CBS Hypes Carville Doc, Says He 'Laid Aside Party Loyalty' To Push Biden Out

Last week, CBS Saturday Morning ran a glowing profile of far-left activist and celebrity Jane Fonda. This week, it was former Bill Clinton strategist James Carville’s turn as co-host Michelle Miller claimed he “laid aside party loyalty” to urge President Biden to drop his re-election bid and viewed winning as his "religion."  Miller, whose husband was the former Democratic mayor of New Orleans and is the current president of the National Urban League, began in studio by declaring that, “James Carville is a one-of-a kind personality full of candor and political force for decades. But now, he's bringing viewers behind closed doors in a deeply personal new documentary for CNN just in time for another presidential election.”     In the featured report, she elaborated, “His wicked wit and combative style... have made him one of the most outspoken voices of our time.” Miller further described Carville as “a progressive pit bull, some say helped form the tone of cable news talk.” However, “earlier this year, James Carville laid aside party loyalty and sounded the alarm for President Biden to drop out.” That’s not what “laid aside party loyalty” means. If Carville really laid aside party loyalty, he would’ve endorsed Donald Trump. Instead, he simply wanted another Democrat with a better chance of winning. Still, Miller told him, “You seem to have predicted what we've seen this entire summer,” to which Carville replied, “Well, I guess it's fortunate sometimes to make a big call right in the middle of the film.” In a voiceover, Miller explained, “That film, Carville: Winning is Everything, Stupid also recounts his four decades in politics.” Again substituting statements for questions, Miller declared, “Someone said of you ‘that the path to victory is his religion. That's what he cares about: winning.’” Carville answered, “Right. I was obsessed with winning because you would hear this -- there were a lot of Democrats and kind of progressive people that wanted to feel good about themselves. ‘Oh, we were just way ahead of our times, and no one could appreciate us.’ That doesn't do any good. That's [bleep]. If you don't win, you've nothing.” If a Republican said “winning is everything,” we would be subject to lectures about misinformation or about the decline of morality in politics. When the former Clinton operative says it, it is deemed to be part of his charm, “We first saw that fervor in The War Room, a film chronicling Carville's 1992 presidential campaign to elect a relatively unknown governor from Arkansas, a victory that put Democrats back in the Oval Office for only the second time in 24 years.” It would have been nice if Miller asked Carville if he had any regrets about this “religion,” but this is CBS, and asking left-wing guests those types of questions is frowned upon. Here is a transcript for the October 12 show: CBS Saturday Morning 10/12/2024 9:09 AM ET MICHELLE MILLER: James Carville is a one-of-a kind personality full of candor and political force for decades. But now, he's bringing viewers behind closed doors in a deeply personal new documentary for CNN just in time for another presidential election. JAMES CARVILLE [1992]: And President Bush has been a do-nothing president, and now he's a do-nothing candidate. That's the way a political strategist thinks. MILLER: His wicked wit and combative style. CARVILLE: Go ask them what they think about it. I'm a political strategist. MILLER: Have made him one of the most outspoken voices of our time.  Mr. Carville, how are you? CARVILLE: Mister? I like that.  MILLER: A progressive pit bull, some say helped form the tone of cable news talk. CARVILLE [2004]: Iraq is getting more violent by the day, and we've been there forever and the thing is going to hell in a handbasket. MILLER: But, earlier this year, James Carville laid aside party loyalty and sounded the alarm for President Biden to drop out. CARVILLE: Somebody better wake the [bleep] Up. He's going to come to the conclusion that this is just not a good idea. MILLER: You seem to have predicted what we've seen this entire summer. CARVILLE: Well, I guess it's fortunate sometimes to make a big call right in the middle of the film. MILLER: That film, Carville: Winning is Everything, Stupid-- CARVILLE: Hey, give me a call when you get a chance. MILLER: Also recounts his four decades in politics. Someone said of you “that the path to victory is his religion. That's what he cares about: winning.” CARVILLE: Right. I was obsessed with winning because you would hear this -- there were a lot of Democrats and kind of progressive people that wanted to feel good about themselves. “Oh, we were just way ahead of our times, and no one could appreciate us." That doesn't do any good. That's [bleep]. If you don't win, you've nothing. MILLER: We first saw that fervor in The War Room, a film chronicling Carville's 1992 presidential campaign to elect a relatively unknown governor from Arkansas. CARVILLE [1992]: Let me tell you what's at stake in this election. MILLER: A victory that put Democrats back in the Oval Office for only the second time in 24 years. CARVILLE: Talk about things that matter to people. It's the economy, stupid. MILLER: Carville's simplicity and turning of phrase struck a chord with voters, and today, remains one of the most quoted slogans in politics.

Kamala’s ‘Call Her Daddy’ catastrophe: Lies, propaganda, and toxic empathy

“Call Her Daddy” is a widely successful podcast geared toward young women, which is why it’s so important that Vice President Kamala Harris sat down with the host, Alex Cooper, for an interview full of propaganda and lies. “She doesn’t really know what she’s talking about at all,” Allie Beth Stuckey of “Relatable” says of Cooper. “It’s not just that she has a valley girl voice, but underneath all of that is some scholarly, really deep, and wise person. No. She is very superficial.” But that’s not all. “I mean, who knows how many hearts have been broken, how many bodies have been harmed, how many relationships have been severed, how much mental stability and peace have been robbed from women because of Alex Cooper’s podcast,” Stuckey says. “So, you have the authority to talk about this in the same way that Satan has the authority to talk about righteousness,” she adds, noting that it didn’t take more than 20 minutes for Harris and Cooper to start talking about abortion. The pair, of course, wholeheartedly agreed in a textbook display of “toxic empathy” that “the woman is actually the victim in the abortion scenario” and that “these laws restrict a woman from being able to exercise her bodily autonomy.” Cooper brought up the case of rapes prior to abortions, which make up less than 1% of all abortions in America. “The rapist should get the death penalty,” Stuckey says. “Not the baby who did nothing wrong.” Harris also made the case for abortion in the interview by saying that “the government shouldn’t be telling people what to do.” She of course seems to have forgotten the mandates her administration imposed on Americans for the COVID-19 vaccine, which many got under threat of job loss and ostracization from society. “Kamala Harris understands that. She actually believes that the government should be able to tell you a lot of things that constitutionally they can’t do,” Stuckey says, adding, “She was completely behind requiring nurses, frontline workers, to take an experimental vaccine that led to the laying off of many nurses when there was already a shortage.” Harris also went after late-term abortions, telling Cooper that the idea that women are seeking them out is “a bold-faced lie.” “We remember Governor Northam a few years ago on the radio saying that if a baby survives an abortion, the baby will be put off to the side. And then the parents and doctor can decide what to do with that baby,” Stuckey explains. “And under Governor Walz’s watch, at least eight babies were born alive during botched abortions between 2019 and 2021. All eight of them died. None of them received any care attempting to save their lives,” she adds. Tired of Big Tech spying? A new search engine, Freespoke, offers unbiased search results

It’s no secret that our news and information sources have become overwhelmingly controlled by a handful of powerful corporations. These tech giants make their fortunes by monetizing your data, tracking your every click, and crafting search algorithms that shape how you see the world. In the process, your privacy vanishes, and your choices shrink. But what if it didn’t have to be this way? A new player, Freespoke, is offering an alternative, taking a stand against Big Tech with a bold vision for a fairer, more private internet.Freespoke is one company offering solutions to these problems and pioneering a path away from Big Tech/Google’s monopoly on information. Return sat down with Kristin Jackson of Freespoke to discuss her company’s solutions to these problems in today’s online information environment. 'Every dictator in our history has known that if they can control information, they can control their people.'The people at Freespoke noticed a considerable amount of media bias in mainstream search engines like Google. It is most likely impossible to eradicate this issue, so Freespoke does the next best thing: It labels media bias while also highlighting “multiple viewpoints.” Freespoke labels content “left, right, and middle,” but it also has alternative labels such as a “faith label” and an “independent label.” Freespoke seeks to level the media bias when you search for your news: “We've added an element to make sure you're getting different viewpoints in your search results.”It also makes it easy to find controversial topics on the search engine since the developers know that those topics may be the most skewed to one point of view. For example, they've made it very easy to find stories surrounding elections: “We focus [on election information] because we know election-related information is an area where people aren't sure Google is telling them the full story.”Another hallmark of Freespoke is that it “prioritizes American-made businesses” to give it a chance to fight against its biggest competitors. The developers want to support “that American ideal of a small business owner being the backbone of an economy.” They see this as a key to revitalizing the American economy from the bottom up: “We don't have strong national supply chains because we just haven't been supporting our small business owners and haven't been making sure they can get in front of a population and sell their goods.” This part of the search engine is beneficial for bringing American businesses to more people’s attention. That’s not all Freespoke has to offer. It is also a pornography-free search engine, making it safe for all ages. Jackson said they weren’t initially sure how they would make this a reality, but then they just decided, “Let's just not show pornography.” From “day one,” they did not have porn on their search engine. While these are all great search engine features, Freespoke “built a search engine based on privacy.” Privacy was the defining element of their vision for an alternative search engine. “I will tell you that as a company, we believe protecting your privacy is important to you — it’s important to us and should be important to you. And in Freespoke, you can know from day one, as long as we exist, that we are going to stand by that principle of protecting your privacy.”What sets Freespoke apart from other third-party search engines that offer privacy? Not only is it fully committed to protecting your privacy, but it also offers a bias labeling service that provides a more even playing field (not to mention being porn-free and emphasizing American companies). You get the best of both worlds with its service, as the website says: “Freespoke is here to show you what other search engines won’t and protect your privacy in ways they refuse.”Freespoke is offering an alternative vision for the future of search engines. It must offer bias labeling and data protection since both issues are important to address in today’s media environment. There is also a more pressing issue that the developers are trying to combat. Freespoke understands what happens when one person or group controls the information for a person, and it never ends well: “Every dictator in our history has known that if they can control information, they can control their people. And so we have to make sure one organization does not control our information.”

XCOM is “the one thing that works” in tactical games, Paradox executive says

Turn-based strategy games and tactical RPGs come and go, but XCOM is forever. At least, it can certainly feel that way. It’s been more than eight years since Firaxis unleashed XCOM 2 on the world, and almost six since the arrival of its masterful War of the Chosen expansion. Since then, we’ve seen some excellent contenders in the space - the likes of Gears Tactics, Battletech, and Warhammer 40k Battlesector come to mind - but none have become quite the cultural phenomenon that XCOM is. In the wake of its own attempt, I asked Paradox deputy CEO Mattias Lilja about trying to compete with such established titans.
