“Star Wars” fans blasted a new book, “Star Wars: The Secrets of the Clone Troopers,” which centers on a transgender stormtrooper named Sister, as “disgusting” and more. “THE SECRETS OF THE CLONE TROOPERS includes a first look at Sister, a trans woman clone trooper,” a post on X from the account Star Wars Holocron read. “Rex’s description of Sister in the book reads: ‘When one of our kind expressed her gender identity differently than her fellow troopers, she featured she’d have to hide who she truly was inside. Two months later, Lucasfilm had opted out of making a second season for the female-centric, Sith-focused series, sources told Deadline. When it launched, the eight-part series scored numerous glowing headlines that helped it land a strong opening with 4.8 million views in its first day on the streamer with its first two episodes.  However, it struggled with luke-warm reviews and poor ratings, falling out of the top 10 by the third week, the outlet noted. The series remained there until the finale, when it finally cracked into the 10th spot, with 335 million minutes, something that is believed to be the lowest ever for a “Star Wars” series finale, the outlet noted.

The Biden-Harris administration announced on Friday that it was filing a lawsuit against the state of Virginia for enforcing voter integrity laws in the state that aim to curb illegal voting in elections. Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke, who has a history of espousing racist views, claimed without evidence that Virginia’s move to increase election integrity was an “eleventh hour effort” intended, in part, to “disenfranchise qualified voters.” The DOJ claimed that it was doing so because it was “too close to the Nov. 5 general election” to remove voters: Section 8(c)(2) of the NVRA, also known as the Quiet Period Provision, requires states to complete systematic programs aimed at removing the names of ineligible voters from voter registration lists no later than 90 days before federal elections. However, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin’s executive order requiring that non-citizens be removed from voter rolls was signed on August 7, 2024 — exactly 90 days before Election Day. The problem is the people who are being removed from the voter rolls are not, in fact, voters because they are not citizens, said Youngkin. “With less than 30 days until the election, the Biden-Harris Department of Justice is filing an unprecedented lawsuit against me and the Commonwealth of Virginia, for appropriately enforcing a 2006 law signed by Democrat Tim Kaine that requires Virginia to remove noncitizens from the voter rolls – a process that starts with someone declaring themselves a non-citizen and then registering to vote,” Youngkin said. Youngkin said that the lawsuit was a “desperate attempt to attack the legitimacy of the elections in the Commonwealth, the very crucible of American Democracy.” “With the support of our Attorney General, we will defend these commonsense steps, that we are legally required to take, with every resource available to us,” he added. “Virginia’s election will be secure and fair, and I will not stand idly by as this politically motivated action tries to interfere in our elections, period.”

Some are now suggesting that “60 Minutes” may have edited Bill Whitaker’s recent interview with Kamala Harris. The differences are subtle but a close reading of the original versus the broadcast transcripts does reveal some small discrepancies.
