Many Big-Name Democrats Are MIA on Kamala’s Campaign Trail

With only about 25 days until this damnably necessary act of democracy descends into recriminations and conversations about 2028, Donald Trump is barnstorming across the nation while Kamala Harris sits for interviews designed to generate turnout from her base. Where are Barack and Michelle Obama? Does democracy not matter? Where is Hillary Rodham Clinton? Where is Joe Biden? Trump is the only star on the Republican side that people want to see. But the Obamas outshine everyone in the Democrats’ political pantheon. The Clintons can still draw a crowd, too. Where are they? The last Democrat to leave Bill Clinton off the campaign trail was his vice president, who lost. Trump has gone to New York and California. Hatred and hagiography of Trump both break brains. Democrats think Trump is wasting his time. Some of his most ardent supporters have concluded he just might win California and New York. The reality is the House Republican majority exists because of swing seats in Southern California and Long Island. Trump going into those areas has the potential to increase turnout. Political science is not an analytical, hard science like chemistry. But data has long shown that a candidate going into an area for a personal visit generates increased enthusiasm and can lead to increased turnout of his voters. In 2016, Democrats lost not because of the Russians, but because Hillary Clinton’s Brooklyn, New York-based team chose to ignore her husband. Bill Clinton insisted Hillary needed to get to Wisconsin, Michigan, and Erie County, Pennsylvania. Her campaign team disagreed. They did not need those kinds of voters, and those kinds of voters understood. They cast votes for Trump instead, who did pay them attention with personal visits. The House Republican majority is in a precarious position. It is possible Trump could win the presidency and the Republicans capture the Senate, but then see their House majority go down in flames. Trump campaigning where the map matters for House Republicans—and not for Trump—shows he is going for the trifecta of government control, the executive branch and both houses of Congress.  Meanwhile, on the Democratic side, Sen. Jon Tester of Montana will not campaign with Harris. Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio is keeping her at a distance. The former is expected to lose his Senate seat. The latter is starting to worry Democrats. Despite rumors of Texas and Florida in play, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer has deployed zero dollars to either state, but has now dumped $10 million into Ohio. With West Virginia going to the GOP and Montana heading that way, the Republicans will have at least 51 seats in the Senate. The GOP is worried about Deb Fischer of Nebraska, who is being challenged by an independent candidate, but most feel confident she will win. That leaves Harris. The big names of the Democratic Party are not campaigning for her. Plenty of House and Senate members do not want to be seen with her. When she went on “The View” and was asked if she would have done anything differently than Joe Biden over the past four years, she said she would not. Her loyalty is commendable, but it just might cost her. On Stephen Colbert’s show, Colbert asked Harris how the next four years will be different from the last four, and she gave the most convoluted word salad uttered by a presidential candidate since Ted Kennedy got asked by Roger Mudd in 1979 why he wanted to be president. “Ummm,” Kennedy began before giving a two-minute nonanswer. Then, when asked how he would be any different from Jimmy Carter, he acted like the question was in an impossible-to-understand foreign language. Harris, after much criticism, decided to do more interviews. All were with friendly interviewers except for the “60 Minutes” interview. It did not matter. She offered only word salads that would send a professional sentence diagrammer off to an insane asylum had they tried to chart the prepositions, nouns, and verbs. It is a terrible sign for her candidacy that she offers no straight answers on her quest for the presidency and no major Democrats want to barnstorm the nation with her. Harris Calls DeSantis ‘Selfish,’ Biden Praises Him as ‘Very Gracious’

Two hours before Hurricane Milton made landfall, President Joe Biden had only kind words for Ron DeSantis—even though his vice president, Kamala Harris, accused Florida’s Republican governor of being “utterly irresponsible.” At issue: a phone call. The day before, Biden even gave DeSantis his personal cellphone number, urging him “to contact me directly, if that’s necessary.” Harris, meanwhile, can’t get through to the governor. After NBC News broke the story that DeSantis was sending Harris to voicemail, she told reporters that the governor was being “selfish” and “playing political games.” Biden does not see it that way. “All I can tell you is I’ve talked to Gov. DeSantis,” the president told reporters after being asked by RealClearPolitics whether DeSantis should take Harris’ calls. “He has been very gracious,” Biden added. “He has thanked me for all we’ve done. He knows what we are doing, and I think that’s important.” It was a subtle but significant split as hurricane season threatens to complicate the coming presidential election. Conservative commentators such as Tiana Lowe of the Washington Examiner likened it to a “reverse Chris Christie.” Acts of God often become political: Former New Jersey Gov. Christie, a Republican, helped former President Barack Obama, a Democrat, across the finish line in 2012 when he effusively praised the White House response to Hurricane Sandy. Christie did not hug Obama as many incorrectly remember. He did warmly greet that president in view of the cameras when Air Force One touched down in Atlantic City, and Obama took the win. “Moments of crisis, if nothing else, should really be the moment that anyone who calls themselves a leader says they’re going to put politics aside and put the people first,” Harris said of DeSantis Monday when asked about reports that DeSantis was dodging her calls. The governor rejected that characterization, and he told Fox News Monday that the vice president was irrelevant. During an interview with Sean Hannity, DeSantis said, “She’s the first one who is trying to politicize the storm. And she’s doing that just because of her campaign.” Isn’t the most important thing that DeSantis is in touch with the president and the Federal Emergency Management Agency? “Yeah, and the vice president is engaged in this process, too,” replied Harris campaign spokesman Ian Sams during a Tuesday interview with Bret Baier of Fox News. The next morning, the vice president joined a White House emergency briefing by telecast. DeSantis was not mentioned. Instead, the current Republican nominee was, and Biden accused former President Donald Trump of leading an “onslaught of lies.” “Assertions have been made that property is being confiscated. That’s simply not true,” he said. “They’re saying people impacted by these storms will receive $750 in cash and no more. That’s simply not true,” he added. Claims that FEMA money had been diverted to migrants rather than storm victims, he concluded, were not just untrue but “a ridiculous thing to say.” Harris slammed Trump for those claims during an appearance with Stephen Colbert on “The Late Show.” “Have you no empathy, man!?” she asked. “You know, for the suffering of other people. Have you no sense of purpose? If you purport to be a leader, you understand that being a leader means lifting people up in a time of need. And not manipulating them, you know.” As it did ahead of Hurricane Helene, the White House repeatedly warned communities in the path of Hurricane Milton to seek shelter. Republicans, led by Trump and his running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, have meanwhile likened the administration’s response to “the DMV on an industrial scale.” Ahead of Hurricane Milton, the Biden administration has preemptively approved a Florida emergency declaration as well as surging emergency personnel, including search and rescue teams, and supplies such as food and water, in the state. During a Wednesday interview with Fox News, DeSantis said that Florida had what was needed. Those needs apparently did not include a conversation with Harris. “If I honestly thought that there was something to be gained, I would pick up the phone and call her,” the governor told Baier. He added that the vice president “has no role in this process. She’s not part of the chain of command. I am working with the president and FEMA and our state and local partners, and we’re getting the job done.” Originally published by RealClearWire.com. Facebook Faces Heat for Blocking Report on Arrest of US Journalist in Israel

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. Facebook has come under scrutiny for censoring an article by Matt Orfalea that reported on the arrest of American journalist Jeremy Loffredo in Israel. Loffredo was arrested shortly after publishing a detailed investigative report on Iranian missile strikes near significant Israeli military and intelligence locations, including an Israeli Air Force base and Mossad headquarters. Loffredo has since been released pending an investigation and is not allowed to leave the country. Orfalea’s article highlighted the circumstances surrounding Loffredo’s arrest and his findings that reportedly contradicted some official Israeli statements about the missile attacks. According to the Times of Israel, as noted by Orfaela, “The exact locations of such impacts and damage are barred from publication by the IDF censor.” Facebook’s censorship of Orfalea’s piece raises significant concerns about freedom of the press and the role of social media platforms in moderating content related to sensitive geopolitical issues. Orfalea questioned the transparency and fairness of Facebook’s content moderation processes, especially given the public interest in Loffredo’s arrest and the broader implications for press freedom. The censorship has not only stifled discussion about Loffredo’s arrest and his report’s contents but also sparked a broader debate on the rights of reporting on matters of significant public concern without interference from state or corporate entities. Loffredo was released after four days in detainment. The charges against Loffredo suggested he had “assisted” the enemy by revealing sensitive locations hit by Iranian missiles. His work, produced for The Grayzone, was at the center of this accusation. The Grayzone is an outlet that often been accused by mainstream sources of carrying pro-Russian narratives, but the arrest of a US citizen for reporting on topics that authorities have banned raises various free speech concerns. The situation pivoted when a journalist from YNet testified that the military censor had approved his own article that embedded Loffredo’s video report. This approval was pivotal in Judge Zion Sahrai’s decision to order Loffredo’s release, citing the censor’s prior approval as evidence that Loffredo’s detention could no longer be justified. Loffredo knew that the were was a ban on the reporting and stated that he pursued the story, “despite the Israeli military censor’s official ban on publishing the locations.” However, according to Orfalea, PBS journalist Nick Schifrin, like Loffredo, reported on the same missile strike from an identical location without repercussions. Facebook users posted screenshots showing evidence that Facebook was censoring stories on Loffredo’s arrest. According to the screenshots, Facebook removed the stories under its “spam” policy. Termite Infestation Signs | A Homesteader’s Basic Guide

How do you know your home is already in great danger due to termite infestation? From shelter tubes to damaged hollow wood, learn the 5 warning signs. 5 Termite Infestation Signs You Should Watch Out For Hello, fellow homesteaders! Winter is almost over, and I know you're preparing your garden for the spring (oh, I love spring!). But before you get too excited, why don't you grab some tea and perhaps comfort food for a bit because we're going to talk about something important today. Now, this isn't for the faint-hearted – and I certainly wish I won't have to mention it – but a lot of us live in cozy homes with a lot of wood. Before they destroy your home's structure, learn these termite infestation warning signs:   Termite Infestation Sign #1: Shelter Tubes And Tunnels | There are three general types of termites that can invade your home: subterranean termites, dampwood termites, and drywood termites. Of the three, subterranean are the most common, and they usually live in the soil. The others are in the wood they eat. Either way, all of them consume wood since it's rich in cellulose. To help them transport food from their home to the source (and vice versa), they make shelter tubes and tunnels, which can look like the one above or random linear patterns on the floor or wall.  These tubes and tunnels make good disguises too (not really, though, as you can see them). Note not all instances of termite infestation will lead to the appearance of these tubes and tunnels because these insects can be REALLY tricky. But if you happen to see them, there is a 100 percent chance termites are in your home.   Termite Infestation Sign #2: Termite Wings image via thetermitetrackers Winged termites are swarmers, and during certain seasons, especially during rainfall, they fly. However, male and female winged termites also reproduce. When they're ready to build their colony, they come to the ground and shed their wings. What does this mean? It's possible your problem has gone from bad to worse since these termites may be forming another colony. If that isn't enough, the cycle continues as long as these termites can have a king and a queen. Don't know what firewood you might need to keep you and your family warm this winter? See our list of the best ones on HOMESTEADING.COM (link in bio)! ????????????#HappyHomesteading A post shared by Homesteading (@homesteadingusa) on Jan 23, 2017 at 4:46am PST   Termite Infestation Sign #3: Swarm image via roadsendnaturalist To be clear, to see a swarm doesn't immediately mean there's already an infestation. If you happen to see one in your yard or woodpile, then it's not much of a concern since they're in their natural habitat. However, you should start thinking about a termite treatment if you can already see them, winged or not, near your doors, windowsills, and even underneath the home. They're more likely have a chance to get in without you knowing it.   Termite Infestation Sign #4: Wood Damage | Do you know the food sources for termites? Well, you have plastic and paper. But the ultimate meal for them is plant matter, to be more specific, wood. And wood is one of the most basic materials for a home's foundation. It's not easy to spot wood damage due to termite infestation, and usually, when you do, it means the problem is already quite severe. Nevertheless, if you do your due diligence and check on your baseboards, floors, edges of your windows and doors, ceilings, and other parts of the home where moisture and wood are abundant, you may see some signs of wood damage. Another way is to hit the wood with a screwdriver or anything hard. If it sounds hollow, then you should start drilling a hole and check the inside condition of the wood.   Termite Infestation Sign #5: Tighter Doors And Windows | Although there are many reasons why doors and windows become tighter and more difficult to close, one of these is actually the presence of a termite swarm or colony. As they devour wood, they also produce moisture. Moisture, in turn, causes the wood to warp, therefore tightening the gaps.   WARNING: This may upset you, but it's actually one of the signs of termite infestation. They do make sounds, which can range from the rustling noise of the worker termites or the headbanging of the soldiers.  Based on the list above, do you think you have a termite infestation in your home? Homesteaders, it's always best to be safe than sorry later. Go check every nook and cranny of your house. Use this as your guide when doing your inspection. Note though there are ways to eliminate termites by yourself, when you feel you can't do it, always call an expert. Do you know of other signs of termite infestation? Let the rest of the community know about it. We'll be glad to add them to this list as well. I Stepped on My Dog’s Paw, What Should I Do? Vet Answer

Click to Skip Ahead Anatomy of a Dog Paw What to Do If you Stepped on Your Dog’s Paw What Happens if My Dog Has a Broken Bone? We’ve all been there—you walk across the room, only to accidentally step on your dog’s paw in the process. Maybe they yelp and withdraw, only increasing your guilt for the accidental slight. In some cases, your dog may continue to act a little “off” toward you for a period of time. There’s also a possibility that your dog will limp, yelp, or lick their foot which are all signs of pain. After all, we are (usually) much larger than our dogs, so of course stepping on their paw can be painful! The consequences of a stepped on paw can range from recovering pretty quickly without ill effect to a broken bone and other damage. Read on to learn what you should do when you step on your dog’s paw. The Anatomy of the Paw Here we give a run down on the anatomy of dogs paws so that you can understand the areas and parts that can be injured. The make up of a dog’s paw is very similar to the human hand. On the front and hind paws, dogs have 4 main weight-bearing toes (digits) which are each made up of three small bones (phalanges). Most dogs also have an extra smaller digit higher up on the inside of their front paws, called a dew claw. Some dogs have hind dew claws or even double dew claws. All these digits end in a nail and contain sensitive tissue called the quick. The bones within the body of the paw are named the metatarsals (back leg) and metacarpals (front leg) and the paw ends at the joint called the carpus (wrist) of the front legs or tarsus (hock) of the back legs. The paw has nerves and vessels that travel through to each digit, as well as tendons above and below each digit. On the upper surface, the paws are covered by skin and hair, and on the underside, there are spongy paw pads to cushion them. Any and all of these structures can be injured if you accidentally step on your dog’s paw. Image Credit: LUM3N, Pixabay Stepped on Your Dog’s Paw? Here’s What to Do 1. Reassure Them When you step on your dog’s paw it can come as a shock to you both. Reassure them that you’re not angry with them, and that you did not intend to hurt them. You can do this by speaking in a high-pitched voice and giving them pats. You can try to make your dog forget all about it by distracting them with a nice treat. Image Credit: Bogdan Sonjachnyj, Shutterstock 2. Evaluate the Paw Firstly look at the paw from a distance- is it hanging abnormally or obviously broken? Look at how your dog is moving. Are they putting weight on their paw? Are they limping? When vets look at injuries, not wanting to use the leg at all is considered to be more severe than something that just causes a mild limp, although both show that your dog is in pain. It may be necessary to protect yourself while examining your dog’s feet, if you believe it necessary at this next stage then pop a muzzle on your dog. If your dog is walking quite well and is fine with you touching their feet, examine their paw up close. If they don’t allow you to look at the paw, this could be a sign that it is painful for them. Remember to not force them, as they may bite due to pain. Look for external wounds. Anything more than a graze will need veterinary treatment but if there is a minor abrasion that does not break the skin, you can treat this with a dog-safe antiseptic. Check for any torn nails, then examine and feel each digit from the nail up, moving the joints as you go. If your dog reacts painfully, you notice any swelling, or there are bones obviously out of alignment, go to the vet. You may need to recheck the paw a few times over a period of a couple of hours to evaluate for any swelling, redness, or tenderness. 3. Call the Vet Your veterinarian will be your first port of call for any injuries sustained to your dog’s foot. After checking the paw to the best of your ability give the veterinary clinic a call and they will guide you as to if an appointment is necessary. If your dog is experiencing any limping, tenderness, swelling, or redness, or seems to be excessively licking their paw, then you should contact your vet. Depending on the severity of your dog’s discomfort and swelling, they may want to do an X-ray to ensure nothing is broken or otherwise damaged. If there are no fractures, your dog may need some anti-inflammatories or another type of pain relief medication. They can also treat breaks in the skin with stitches, topical antibiotics, oral antibiotics, bandaging, or other treatments as appropriate. Image Credit: SeventyFour, Shutterstock 4. Try a Cool Pack Remember to always follow the guidance of your vet above all else, so when you call them, ask them if they feel like it’s appropriate to use a cool pack on your dog’s paw. Frozen vegetables, ice packs, and even washcloths soaked in cold water are all good options for helping to reduce swelling to your dog’s paw in the acute phase of the injury. Always ensure there is a layer of material between the cold pack and your dog’s paw, though! Dogs can experience pain and even frostbite from having something frozen pressed directly against their skin for too long. Instead, opt for wrapping the cold pack in a tea towel or washcloth. What Happens if My Dog Has a Broken Bone? Your vet may determine from X-rays that your dog has broken (fractured) one or more bones in the paw, and provide a treatment plan. For noncomplicated breaks, conservative treatment options like splints, bandages, or casts may be appropriate to support the paw until the bones heal. For more complicated breaks or multiple bones affected, surgical plating may be recommended. In both cases, you can expect vet follow-up visits to change the dressing and monitor the paw. Repeat X-rays are often recommended to monitor the healing progress. In Conclusion Try not to feel too bad if you step on your dog’s paw! It can be easy to put a lot of blame on yourself for this type of accident, but the more stressed and upset you are, the more stressful the situation will be for your pup. Stay calm and reasonable after you step on your dog’s paw, providing them with a positive distraction from the event. Check the paw over if possible and contact your veterinarian if your dog needs further care.  In the case of actual damage to the foot, your vet is the best resource to guide you in how to properly care for your dog’s injured paw. Biden-Harris double standard: Billions for Ukraine, warnings for Israel

The Biden-Harris administration’s foreign policy has a glaring double standard between how it treats Ukraine and Israel. When it comes to Ukraine, they have complete moral clarity: Russia is the aggressor, Ukraine is the victim, and the United States must do everything in its power to support Ukraine’s fight for sovereignty — even if that means handing over tanks, missiles, and fighter jets with no questions asked. The United States has sent over $174 billion in aid to Ukraine since the Russian invasion with no end in sight. Dismissing the risk of escalating into World War III, Joe Biden keeps pushing forward, pledging more resources and weapons to a conflict that has already brought us closer to nuclear war than at any time since the Cuban missile crisis. If we’re going to give Ukraine a blank check to defend its sovereignty, then Israel deserves nothing less. Now, compare the administration’s posture toward Israel, where things suddenly get complicated. Instead of providing unflinching support to Israel — a nation facing daily attacks from Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists funded by Iran — the Biden team cuts funding, pushes for ceasefires, and moralizes over Israel’s every move. We’re told that diplomacy and restraint are the only acceptable options for Israel while Ukraine gets a pass to defend itself in any way it sees fit. When Volodymyr Zelenskyy addresses Congress, he’s met with standing ovations and massive arms shipments. But when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the United States in July, half of the Democrats in Congress refused to even attend his address, with some like Rep. Rashida Tlaib calling him a “war criminal” and accusing him of genocide. Why does Ukraine deserve a blank check while Israel is treated like a problem child? It’s not just hypocrisy — it’s an agenda. The Biden-Harris administration, along with much of the radical left, seems to have a real problem with Israel defending itself. Casualties in Gaza are tracked meticulously and condemned while the human toll in Ukraine is barely mentioned. The corporate left-wing media has no trouble backing Ukraine’s right to exist and fight off Vladimir Putin, but it applies a completely different standard to Israel, even though both nations are fighting for survival against forces that want to wipe them off the map. The reason? Israel happens to be the homeland of the Jewish people, and a lot of folks on the left still have a problem with that. The administration’s double standard is a slap in the face to one of our closest allies, and it reveals just how far they’ll go to coddle Iran and other hostile actors while throwing Israel under the bus. Putin is an evil dictator, and no one wants Russia to march through Ukraine or the rest of Europe. But if we’re going to give Ukraine a blank check to defend its sovereignty, then Israel deserves nothing less. Instead of undermining our ally, the Biden administration should be providing Israel with the same unflinching support that it gives Ukraine. Anything less is not only a betrayal of our values, but it’s also a dangerous gamble with the future of the Middle East. We shouldn’t expect anything different from a Harris-Walz administration. Harris has purposefully been evasive on questions regarding Israel while catering to the Democratic Party’s pro-Hamas wing. This administration is what Iran is banking on. If we fail to stop Iran and its proxies now, the consequences will be far more catastrophic than anything happening in Eastern Europe. Want more from Glenn Beck? How these four women are SAVING female sports

While the left continues to campaign for the right of delusional men to compete in women’s sports, there are several strong female athletes fighting it. Riley Gaines is one of them. “The former University of Kentucky swimmer, the superstar conservative outspoken Christian woman — she’s got to be the Rosa Parks of this,” Jason Whitlock of “Fearless” tells Jill Savage and Matthew Peterson of “Blaze News Tonight.” Whitlock believes that brave women like Gaines have helped inspire boycotts like the one going on with the San Jose State women’s volleyball team, which features a man as its best player. “There’s been a series of four universities that have refused to play against this San Jose State team, and I believe Riley Gaines, being the outspoken leader, kind of sparked this boycott,” Whitlock says, noting that he also believes “the advent and popularity” of Caitlin Clark have also inspired young women to take a stand. “She hasn’t taken a strong position, but to see a woman this dominant in the sports arena and become the biggest star in American sports, I think, has inspired women and maybe helped young women realize the importance of protecting their own space,” he explains. Whitlock also credits Sage Steele and Samantha Ponder with giving young women the strength to fight back. “Two women that had big careers at ESPN, stood out there and basically said, ‘Hey, I think it’s important to protect women in these sports deals.’ Ended up losing their jobs at ESPN,” he explains. “I compare Riley Gaines to Rosa Parks, I compare Sage Steele and Samantha Ponder to John Carlos and Tommy Smith, the guys that raised their fist in the Olympics, and I compare Caitlin Clark to Jackie Robinson.” “It’s just a common-sense issue that I think takes the scales off people’s eyes, and you can see what the other side represents: total chaos and insanity,” he adds. Gutsy motorist faces down gun-toting carjacker, gamely fights back against thug with his bare hands

A gutsy motorist faced down a gun-toting carjacker in Maryland earlier this week and successfully fought back with his bare hands. Anne Arundel County Police said a male brandishing a firearm approached a 32-year-old man around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at a Marathon gas station in the 5700 block of Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park and demanded his car keys. Brooklyn Park is about 20 minutes south of Baltimore. 'Good. Fight back against thugs.' Police said the victim initially complied but then quickly rushed the suspect, causing him to fall backward, after which the suspect's gun discharged. The bullet struck the windshield of the victim’s vehicle, police said, adding that the suspect then fled the scene on the back of a black moped another unidentified person was driving. Officers conducted a search of the area but couldn't find the suspects, police said, adding that the victim did not report any injuries. Northern District detectives are investigating and request that those with information to contact 410-222-6135 or the Tip Line at 410-222-4700. How are observers reacting? Commenters underneath WMAR-TV's Facebook post about the incident seemed please with the motorist's actions: "Good job," one commenter said. "Tired of criminals terrorizing people." "Good," another user declared. "Fight back against thugs." "Outstanding," another user exclaimed. "The question is: WHY does the average citizen have to even deal with this level of crime???" another commenter wondered. "The wrong 'leaders' and legislators are in office," another user wrote. "The Constitution states that we have a right to protect ourselves, but we also have the right to feel reasonably safe. Maryland residents are being failed miserably and gaslighted." Like Blaze News?
