New Counter-Strike 2 update punishes cheaters for an entire year

Cheaters are the bane of online games, but in some cases, it almost feels worth people using bugs, exploits, and hacks just to see what ingenious punishments developers will deploy. Long-time Valve fans will remember the famous Christmas chests for Dota 2, which when opened by cheating players, contained nothing but a digital lump of coal and a message that they had been banned. Rainbow Six Siege also had a good one, where if you tried to team-kill a compadre, you’d actually end up shooting and eliminating yourself. Now, the new Counter-Strike 2 update comes down hard on anyone exploiting the recent armor stars bug. If you get your kicks from conning the entire in-game trading system, Valve is going straight for your neck. Blizzard explains that one wild plot twist in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred

As if that vaguely horrifying Summer Game Fest trailer wasn't enough of a giveaway, Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred is defined by blood, guts, and gore. There's death, destruction, and violence, framed by a gorgeous jungle-inspired world and the rumbles of religious conflict. VoH is, for me, absolute perfection, but there was one plot point that completely threw me off. While it's hardly going to deter me from playing the game all over again, I ask associate narrative designer Eleni Rivera-Colon about that decision, and the game's comparatively hopeless ending versus Lilith's demise at the end of Diablo 4. Note that this article contains major spoilers - you've been warned. Kamala Harris’s Main Priority Is Expanding Welfare, Not Strengthening the Middle Class

Harris’s agenda: big new welfare checks for nonworkers and inevitably higher taxes for everyone else who has to pick up the tab.

Threads is working on a community groups feature

Instagram says the feature is in early development. | Illustration: The Verge Threads is working on a new community feature that will seemingly allow users to group together around particular topics and interests, TechCrunch reports. Developer Chris Messina spotted references to “Loops” in the code for Threads’ latest app update, which vaguely describes something similar to the “Communities” feature on X or even subreddits. The code mentions things like the ability to join and leave a Loop community, and giving it a name and bio. The discovery builds upon sleuthing done earlier by developer and established leaker Alessandro Paluzzi, who found examples showing what the Loops feature might look like inside the Threads app, including “a shortcut to the composer and the home header.” One screenshot shows a speech... Someone built a transparent iPhone 16 Pro and you have to see it

If you buy an iPhone 16 Pro or 16 Pro Max, you are restricted to four colors that all have the word "titanium" in them: Desert Titanium, Natural Titanium, White Titanium, and Black Titanium. They're not bad options, but they're not great either. I like the colors for the base iPhone 16 models better. Then again, Apple had to figure out a way to make the titanium framework with the rear glass. Apple went for these paint options as they are supposed to be closer to the color of titanium. You can change the iPhone 16 Pro color by using cases and skins, but what if you wanted a transparent back? It turns out there is a way to pull it off, and the results are remarkable. A YouTuber put out a video showing the entire process, which involves using gallium to help break down the recycled aluminum on the back of the rear glass. Continue reading...
