Hollywood star Liam Neeson said he knows he can’t “fool the audience” and that’s why he’s done with going out for action movie roles after years in the genre. DAILY CALLER NEWS FOUNDATION—Tennessee’s top prosecutor said Wednesday that his office uncovered a scheme by the Biden-Harris administration to release a massive number of illegal aliens into the state, but the plan ultimately was derailed. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, known as ICE, attempted to release illegal aliens into Tennessee, but those plans were scrapped following pushback from the governor and other lawmakers, according to documents obtained by Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti via a Freedom of Information Act request. Federal immigration authorities had attempted to transport potentially thousands of single adult migrants from out-of-state detention facilities and release them into Tennessee in coordination with nonprofit groups, alleged Skrmetti, a Republican. “The federal government’s single most important job is to keep dangerous people out of our country and instead it has let killers and rapists illegally cross our border and walk free on our streets,” Skrmetti said in a press release. “While the urgent work to fix our broken immigration system continues in Washington, my office will keep fighting for transparency and accountability,” he said. Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, a Republican, learned in December 2022 that federal immigration authorities were coordinating with immigrant rights organizations and local officials in Nashville to release a massive number of ICE detainees into the state before the end of the Title 42 health order that helped keep border crossings down, according to the state attorney general’s press release. When the federal government didn’t respond to a FOIA request, the attorney general’s office filed suit. The email correspondence obtained by Skrmetti’s office seemingly reveals a plan to release thousands of single, adult detainees from ICE detention facilities into Tennessee, coordination between local nonprofit groups to carry out the plan, and ICE data showing the release of detainees from its Louisiana detention centers with violent criminal backgrounds such as murder, kidnapping. and rape. ICE officials and the Nashville mayor’s office discussed logistics on the plan, such as how many asylum-seekers would be brought into the city, how many of them would want the city to be their final destination, and what level of support the federal government would be providing, email messages show. Organizations such as the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition and Home Is Here NOLA were mentioned in the email correspondence. DAILY CALLER NEWS FOUNDATION—Nearly 1 million illegal aliens in the United States have benefited from “quiet amnesty” by the Biden-Harris administration’s immigration court system, according to a report released Thursday. Over 700,000 illegal migrants have had their cases administratively closed, terminated, or dismissed, allowing them to remain in the country “indefinitely” without being subject to immigration consequences, according to a report released by the House Judiciary Committee, led by Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio. The findings, which the committee dubbed as “quiet amnesty,” come amid record levels of illegal immigration into the country under the Biden-Harris administration. “For almost four years, Americans have watched as President Joe Biden and border czar Vice President Kamala Harris have abandoned the southwest border and welcomed nearly 8 million illegal aliens into the United States,” the report says. “Through administrative maneuvering at both the Justice Department and [the Department of Homeland Security], the Biden-Harris administration has already ensured that nearly 1 million illegal aliens can remain in the United States without the possibility of deportation—and that trend shows no sign of stopping,” the report continues. When a noncitizen enters the U.S. unlawfully, he or she may be placed into “removal proceedings” and eventually go before one of roughly 700 immigration judges across the country. Due to the unprecedented border crisis and wave of foreign nationals applying for asylum, the immigration court system has faced a massive backlog, the report details. The backlog grew from 1.2 million cases at the end of the Trump-Pence administration to nearly 3.5 million cases by the end of the third quarter of fiscal year 2024—marking a 175% increase. The Executive Office for Immigration Review additionally reported nearly 109,100 cases as “not adjudicated” in fiscal year 2023, meaning the cases were completed but not adjudicated on the merits of the claims, the House report says. There were 109,568 asylum cases not adjudicated in just the first nine months of fiscal year 2024, already surpassing the total previous fiscal year. For comparison, a total of 12,960 asylum cases were reported as “not adjudicated” in all of fiscal years 2017 to 2020, the House report says. [The federal government’s fiscal year runs from October through September.] The Justice Department, which oversees the Executive Office for Immigration Review, declined to comment for this story. Polling expert and political strategist Frank Luntz said that Vice President Kamala Harris is in big trouble, and her performance during a CNN town hall exemplified why she was losing. She goes and shifts it right to Donald Trump, immediately, mentions him twice within the first five seconds," he added. "She still hasn't closed the deal!" Luntz continued. "She still hasn't said to people exactly what she would do." Harris' performance at the CNN town hall was widely mocked as a failure over her inability to simply answer questions in a clear and concise manner. "In fact, what she should have done in the opening of that town hall is said, 'I'm gonna tell ya what I'm going to do in the first hour, in the first day, and in the first week. And it's gonna take me five minutes,'" Luntz added. "She didn't do any of that! She hasn't told the public step-by-step what she's about." Luntz went on to say that he was wrong about Trump's debate performance and concluded that what the former president says isn't as "relevant to people's decision-making as what Harris is saying." He also said that the American public should expect that there may not be a definitive answer on who won the election that night but that it could drag on for days and lead to unrest. Gen X members approved by 30% and disapproved by 18%, a margin of 12 points. Only 23% of Baby Boomers liked him more, while 25% said it made them like him less, a margin of -2 points. And finally, the Silent Generation reported a margin of -14%. Previous polling showed that Gen Z and Millennials strongly favored Vice President Kamala Harris over Trump. The Trump campaign orchestrated the event in order to troll Harris for claiming that she worked at a McDonald's when she was younger. She has been unable to show any proof of that claim. While many outlets tried to undermine the success of the photo op by bizarrely accusing the campaign of "staging" the incident, those efforts were nuked online with mockery and ridicule.
