Clashes kill 6 Pakistan troops, 22 militants near Afghan border

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan said Saturday that a predawn assault on a security post and intelligence-driven counterinsurgency raids in its northwestern province bordering Afghanistan killed at least six troops and 22 militants. The military’s media wing said that the violence occurred in several districts, including Tank and North Waziristan. The statement identified the slain militants as “khwarij,” a term employed by the government to categorize insurgents affiliated with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, or TTP, a globally recognized terrorist organization. Area security officials said that dozens of heavily armed TTP militants staged a multipronged attack on the security outpost in the town of Thall, resulting in the deaths of six paramilitary troops and injuries to several others in the ensuing gun battles. The TTP reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack but did not comment on its casualties in the reported military raids elsewhere. Intensified TTP-led attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and separatist ethnic Baloch insurgents in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, which borders Afghanistan, have resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives, including many security personnel this year alone, according to official data. Pakistan alleges TTP leaders and fighters orchestrate terrorism from Afghan hideouts with the support of the neighboring country’s Taliban government, which is not recognized by any country. Taliban leaders reject the charges, saying they are not allowing anyone to use Afghanistan to threaten other countries, including Pakistan.

Outgoing DCN Chair: Keep Racist Identity Politics as Party Central

Jaime Harrison, the outgoing chairman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), whose four-year tenure expires at the end of the year, urged Democrats to resist calls to abandon “identity politics.” Identity politics is unfair, racist, and un-American. It’s likely unconstitutional since it’s about a corrupt distortion of the word ‘equity’ and abandons equality. Harrison thinks […] The post Outgoing DCN Chair: Keep Racist Identity Politics as Party Central appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

Syria On Verge Of Collapse As Terrorist Rebels Take Over Vast Swaths Of Country

Syria is on the verge of collapse as rapidly advancing Islamic terrorist rebels from the north have taken over vast swaths of land from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s forces. In just a little over a week, the terrorist rebels have conquered Aleppo in northern Syria and have quickly moved south, capturing Hama and are now moving through Homs as they move toward the country’s capital city of Damascus. The situation is so dire that Assad has evacuated his family to Russia and Iran has started to withdraw its military personnel from the country. “Russia doesn’t have a plan to save Assad and doesn’t see one emerging as long as the Syrian president’s army continues to abandon its positions,” a source told The Telegraph. Experts on the Russian military said that the country would struggle to evacuate its main airbase in Syria before the terrorist rebels capture it. They believe that all the personnel will be evacuated, but much of the hardware, including some of the military planes used to back the Syrian regime, would be left behind. Fighting in the Syrian civil war had remained largely quiet since 2020 when a ceasefire was struck, but recent events cracked the forces that had kept the current lines frozen. The two main events that have changed the situation in the country were Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in early 2022 and Iranian-backed Hamas terrorists launching an unprecedented terrorist attack in Israel on October 7, 2023. CHECK OUT THE DAILY WIRE HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has siphoned away support that it would send to back Assad’s forces in its fight against the rebel terrorists — primarily Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) that evolved out of Al-Qaeda’s former branch in Syria. HTS’s leader, Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, is a terrorist who has a $10 million bounty on his head from the U.S. government. “Amid the excitement surrounding the potential downfall of the brutal dictator Bashar al-Assad, analysts and the media often overlook that it is happening at the hands of jihadist groups,” said Joe Truzman, Senior Research Analyst and Editor at Foundation for Defense of Democracies’ Long War Journal. “The prospect of a Syrian state dominated by Islamist factions, especially if they gain access to advanced weaponry pilfered from regime arsenals, undoubtedly raises significant concerns in Israel and the surrounding region,” Truzman added. Hamas’ massacre of 1,200 people in October 2023 sparked war throughout the Middle East between Israel and Iran and all of Iran’s terrorist proxy groups. Israel has decimated the largest and most powerful of the terrorist groups, Lebanon-based Hezbollah, killing thousands of its fighters, wiping out most of its large arsenal of aerial munitions, and killing off its top leaders and nearly all of its senior commanders. Prior to being severely damaged by Israel’s superior military, Hezbollah was backing Assad in Syria and helped him keep power. Israel was actively monitoring the situation and is believed to have destroyed a Syrian chemical weapons cache to prevent the weapons from falling into the hands of the terrorists. “The IDF monitors developments and is prepared for all scenarios, offensive and defensive alike,” said Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi. “The IDF will not tolerate threats near the Lebanon-Syria border and will thwart any threat against the State of Israel.”

Now That “Blue Bloods” Is Over, Tom Selleck Hopes Taylor Sheridan Calls

Tom Selleck officially said goodbye to his character of Frank Reagan as Blue Bloods ends its 14-season run on CBS. Tom, now 79, may be a bit greyer and a bit wiser since the show began, but he’s certainly not ready to retire. He has worked in show business since 1965, performing roles on both the big and small screens. Tom became a household name in the 1980s, playing Thomas Magnum on the hit show Magnum P.I. In addition to sniffing out bad guys on the beaches of Hawaii, he single-handedly inspired a generation of men to sport a mustache and floral shirt. Now Tom Selleck’s hitting that silver citizen stride and hoping to keep working. He jokes to Parade that he’s “unemployed” but hopefully not for long. View this post on Instagram A post shared by @bluebloods_cbs Tom Selleck Would Like To Change Gears While he isn’t quite sure what the future holds, he’s positive about what he doesn’t want his next career move to be. “I don’t know where my next job will take me,” Tom said.  “People ask, ‘What do you want to do next?’ I’m not sure. I don’t want to do Frank Reagan II.” Tom Selleck admitted that he hasn’t seen a ton of action, but things are percolating.  “I wouldn’t say [offers] are pouring in, but maybe some people are thinking of me.” Tom added that he’d love to learn that Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan is one of the people. He’s loved his time in the police drama world, but he loves a cowboy show. “A good Western’s always on my list,” he told Parade. “I miss that; I want to sit on a horse again.” We’ll certainly miss seeing Tom Selleck and the gang on Blue Bloods, but we can’t wait to see where he lands next. A cowboy hat and boots might be even better than a Hawaiian shirt and aviator sunglasses. This story’s featured image is by Gary Gershoff/Getty Images.
