Netanyahu Delivers Inspiring Message To Lebanon While Revealing Death Blow To Hezbollah

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu encouraged the people of Lebanon this week to take their country back from Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed terrorist organization that has effectively taken over the country. Netanyahu made the remarks as Israel continues ground operations in southern Lebanon to eliminate the terrorist group along Israel’s northern border so tens of thousands of Israelis can return to their homes. He delivered a similar message to the people of Iran last week where he promised them that they would be free from tyranny sooner than many think. “Lebanon was once known for its tolerance, for its beauty,” he said. “Today, it’s a place of chaos, a place of war. Israel withdrew from Lebanon 25 years ago.” “But the country that actually conquered Lebanon is not Israel,” he continued. “It’s Iran. Iran, which finances and arms Hezbollah to serve Iran’s interests at Lebanon’s expense. Hezbollah has turned Lebanon into a stockpile of ammunition weapons and a forward Iranian military base.” He noted that Hezbollah joined Hamas’ war against Israel the day after Hamas launched its unprecedented infiltration into Israel on October 7 where they subsequently massacred 1,200 people, wounded thousands more, and took hundreds hostage. Am I Racist? Is In Theaters NOW — Get Your Tickets Here! “[Hezbollah] has since fired over 8,000 missiles at Israel, killing civilians without distinction—Jews, Christians, Muslims and Druze,” he said. “Israel has decided to put an end to this. We’ve decided to do whatever is necessary to return our people safely to their homes. Israel has a right to defend itself. Israel also has a right to win! And Israel will win!” In addition to killing Hezbollah’s leader, Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, Netanyahu revealed that Israel’s military has also killed Nasrallah’s replacement and the replacement of his replacement. His remarks come as Israel has virtually eliminated Hezbollah’s entire senior officer corps, having killed hundreds of senior and mid-level commanders, including the group’s top leaders. “Today, Hezbollah is weaker than it has been for many many years,” he said. “Now you, the Lebanese people, you stand at a significant crossroads. It is your choice. You can now take back your country. You can return it to a path of peace and prosperity.” “If you don’t, Hezbollah will continue to try to fight Israel from densely populated areas at your expense,” he continued. “It doesn’t care if Lebanon is dragged into a wider war. Christians, Druze, Muslims—Sunnis and Shiites—all of you are suffering because of Hezbollah’s futile war against Israel.” To all the mothers and fathers of Lebanon, he asked them if they wanted a better future for their sons and daughters. “I know you want a better future for your children,” he said. “There is a better way. A better way for your children, for your cities, for your villages, for your country. You deserve to restore Lebanon to its days of tranquility; you deserve a Lebanon that is different.” “Don’t let these terrorists destroy your future any more than they’ve already done,” he continued. “Stand up and take your country back. You have an opportunity that hasn’t existed in decades. An opportunity to take care of the future of your children and grandchildren. You have an opportunity to save Lebanon before it falls into the abyss of a long war that will lead to destruction and suffering like we see in Gaza. It doesn’t have to be that way.” WATCH: This is a message to the people of Lebanon: pic.twitter.com/btMQR0Xwtn — Benjamin Netanyahu – בנימין נתניהו (@netanyahu) October 8, 2024

CDC Advisory Panel Should Boost Patient Choice in Fighting This Lung Disease

CDC Advisory Panel Should Boost Patient Choice in Fighting This Lung Disease

A panel at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that advises the U.S. government on vaccines is expected to endorse a recommendation this month to lower the age from 65 to 50 for getting a routine pneumococcal vaccination, a shot to ward off a serious lung infection. Health policy experts and patient advocates say the endorsement of the age change for pneumonia vaccination is likely when the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, composed of medical and public health experts, convenes Oct. 23 at CDC headquarters in Atlanta., Such a move would be welcome news for patients and medical providers.  We know that vaccines are the best way to help prevent pneumococcal disease, which the CDC defines as a serious lung infection caused by the bacterium Streptococcus pneumoniae. Lowering the recommended age to 50 makes good public health sense. More awareness and greater access to pneumonia vaccines will boost vaccine rates and protect older adults, ultimately saving lives. It’s good science and good policy. After the COVID-19 pandemic, unfortunately, vaccines became a provocative issue in certain quarters of the public discussion. When public health officials followed the science, good policies turned into good health outcomes. However, when governments and elected officials followed the politics without the science, the pandemic response went sideways. Regardless, we know this to be true: The threat of the new coronavirus diminished for many Americans thanks to the COVID-19 vaccines. A recommendation by the CDC’s immunization committee to lower the age for pneumonia vaccination would help patients, of course, but it also would help restore goodwill lost after the pandemic. That recommendation would expand access to immunizations and increase trust in the public health community.  It’s critical, though, for the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices to be an honest actor in its vaccination recommendations. The American people have had enough of government officials picking winners and losers. The public wants greater choice and better access to 21st-century medicine; it doesn’t want experts in Atlanta making health care decisions for doctors in New Jersey or California or anywhere else. There are two primary vaccines approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for pneumococcal disease. The public knows every medicine does not interact with every patient in the same way. So, if there is a choice or option in pneumococcal vaccines, the decision to prescribe must be left to physicians. Your doctor should decide which FDA-approved medicine or vaccine works best for you.  CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices does important work. This proposal to lower the age recommendation for routine pneumococcal vaccination deserves applause. It’s good science. Giving patients greater choice and access to health care is good medicine. Both pneumococcal vaccines should be recommended by the immunization committee for Americans 50 and older.  We publish a variety of perspectives. Nothing written here is to be construed as representing the views of The Daily Signal. While hiking, you may stumble upon these delightful fruits just waiting to be picked. Learn more about the history of wild apple varieties at Britannica. Black Walnuts Black walnuts are an autumn staple often found in forests and parks. Their bold, earthy flavor sets them apart from regular walnuts. To enjoy them, remove the outer husk and crack the shell. This reveals the rich nut inside. Whether roasted or raw, black walnuts make an excellent protein-packed fall snack or as an ingredient in recipes requiring nuts. Wild Grapes Wild grapes cling to trees and fences. Although smaller than store-bought varieties, they pack an intense flavor. These tart fruits are perfect for making jams, jellies, or even wine. When you roast chestnuts, their sweet, buttery flavor intensifies and makes them a delicious snack on cool autumn evenings. Mushrooms Fall is the peak season for mushrooms. The forest floor teems with edible species such as chanterelles, hen-of-the-woods, and porcini mushrooms. However, avoid poisoning by making sure to positively identify your fungi before consuming any. Once harvested, mushrooms can enhance dishes from soups to sautés with its rich, earthy flavors. Mushroom-Collecting.com provides essential identification tips to help foragers stay safe. Rose Hips Look for wild roses, and you’ll likely find rose hips—small red fruits packed with vitamin C. These bright fruits ripen in the fall. You can make them into teas, jams, or syrups. Their tart, citrusy flavor complements many dishes, and their health benefits make them a must-have for any forager. Hickory Nuts Hickory nuts, found beneath hickory trees, are a fall treasure. Though they may be tough to crack, their sweet, rich flavor makes the effort worthwhile. Hickory nuts shine in baked goods where their distinctive nuttiness help enhance many fall recipes. Elderberries Elderberries ripen in late summer and early fall. They offer small but mighty fruits packed with antioxidants. These deep purple berries can be turned into syrups, jams, or even wine. Because of their immune-boosting properties, elderberries are a great addition to your fall foraging haul. Dandelion Roots Dandelion roots are incredibly beneficial, particularly in fall when they store energy for winter. You can harvest these roots to make a bitter yet nutritious tea or roast them as a coffee alternative. Indeed, it’s a fun and healthy way to use an often overlooked plant. Your Fall Wild Edibles Await! Fall is the perfect time to explore the wilderness and gather its abundant offerings. Whether you’re roasting chestnuts, gathering wild grapes, or exploring the versatility of acorns, there’s no shortage of delicious discoveries waiting for you. Each foraged food tells a story and connects you more deeply to the land. So, lace up your boots and head outside—your next meal could be waiting right underfoot!

Meet the ‘Poopcopter’! An AI Drone That Scans From The Sky To Scoop Up Dog Poop

As dog owners, we might all agree that picking up our dogs’ mess is on the bottom of our ‘favorite things’ list about pet ownership. Well, a dog owner has had enough from picking up after his dog and decided to design and build the “Poopcopter” – the “world’s first aerial bound self-guided dog poop removal system“. In the handy invention’s YouTube video description, it read, “The Poopcopter is the world’s first aerial bound self guided dog poop removal system, using a drone, 3D printed a pickup mechanism, and some machine learning – so that you never have to pick up dog poop again!” “No one likes to pick dog poop,” the Poopcopter’s inventor, Caleb Olson says during the live showcase of the machine at the Minnedemo40. “And I thought about this problem way more than I’d like to admit,” he adds. Before the Poopcopter was born, Olson explains that he initially built a dog poop detector using a security camera. It is then used to monitor his dog, Twinky, to alert him after she’s done relieving herself, and to track Twinky’s poop spots. He then took the automation further – he developed a robot laser that pinpointed the exact location of the poop, making it easier to find. However, these still didn’t solve Olson’s main problem: picking up and still having to touch the poop himself. “Today, you don’t have to touch the poop,” Olson reveals. “The Poopcopter is capable of scanning areas defined by a user, your backyard for example, and as it’s scanning, it’s performing real-time computer vision using the camera, which is inside the drone.” The machine uses a bell-shaped container with geared leaves that helps effectively pick up waste. “It’s kind of like a UFO except it’s abducting dog poop instead of people,” Olson says. Olson also tells SWNS, “Once the drone performs a precision… landing on top of poop, all the drone needs to do is rotate 30 degrees to close the mechanism, picking up the poop.” Once it secures the waste, the machine then flies to a designated drop off location, or it can spin around fast enough to fling the waste anywhere. “It’s fully self guided, fully capable of retrieving poop from grass, and it’s full of crap, ” he adds. According to Olson, the machine may be available for purchase in the future. But for now, Olson said he is working to improve his invention in the hopes that it will soon change the game for dog poop removal. “I don’t really know what to do with this thing,” he said jokingly.
