Bull In A China Shop, Meet Wolf In A Bookstore: Wolf Rescue Offers Unique Experience
Bookstores are known for holding all sorts of fun events, like author book signings and literary-related craft nights. But the Romance Era Bookshop in Vancouver, Washington is thinking way outside the box. This cozy shop already stands out as the only exclusively romance bookstore in the area, but it took things up a few notches thanks to their partnership with a local wolf rescue.
This local wolf rescue is called The Shadows. In order to better educate folks on the wolf ecosystem and “just how much like us they really are,” they held an event at the shop. But that is just the start of what made their event so special. Best of all, humans from the rescue weren’t the only ones in attendance — they brought two wolves with them! Get a glimpse at the amazing time these wolves, named Saaya and Ekko, had with the customers who attended!
@theromanceerabookshop I got to partner with the local wolf rescue @TheShadows to bring bonded pair Saaya and Ekko to the shop to meet some folx who were interested in learning about the wolf ecosystem and just how different real wolves are to how they're written about in the books we love. we had the best time and I can't wait to have them back! #vanwa #booktok #romancebooks ♬ Fantasy Fairy Tale Background – Evgeny
“Thank you to everyone who came to help raise funds for the rescue!” the bookstore’s caption reads. “Go follow @ofwolfandshadow to stay up to date on how you can help the wolf population not just here in Washington but anywhere that needs our help. You can also book some of the most amazing photoshoots with these beans too!”
As the video shows, everyone there fell in love with these precious wolves! And it’s clear that Saaya and Ekko were loving the attention, too!

“I would drop everything to be able to pet wolves and AT A BOOKSTORE?!?!” someone shares in the comment section of the video, with another adding, “I’m going to the wrong book stores.”
“Everyone’s smiles,” a third person thoughtfully points out. “They all look so beautiful!”
