Team Huddles
Don’t knock it until you try it- Team huddles before any day out together Will change your family’s culture of safety. Even if you’re a grandparent, a babysitter, or the fun uncle, this is a must before any adventures. The team huddle could take a total of 20 seconds, or it could include more details, depending on the ages of your kids and what information you need to share. It should always include some variation of: -a reminder about what to do if something unexpected happens (remind them of code word/safe word) -a safe meeting place in case you get separated You could always use that time to also -double check communication methods are in place (ID cards, watches, etc.) -remind about anything pertinent (drink water, it may rain in an hour, we have to leave by noon, etc.) This allows everyone to get on the same page, remember the role they play in their own safety, and gives everyone a solid hoorah moment to get the adventure off to a great start! We love to end with an “Eyes up on 3!” break, and I hope my kiddos never get too big to keep this fun tradition going! What’s your family’s ritual in your team huddle and do you implement them yet? Let’s hear it in the comments!
