Never Too Late To Find Love: Meet The World’s Oldest Newlyweds

When Marjorie Fiterman married Bernie Littman on May 19, 2024, it wasn’t your typical wedding. For one thing, the bride and groom were 100 and 102 years old, respectively. For another, their nuptials actually broke a Guinness World Record! These two lovebirds are officially the world’s oldest newlyweds based on their combined age of 202. Marjorie and Bernie met at a costume party in their senior living facility. They’d both been married before, and they’d both lost their spouses. After nearly ten years of dating, the elderly couple surprised everyone by choosing to remarry! Their ceremony took place at the senior home, where family members showered the newlyweds with love. Bernie’s granddaughter, Sarah Sicherman, hadn’t been expecting the couple to take their relationship to the next level. As she told Fox News, she and her family had “assumed they would just live out their days status quo.” However, she was still very happy for her grandfather. “We were all thrilled that he found someone to do activities and spend time with,” Sarah said. Rabbi Adam Wohlberg had the honor of joining the world’s oldest newlyweds in matrimony. He had some beautiful things to say about the elderly couple, even though he refrained from offering relationship advice. As he pointed out, Marjorie and Bernie had “already amassed a lifetime of wisdom and experience.” Screengrab from YouTube “That’s not to suggest that you won’t continue to learn and develop as people,” he said. “But I think it is safe to say each of you, what you know and understand about each other, is exactly what the future holds for you and your partner. And what you have determined you love about each other — well, those things are not about to change.” Previously, the Guinness World Record holders for “oldest couple to marry (aggregate age)” were Doreen and George Kirby from England. Their combined age when they tied the knot was 194. We hope that new record holders Marjorie and Bernie live out the rest of their twilight years together in health and happiness!
