Sneaky Tricksters Strike Florida Light Display With Wholesome Prank.

Christmas is a magical time for the folks of St. Augustine. Every year‚ when the holiday seasons rolls around‚ the city is beautifully lit with over 3 million lightbulbs. This event is called Nights of Lights‚ and it’s a beloved tradition in this Florida city. It’s made possible‚ in part‚ with the help of folks like Chris Fitts. He and his team at the Angles in the Architecture put in a lot of time‚ effort‚ and love to perfectly decorate the city with an incredible amount of lights. Each and every one of the lights that adorn the city are clear — except for one. YouTube Years ago‚ a city worker named Bob Mangels started to hide a single red bulb for his daughter‚ Liliana. Now‚ Liliana has a child of her own‚ and the tradition continues for her‚ too. Still‚ these aren’t the only colorful lights you’ll find in St. Augustine. Every year‚ a couple of colored bulbs will pop up. Chris knows this because he checks the lights daily to make sure they’re all running properly. When he does‚ he’ll spot a few that don’t belong. When this happens‚ he simply replaces them with a clear bulb. YouTube Wholesome Prank Takes Over Nights of Lights in St. Augustine Although this is nothing new‚ 2023 saw an increase in colored bulb spottings unlike anything Chris has ever seen before. “I’d say probably 150 colored bulbs this season‚” Chris tells local news at one point. “Bunch of bulbs.” YouTube What makes this increase all the more peculiar is where he’s finding them. Some are located in unusually tall buildings or even on palm trees. This begs the question: How many people are involved‚ and how are they reaching these obscure spots? Unfortunately‚ this wholesome prankster (or pranksters) remains unknown. In any case‚ Chris continues to do what he always does: replace them. Because‚ if he didn’t? Well‚ here’s what he says will happen. YouTube “Oh my gosh‚ if I didn’t take the color bulbs out‚ I would say in about four weeks‚ we would be half-clear‚ half-colored bulbs‚” Chris says with a laugh. “It would be a very colorful Nights of Lights.” Despite the increase in colored bulb sightings‚ Chris doesn’t mind at all. In fact‚ he quite enjoys this wholesome prank. “It makes it fun‚” he shares. “It keeps me on my toes!” You can find the source of this story’s featured image here!
