Original “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer” Puppet Set Sells For An Astounding $287K & Buyer Donates Them
The original Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer film perfectly embodies the coziness of Christmas. This stop-motion movie first aired on NBC back in 1964. While the actors of the movie had no idea it would become such a huge success, it continues to be one, even today. In fact, this beloved film is set to return to our screens on NBC in a couple of days! This is being done to celebrate the 60th anniversary.
But watching the film isn’t the only way to take a trip down memory lane. Turns out, some of the Rudolph puppets that were used to make the movie are still around. Sadly, many of them melted in an attic. But the two originals that survived, both Santa and Rudolph, have been on quite a journey since they were first made for the movie.

Despite the damage these two puppets received, the original owner was able to sell them for a pretty good price. Thankfully, this new owner was able to get them perfectly restored. From there, Santa and Rudolph found a new home once more… but that didn’t last either. Before long, they were being auctioned off for $287,000.

But the person who spent all of that money didn’t want to keep the puppets for himself. Instead, he selflessly donated them so that folks from all over can appreciate them. Their new home? The Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, Georgia. Here, the art of puppetry is preserved and celebrated. In fact, you can see the Santa and Rudolph puppets on display right now!
“I’m crying over these little guys, what a great story,” someone shares in the comment section of the video, another adding, “I feel like that’s what I would do with my money if I were rich.”
