Nintendo has reportedly shut down Ryujinx, the Switch emulator that was supposedly immune

Illustration by Alex Castro / The Verge Nintendo may have just won its battle to put the most popular Nintendo Switch emulators out of business. In March, it sued Yuzu out of existence — and now it may have convinced Yuzu’s primary competitor, Ryujinx, to go away too. Ryujinx’s download page is now empty. Its GitHub is gone. And the emulator’s X social media page and official Discord now contains a possible explanation: Nintendo got to its lead developer, and convinced them to shut down the project for good. pic.twitter.com/2Ggt9SWoDI— Ryujinx (@RyujinxEmu) October 1, 2024 “Yesterday, gdkchan was contacted by Nintendo and offered an agreement to stop working on the project, remove the organization and all related assets he’s in control of,” writes developer and moderator... Christian Selig’s unofficial YouTube app for the Vision Pro just got taken down

Image: Christian Selig Juno, the third-party YouTube app created for the Apple Vision Pro, has been removed from the App Store. In a post on Tuesday, developer Christian Selig said the app was taken down months after Google warned that it violates YouTube’s guidelines. Google said a YouTube app for the Vision Pro is “on the roadmap” in February, but we haven’t heard any updates since. Sad news, but Juno for YouTube has been removed from the App Store. It's been a ton of fun to build, thanks to all who used it and enjoyed it! ❤️ https://t.co/W1xLBpKSgd— Christian Selig (@ChristianSelig)... Continue reading…

Snap employees were well aware of the app’s child safety issues, newly unsealed complaint says

Illustration by Alex Castro / The Verge “By November 2022, Snap employees were discussing 10,000 user reports of sextortion each month, while acknowledging that these reports ‘likely represent a small fraction of this abuse’ given the shame and other barriers to reporting,” says a newly unsealed version of the lawsuit filed by New Mexico’s attorney general against Snap. This less-redacted version of the filing we first saw a month ago adds fresh details about what Snap employees allegedly knew about the scope of the sextortion issue it’s accused of facilitating on its platform. In one alleged instance, employees referenced a case with 75 reports against it “mentioning nudes, minors, and extortion, yet the account was still active.” And in 2022, Snap’s internal research...
