The Old Yellow Top photograph isn't impressive, but the reason why it's important is due to it is the oldest known photograph of a living Bigfoot. It was taken on July 18, 1923, near Cobalt, Ontario.Alleged sightings have taken place over a 64-year period, with the first reported sighting in September 1906, the same year in which the silver boom-town of Cobalt was founded.Another sighting occurred again in July 1923 when two prospectors, experienced woodsmen named J. A. MacAuley and Lorne Wilson, were taking test samples of their mining claims northeast of Wettlaufer Mine near Cobalt. They saw what initially looked to be a bear feasting in a blueberry patch. With courage that bordered on recklessness, Mr. Wilson threw a stone at the animal. The creature stood up, growled, and ran into the night. Wilson said that the head was kind of yellow and the rest of it was black like a bear, but he had never seen such a bear.ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHARTIST RENDITIONAnd once more in April 1947 a woman and her young son began the long walk along the railway tracks into Cobalt to do the family’s weekly shopping. As it was early spring, the woman was wary of stumbling into young bear cubs and their protective mothers, and so she jumped when a large shadow in the periphery of her vision moved toward the tracks. What she saw shocked her nearly beyond belief. This was no bear, nor a wolf or any other creature she was familiar with. It walked effortlessly on two legs “almost like a man,” but was entirely covered in brown hair. The woman held her son close, but they held no interest in the beast. It ambled across the tracks and disappeared into the woods, leaving the shaken onlookers to continue on their journey.The last time it was reported to have been seen was on August 4, 1970, by Amos Latrielle, Larry Cormack, and others. They claimed that their group of 27 miners from Cobalt Lode Mine working graveyard was driving down a road when the creature walked across the road in front of them, causing the driver (Latrielle) to lose control and nearly plunge down a rock cut. Latrielle stated that the creature, at first thought to be a bear, had lightish hair reaching down to its shoulders, contrasting with its otherwise dark fur."I have heard of this thing before, but never believed it," Latrielle said. Teen friends were searching for a friend when they encountered a shadowy figure of a man carrying a briefcase down the street on the sidewalk. What was it that they saw?I received the following account:"Hello. When I was a teen, we called the being we encountered 'Slenderman' when the creepypasta meme legend got popular sometime later, but our experience didn’t fully fit the story. I'm not sure what it was. When I was 16, I was at a friend’s house overnight in Davenport, Iowa near the river. One of our friends had sort of disappeared and it was 11 pm so we figured I and another girl would run across the street to the high school and see if she’d gone back there (we had eaten together on school grounds earlier, so that was our best guess).As my fellow searcher and I stepped out of the house, we saw the tall shadowy figure of a man with a briefcase standing completely still about 200 feet down the sidewalk. The streetlights were bright but not bright enough to make out any further details. She and I looked at each other and went “You see him too right?” We agreed to try finding our friend anyway. We started crossing the street, looked back, and he was suddenly a couple houses closer to us yet still standing motionless. We freaked out and ran back into the house screaming.The girl we went to look for came upstairs from the basement from the commotion, and we were very glad to see her but also rather upset. I have never again jumped headfirst into a couch hard enough to smash my head nor have I run that fast again. Some of the other girls went outside to see if they saw him and came back in instantly freaking out about a shadow figure next to the house.The whole legend of Slenderman got popular a few months later, so we decided that was him and laughed about it. A group of friends is driving to Minnesota to spend a week at a cabin that they frequent annually. On the way, near the cabin, the driver observes an antlered being in the window of a church!I received the following account:"Hi, Lon. Thanks for allowing me to send you my story. Every year my 5 friends and I from high school make a trip up to my family’s cabin in Itasca County, Minnesota to spend the week drinking, fishing, playing cards, and getting into some shenanigans. We started this tradition after our senior year of high school and have kept it up ever since.The very first year we went we all took a minivan from Arizona up to the lake. We usually stop in Denver, Colorado for the first night and make the 17-hour drive up to the lake the next day. On the second day of the drive, it was 1 am in the morning and we were about an hour away from the cabin. It had just rained and the road was extremely foggy, we could hardly see 10 yards in front of the van. On the final stretch, we come around a corner and we see a giant cross glowing in the distance. In that foggy lighting with little to no sleep and after 16 hours in the car the sight of a cross in the distance was ominous, to say the least.As we drive past the cross we see a run-down decrepit church lit up by the light of the cross. My friends will deny it to this day but I can swear that I saw a light turn on in the church as I drove past it and in the window I saw a human-like figure with antlers on its head! I wasn't tired and the long drive hadn't affected me. I was freaked out and wanted to get as far away from that church as possible but couldn’t drive away quickly because of the fog and the fact that deer were jumping onto the road every few minutes. We ended up making it to the cabin safely, but every time I think back to that drive I get chills.What do you believe I saw?" WNOTE: Some people would immediately say that the witness observed a Wendigo. I'm not sure if that is what this was. The Ojibwe people, who are native to the area, have traditional lore about deer women who are harbingers of vengeance. The fact that this entity was seen in the window of a church is interesting.
