The Georgetown women’s basketball team has received criticism after they posted on X mourning former player Sydney Wilson’s death just days after a video emerged showing her stabbing a police officer. 

The FBI has quietly edited the crime statistics for 2022 after initially stating in September of 2023 that crime — particularly violent crime — was down 2.1% overall. In the months since that number was first released, Democrats and media talking heads have wielded it like a sledgehammer to crush Republican claims that crime is on the rise — but the “stealth edit,” which was somehow not mentioned in a September 2024 press release from the Bureau, undercuts their argument. Real Clear Politics co-founder and President Tom Bevan shared an analysis of the revision, saying in an X post, “Guess what? Crime isn’t down 2.1%, according to the FBI. They just released a "stealth-edit" update: violent crime is actually up 4.5%.https://t.co/hLRWthHKC0 — Tom Bevan (@TomBevanRCP) October 16, 2024 Real Clear Investigations (RCI) dug into the issue after seeing a seemingly innocuous statement on the FBI’s website, which read, “The 2022 violent crime rate has been updated for inclusion in CIUS, 2023.” As RCI noted, there was no indication that the updates included an upward revision of the violent crime data — and the only way that anyone would ever see the change would be to download the current numbers and compare them side by side with the report released in 2023. That increase translated to 80,029 more violent crimes — 1,699 murders, 7,780 rapes, 33,459 robberies, and 37,091 aggravated assaults — than were reported in 2021. To complicate matters even further, it appears that similar revisions did not occur in previous years. Carl Moody, a professor at the College of William & Mary, told RCI, “I have checked the data on total violent crime from 2004 to 2022. There were no revisions from 2004 to 2015, and from 2016 to 2020, there were small changes of less than one percentage point. The huge changes in 2021 and 2022, especially without an explanation, make it difficult to trust the FBI data.” The revision vindicates Republicans, who have long been claiming that the data was incorrect and that crime was rising — and backs up former President Donald Trump, who was erroneously “fact-checked” on the issue by ABC News debate moderator David Muir. Iran’s illegal oil sales have exploded under the Biden-Harris administration, providing a much larger sum of cash than was previously known to the Islamic regime that it has used to fund terrorism throughout the Middle East. The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in a newly released report that Iran has made $144 billion in oil sales under the administration. The report showed that Iranian oil revenues more than doubled during the administration’s first year in office, from $16 billion during former President Donald Trump’s last year in office to $37 billion in 2021. Iran earned more than $53 billion during both 2022 and 2023. The EIA warned that the real numbers could be even higher because Iran will use smaller vessels to transport the oil, which can avoid detection. “Iran uses several obfuscation techniques such as turning off its ship identification signals, applying ship-to-ship transfers, or relabeling cargoes as originating from other countries for both crude oil and oil products, which increases the challenge of providing precise export data,” the report said. Claire Jungman, director of United Against a Nuclear Iran’s (UANI) Tanker Tracking Program, told the publication that the numbers should serve as a “catalyst for the administration to enforce sanctions more aggressively on vessels transporting Iranian oil.” “The illicit activity detailed in the report underscores the need for firm action to hold these vessels accountable and ensure that sanctions are effectively implemented to curtail Iran’s ability to export oil in violation of U.S. sanctions,” she added. The $178+ billion Iran has earned under the administration does not include $16 billion in funds that the administration unfroze for Iran to access, including $10 billion in electricity revenues and $6 billion in frozen oil revenues.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) remarked on Tuesday that saying former President Donald Trump’s name is “like swearing,” referring to the Republican presidential nominee as “what’s his name.” Pelosi, 84, sat down for an interview with The Guardian’s Jonathan Freedland where she slammed Trump while trying to avoid using his name. “I hardly ever say his name,” she said, adding, “I think [Trump is] a grotesque word. … You just don’t like the word passing your lips. I just don’t. I’m afraid, you know, when I grew up Catholic, as I am now, if you said a bad word, you could burn in hell if you didn’t have a chance to confess. So I don’t want to take any chances.” “It’s up there with, like, swearing,” Pelosi added. Pelosi broke her own rule and uttered Trump’s name later in the interview, The Hill reported. “When we talk about democracy being on the ballot, it’s a woman’s issue, but it’s an everybody issue. When we talk about freedom of speech, do you see now that Trump is talking. … I said his name, oh my gosh. I hope I don’t burn in hell,” she said. Pelosi was reportedly a leading voice in pushing for Biden to end his 2024 campaign following his disastrous debate performance against Trump. “I think his legacy had to be protected. I didn’t see that happening in the course that it was on — the election was on,” she said. “My call was just to — ‘Let’s get on a better course. He will make the decision as to what that is.’ And he made that decision.”

Jerry Seinfeld took back statements he previously made, attributing leftist-driven political correctness as being a death knell for comedy. The 70-year-old comedian made the initial comments during an interview with The New Yorker in April. At the time, he said, “People [are] worrying so much about offending other people” that the art of comedy has been going downhill.  “When you write a script and it goes into four or five different hands, committees, groups—’Here’s our thought about this joke.’ Well, that’s the end of your comedy,” Seinfeld declared at the time. Now, the sitcom creator is changing his story. On an episode of his “Breaking Bread” podcast released on Tuesday, Seinfeld told fellow comedian Tom Papa that he “regrets” making those statements, which went viral at the time. You don’t make the gate, you’re out of the game. Fox Business host Charles Payne called out Vice President Kamala Harris over her recent attempts to reach out to black men and save her flagging poll numbers ahead of the November 5th presidential election. Payne argued that Harris — and other prominent Democrats like former President Barack Obama — were insulting black men when they argued that sexism was the only possible reason that they could have for not supporting Harris in her bid for the presidency. They’re saying, ‘We’re not going to take it anymore.'” Payne went on to say that black men were tired of being “pimped,” using an example in which black people were used in a state’s campaign to legalize marijuana — and then all of the black applicants were denied licenses to sell it in that state. “They’re not wanted in the white, progressive world,” he said “They’re not wanted, and they’re waking up and pushing back.” He concluded by ripping into Harris’ proposed plan to bring more “opportunities” to black men, arguing that it was all from the same “bag of tricks” that Democrats had been drawing from for years and saying that none of it would actually help.
