Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) lied over the weekend about his past remarks where he claimed a couple of years ago that there was “no guarantee to free speech on misinformation or hate speech.” “You’ve said there’s no guarantee of free speech for misinformation or hate speech,” “Fox News Sunday” host Shannon Bream opressed Walz, referring to his remarks in a 2022 MSNBC interview. “But first of all, the Supreme Court was very clear in a unanimous 2017 decision that hate speech is protected, that’s the kind of stuff that needs to be protected, stuff none of us like to hear.” “But more importantly, who gets to decide on the issue of what misinformation is?” she asked. That’s what we’re talking about in this.” “The decision on that, society decides on a lot of this, the idea of someone going on and threatening someone’s life or a child’s life online,” he claimed. “I don’t think any of your viewers think that that is something that should be acceptable.” Bream quickly pushed back: “No. No. No. That’s not misinformation.” “There’s a distinction you would say though, between something like a threat and misinformation?” she pressed. “Certainly and that’s what we’re talking about,” Walz claimed. “And that’s why I’m so opposed to book banning. That’s why in Minnesota we ban the practice of book banning, but you make the decision of what you’re going to read, whether you find it objectionable or not. The difference is, is threats, that type of speech.” But that is not what Walz was talking about in 2022. Walz specifically was talking about the issue of voter intimidation, and making false claims about voting when he said that there was “no guarantee to free speech on misinformation or hate speech.” Nowhere in the interview did he discuss book bans or threatening children online.

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) slammed former President Barack Obama over the weekend for his recent claim that he left former President Donald Trump an amazing economy when he left office. Donalds made the remarks during a Sunday interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Dana Bash when asked to respond to Obama’s remarks. “Yes, it was pretty good, because it was my economy,” Obama claimed. “It wasn’t something he did. I spent eight years cleaning up the mess that the Republicans had left me the last time.” Donalds responded: “I was working in finance during Barack Obama’s administration. Let me tell you, the economy under his last — especially the last five years was growing at about 1 to 1.5 percent per year.” “I think, at the time, President Obama was saying that this era of large economic growth is something of the past. We’re going to have a more consistent economy,” he said. “In his words, a consistent economy meant one that barely grew.” “So, when Donald Trump came in, he brought his tax cut policy in, which cut taxes across the board for everybody in our country. Couple the fact that he did cut massive regulations from the Obama administration, and what did we see?” he continued. “Economic growth in the United States went from 1-1.5 percent under Barack Obama to 3-3.5 percent under Donald Trump. Wages adjusted for inflation, like I said, because it’s the truth, increased for every subgroup of Americans in our country.” “The wealth gap was closing. We were actually booming economically far more than we did under Barack Obama,” he noted. “So that’s a cool statement he made on the stump, but it’s not true.” Bash was unable to argue with any points that Donalds made. NBC News host Kristen Welker berated House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) during an interview over the weekend about former President Donald Trump’s medical records. Welker made the remarks during an interview on the network’s “Meet The Press” program while pushing Johnson about Trump’s health records. “Should Donald Trump release all of his medical records, Mr. Speaker?” Welker pressed. Trump’s campaign already released a summary of his medical records on Saturday. “He issued the records of his physicians,” Johnson said. “Kamala Harris issued her medical records as diversion because she’s desperate, because she’s sinking in the polls. Donald Trump’s health is on display. Everyone in America can see it. The man works nonstop. He never quits. He probably sleeps four hours a night. He doesn’t require as much sleep as the average person. He’s an unusual figure. And this is the strength that we need in a time like this.” Welker demanded to know if Trump should release the results of his cognitive test, even though Harris did not release the results of any cognitive examination. “He didn’t release his medical records,” Welker claimed. “You don’t want to know things like his cholesterol level, whether he’s dealing with any issue that we may not know about, if he’s going to be commander-in-chief?” Johnson fired back: “Kristen, listen to your question. Kristen, the American people don’t care about the cholesterol level of Donald Trump. They care about the cost of living and the fact they cannot pay for groceries because Kamala Harris and Joe Biden’s policies have put them in that situation.” “The medical records are irrelevant,” he continued. “Let’s talk about things that the American people care about. That’s why Donald Trump is surging in the polls, because he’s doing this on stages, in interviews, nonstop, around the clock, and Kamala Harris has done nothing. Every time she talks, her numbers go down, because she is uniquely unqualified to be the commander-in-chief at one of the most dangerous times in the history of the country.
