With Kansas bringing Joe Deninzon into the band in May 2023, plus all the other gigs the man manages, it did take the violinist, vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter a few years to get his Stratospheerius bandmates together for their 2024 Impostor! record. It has been well worth the wait. With Deninzon manning the electric seven-string as well as acoustic violin, viola, chin cello, lead and backing vocals, writing and producing, Michelangelo Quirinale playing guitars, Paul Ranieri bass, Jason Gianni drums, and Bill Hubauer keyboards, here we get a backer’s dozen of bristling layered playing across tunes that quite often have lots to say lyrically. Trilling keys into big explosive hits and Deninzon’s violin runs bring “Voodoo Vortex (Part II)” to life getting us into this baker’s dozen, leaning on Jean Luc Ponty/Jerry Goodman-inspiration as the tune does. Hubauer’s pretty piano leads us into “Outrage Olympics.” This first song with a lyric, won’t be the first time Deninzon gets into some straight head meaningful gutsy broadsides.  I love the clicky weird beat of this one especially. Opening with some layered whispering of the title and Deninzon’s violin, we get into the heady quick single of the title track. Meanwhile, “Storm Surge,” a wonderfully layered mini epic, gives us some rich acoustic guitar and violin, featuring the legendary pianist, flautist Rachel Flowers, guitarist Fernando Perdomo, and Saga vocalist Michael Sadler, who co-wrote this song with Deninzon and Gianni. We get the slower “Voodoo Vortex (Part I)” with Deninzon mining Jean Luc Ponty heavily on this one, as well as hitting for a stratosphere (forgive me) all his own on this beautiful instrumental. There is a seriously studied opening piano to the last and longest tune, “Chasing the Dragon.” This meditation on midlife crises, unrealized dreams, and unfulfilled expectations rocks light and shade, heavy riffing, and longer florid passages. Stratospheerius surely shows their chops in all the colors here, with guest vocalist Chloe Lowery of Trans-Siberian Orchestra lending her impressive pipes midway. Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin defended his decision to remove non-citizens from the state’s voter rolls in accordance with state law that was passed by Democrats, saying that doing so was “common sense.” Youngkin made the remarks during an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper this week in response to the Biden-Harris administration filing a lawsuit to stop Youngkin from removing non-citizens from the rolls within 90 days of an election. “First and foremost, this is a law that’s been on our books since 2006,” Youngkin said. “It was a law that was signed by then Democrat Governor Tim Kaine, and it requires our election process and governors to use DMV data when an individual self-identifies as a non-citizen and there is a match with that person on the voter rolls to then notify that person that they have 14 days to affirm that they’re a citizen or not, and if they’re not, then they are removed.” “This process has been in place since 2006. We just had recent Democrat governors like Terry McAuliffe and Ralph Northam use this exact same process within the 90-day period because it is individualized,” he continued. “An individual starts the process by self-identifying as a non-citizen. And therefore, as governor, I have an obligation, no discretion, to then run the process to notify that person through our registrar that they have 14 days to clear it up. And if they don’t clear it up, they’re gonna be removed from the voter rolls.” MATT WALSH’S ‘AM I RACIST?’ COMING TO DAILYWIRE+ OCT. 28 Youngkin noted that the Biden-Harris administration could have filed their lawsuit against the state months ago so that it could be brought to a resolution before Election Day, but instead waited more than two months to file it. “This seems far more political than otherwise simply because of the fact this has been going on since 2006 according to law and they chose 25 days before an election in Virginia in order to assert something which really is inconsistent with the process that we’re doing,” he said. Youngkin said that the state has removed more than 6,300 non-citizens from the voter rolls, people who self-identified as non-citizens and were given weeks to affirm if they were citizens so they could be added back to the voter rolls. Elon Musk is threatening legal action after California officials cited his politics in their decision to reject more SpaceX rocket launches. On Thursday, the California Coastal Commission rejected the U.S. Space Force’s request for more frequent SpaceX rocket launches. The Space Force had asked that SpaceX be allowed to do 50 launches a year of its Falcon 9 rocket at Vandenberg Space Force Base, up from 36 launches. The commission denied the request in a six-to-four vote. During a hearing on the issue, commissioners griped about Musk’s political views, as well as his campaign stop with former President Donald Trump earlier this month. Caryl Hart, the commission chair, sparked accusations of illegal regulatory lawfare when she distinguished between SpaceX and other companies. “It’s not the other companies. This is about SpaceX increasing their launches, not the other companies increasing their launches,” Hart said. The Coastal Commission has one job – take care of the California coast. During his October 5 campaign stop with Trump in Pennsylvania, the tech mogul urged people to register to vote and cast their ballot for Trump in the crucial swing state.
