (and GTA 5), Grand Theft Auto 4 is somber, moody, mature, and atmospheric. Niko Bellic’s bleak revenge tragedy combined with the reimagined Liberty City, still one of the best settings in videogame history, make GTA 4 better than almost all of its genre contemporaries. Released 16 years ago, it appears now that the spirit of Grand Theft Auto 4 lives on. Liquid Swords, the studio founded by Just Cause creator and former Avalanche developer Christofer Sundberg, just teased its first project, an open-world game with a recognizable aesthetic. Former Intel CEO Paul Otellini presented the idea of Intel buying Nvidia, but the board resisted it, according to a new report. Back then, in 2005, AMD and ATi were two separate companies, and Nvidia was primarily a gaming GPU maker, rather than the AI data center behemoth of today. Having one of the top GPU makers in Intel’s stable could have changed the PC landscape as we know it, perhaps with Intel CPU designs containing integrated Nvidia GeForce GPUs. If this had happened, we wouldn’t just be looking at a very different landscape when it comes to the best gaming CPU battle, but also the best graphics card war. At this time, the mooted price for Nvidia was reportedly $20 billion, almost four times the $5.4 billion total AMD paid for ATi with a mix of cash and stock, while Intel itself was worth around $150 billion. The company said it will use the funds to support its robotaxi business in its current markets of San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix, as well as bring it to new cities, like Austin and Atlanta, where its vehicles will be available exclusively on the Uber app. Waymo also hinted at future “business applications” for its “Waymo Driver,” which is the company’s branding for the hardware and software used to enable its vehicles to drive autonomously.
