Astronaut Shares Astonishing Photo And Videos Of Hurricane Milton From Space
Ever since Hurricane Milton made landfall yesterday in Florida, countless folks have taken to social media to share footage of the storm. Many of these videos and photos have showcased the immense power of this destructive storm. Each one provides us with a new point of view. That said, none are quite like the view of Hurricane Milton from space. Yes, that’s right, from space.
Matthew Dominick has been serving as commander of a NASA crew since March 3, 2024. As a flight engineer, he’s getting the chance to conduct all sorts of science experiments at the International Space Station. Lucky for us, he has also been documenting incredible moments, too, like the total solar eclipse. Now, he’s sharing the stunning views he got to witness of Hurricane Milton.

In the video above, we get a glimpse of Hurricane Milton before it reached Florida. This footage truly showcases the magnitude of this massive storm. At this point, it may have still been a Category 5 hurricane. Either way, it’s an absolutely breathtaking view.
“We flew over Hurricane Milton again today about an hour ago,” Matthew shares of the photo taken early on Wednesday morning. “It was not as symmetric as yesterday but it appeared larger today.”

NASA Astronaut Captures Breathtaking Footage of Hurricane Milton From the International Space Station
The swirling clouds over the bright blue ocean look beautiful — and this is just from photos and videos. Imagine what this view must have looked like in person! Soon after that photo was taken, Matthew shared a second video that was taken around the same time.

“Man we live in the future. To have HD video from space so easily accessible on social media still breaks my brain. What a time to be alive,” someone on social media shared in response, with another adding, “Hard to wrap your head around the sheer size and power of these storms. Thanks for sharing your perspective!”
