The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) accused Instant Brands, responsible for making Pyrex kitchen and home products, of falsely claiming to produce all their items in the US, whereas more than 110,000 units of measuring cups were made in China. Consumers who bought this utensil might just be getting a check soon as the FTC is set to issue up to $88,000 in refunds to affected persons. Instant Brands has agreed to pay the agency for the damages and deception caused by their false claims. The director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, Samuel Levine, noted that marketers have to provide accurate information to consumers. He added that changes such as this temporary manufacturing switch should have been announced through ads and other means.
