CBS Axes Jeff Glor, Climate Correspondent Ben Tracy, Two Others in Layoffs

Late Tuesday, word broke via Puck’s Dylan Byers that CBS Saturday Morning co-host, former CBS Evening News anchor, and longtime network mainstay Jeff Glor was being laid off as part of cost-cutting measures by parent company Paramount that aims to trim roughly 15 percent of its U.S. workforce. Along with Glor, Deadline and others have shared that other on-air cuts include longtime consumer correspondent Anna Werner, climate correspondent Ben Tracy, and correspondent Roxana Saberi. The Daily Mail, the New York Post, Deadline, and the Los Angeles Times to name a few have been on the case. The Post had this to say about why Glor was let go: “A source close to the situation speculated that Glor’s salary was ‘too high’ and that he largely kept to himself, opting not to play ‘office politics’ or stick his neck out much since being moved to weekend duty.” To be honest, if you were shoved out the door of your network’s flagship newscast and moved to Saturday, would you dive head first into the razor-sharp claws or stormy seas of office politics, (which also recently befell another great in Catherine Herridge)?  The Post noted that Norah O’Donnell “convinced then-CBS News president Susan Zirinsky to give her Glor’s job and move the ratings-challenged broadcast from New York to Washington, DC”, but made matters worse with the CBS Evening News losing 25 percent of its ratings. We wrote both during his tenure and prior to his ouster in May 2019, Glor was perhaps the fairest network news anchor Donald Trump could have asked for as his newscast was significantly less anti-Trump from both a tonal and statistical perspective than ABC’s World News Tonight with David Muir and NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt. For example, a perusing of our archives would reveal headline after headline of our Nicholas Fondacaro that began with “ABC, NBC” followed by the bias. Hopefully Glor lands on his feet. NewsNation would be a fitting destination. Tracy had been with CBS News since 2008 and had spent the last few years focused on climate change, such as cheering climate thugs blocking traffic and harassing conservatives, touting doomsday reports, and heralding the Biden White House’s electronic vehicle boondoggle. Werner had been with CBS since 2011 after decades as local CBS stations. Our NewsBusters archives showed she had some real doozies, such as traditional defenses of abortion, fawning over the radical leftists behind Seattle’s infamous CHOP, and an ironic take nearly ten years ago in October 2014 warning about a “conservative” school board shaping curriculums For Saberi, she definitely had some laughs, such as repeatedly hawking deranged climate activist Greta Thunberg (here and here) and gave the Iraqi president a platform in 2019 to attack the U.S., but she had some terrific moments too as a general correspondent. In 2021, she was on the ground in Afghanistan covering the deadly and disastrous U.S. withdrawal, but was eventually forced to flee out of an abundance of caution for her own safety. The next year, she gave voice to Iranian women bravely standing up to the Islamist regime during major protests. And, following the toxic train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, Saberi has spent more time on the beat than perhaps any correspondent across the “big three” networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC. It culminated in CBS News Streaming Network giving her space to film an hour-long special about the fallout that continues to leave a community in economic, mental, and physical ruin.

The View’s Biden Gushfest: 'Etched in the History Books as Washington’

ABC’s The View proclaimed they made “history” on Wednesday by treating President Biden to a tongue bath of an interview where they largely ignored policy discussions and tough questions about his failures. Instead, they gave him a gushy retirement celebration where they repeatedly thanked him for what he’s done to America, with cast members calling him “one of the most substantial presidents of the past half century,” and proclaiming “his legacy will be etched in the history books as [George] Washington.” The nauseous praise started from the get-go with moderator Whoopi Goldberg declaring that Biden had “stepped up to lead us out of the dark of a very divisive era and became one of the most substantial presidents of the past half century.” Pretend moderate Sara Haines kicked off the questions by opining about how he “decided to step aside from seeking re-election putting your country first above any personal ambition and passing the torch” to Vice President Harris. “What have these past two months felt like, and are you at peace with your decision?” she wondered. “I am at peace with my decision,” Biden said before making fun of his age. “Now, I know I only look 40, but I'm 180 years old. I’ve been around forever.” He also seemed to strangely suggest that he was so busy being successful that he forgot not to run again: And – but what happened was, we were having so much success in getting things done that people thought we couldn't get done, I found myself having used more time than I would have ordinarily to, you know, pass that torch.     Faux conservative Alyssa Farah Griffin followed up on this by asking him about the “perception” that he was forced out the race by the likes of Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) (Click “expand”): FARAH GRIFFIN: Mr. President we all agree at this table it was very selfless of you to pass the baton and step aside. There was a perception that perhaps your hand was forced and at some point fingers to Speaker Nancy Pelosi who you have a long relationship with and accomplished many things with. Did you feel that your hand was forced and what is your relationship with speaker Pelosi now? BIDEN: My relationship is fine. Look, I -- I never fully believed the assertions that somehow there was this overwhelming reluctance of my running again. I didn't sense that. And although the polling and everything said Biden's polling was different, the fact of the matter is my polling was about, you know, was always within range of beating this guy. And -- but what I did was, I think there were -- it makes sense. There were some folks who would like to see me step aside so they have a chance to move on. I get that. That's just human nature. But that wasn't the reason that I stepped down. I stepped down because I started thinking about it. Further on the matter of Biden being forced out, Goldberg raged at Democrats for having their infighting out in the open for Americans to see before they pushed him out. “Listen, I didn't like the way they did it. I’m just going to say it out loud, cause nobody says it out loud,” she said with a righteous indignation. “I didn't like the way it was done publicly. I thought they could have done this in a different way because we didn't need to hear all the inner fighting. I didn't like it. I'm saying it to you. You were my ride or die. I was going wherever you were going, that's where I was going,” she told their guest. Continuing with the same kind of dehumanizing rhetoric that had led to two assassination attempts against former President Trump, Goldberg equated the former President to “a bug” and Biden acted out crushing him: GOLDBERG: Then he just wouldn't go – he was like a bug. He just kept being there – he was like a – like a bug right there Bzzzzzzzzz. So you felt – [Biden slaps the table] [Cheers and applause] BEHAR: Slap him down. “That's what was needed and you did it,” she praised. “And I just want to say thank you, but thank you for everything you've done in my entire lifetime.” Goldberg later added: “You have been extraordinary for the country, and we are so proud to have had you at this table, more than once, but to have you here at this table as the president of the United States.”   Here's some more pic.twitter.com/TTQgy8ui6w — Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) September 25, 2024   Fake Republican Ana Navarro thanked Biden from the bottom of her heart for making a bunch of DEI hires for his cabinet and other parts of the federal government: You gave us a very diverse cabinet. You gave us the first black woman in the supreme court, you gave us Kamala Harris, the first woman vice president. You gave us Becerra, Cardona, Mayorkas, Guzman, all the people. So thank you, thank you, thank you for that. At the end of the show, they went around the table and gave their parting praises. Staunchly racist and anti-Semitic co-host Sunny Hostin (the descendant of slave owners) called Biden “warm and wonderful” and suggested “his legacy will be etched in the history books as [George] Washington, as someone who put that ego aside and put his country first. That’s definitely his legacy.” According to Haines: “He's so decent. He is a good man and reminds you of the times you could look up to politicians and they were called to serve and they were good people.” The transcript is below. Click "expand" to read: ABC’s The View September 25, 2024 11:13:46 a.m. Eastern WHOOPI GOLDBERG: So, welcome back. After 50 years of proud public service, President Joe Biden stepped up to lead us out of the dark of a very divisive era and became one of the most substantial presidents of the past half century. We are beyond honored to welcome the 46th president of the United States to our table, President Joe Biden. (…) 11:15:19 a.m. Eastern SARA HAINES: I'll get us started. So, Mr. President, it was only two months ago that you decided to step aside from seeking re-election putting your country first above any personal ambition and passing – [Applause] -- and passing the torch -- AUDIENCE MEMBER: We love you, Joe! [Cheers and applause] HAINES: It's like having one of the Beatles at the table! And you passed the torch to Vice President Kamala Harris. What have these past two months felt like, and are you at peace with your decision? PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: I am at peace with my decision. Look, when I ran for the first -- this – for my – for this last term, I said that I was -- I foresaw myself as a transition president. Transitioning to a new generation of leadership. Now, I know I only look 40, but– [Laughter ] but I'm 180 years old. I’ve been around forever. And – but what happened was, we were having so much success in getting things done that people thought we couldn't get done, I found myself having used more time than I would have ordinarily to, you know, pass that torch. (…) 11:19:15 a.m. Eastern ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: Mr. You know, it's hard to think about -- I know you're only 30 [Looks to Farah Griffin]. [Laughter] But it's hard to think of -- it's hard for me to even say how old I am. No, I'm serious. JOY BEHAR: Why is that? BIDEN: I give my word. It’s like, holy God, that can't be right. [Laughter] That just can't be right. BEHAR: I'm your age, by the way. The number gives you vertigo. BIDEN: No, you're not. BEHAR: Yes, it does. I am. I’m in your age. BIDEN: No woman close to me is as old as I am. None. BEHAR: I’m telling you sir [inaudible]. GOLDBERG: Right now they are. [Laughter] FARAH GRIFFIN: Mr. President, do you think that have you stayed in the race, you would have won? BIDEN: Yes, I was confident I would beat Trump. GOLDBERG: Listen, I didn't like the way they did it. I’m just going to say it out loud, cause nobody says it out loud. I didn't like the way it was done publicly. I thought they could have done this in a different way because we didn't need to hear all the inner fighting. Is didn't like it. I'm saying it to you. You were my ride or die. I was going wherever you were going, that's where I was going. [Applause] So, I just wanted to say that because I always felt you were going to probably do four years and then try to figure out where to go with Kamala. Then he just wouldn't go – he was like a bug. He just kept being there – he was like a – like a bug right there Bzzzzzzzzz. So you felt – [Biden slaps the table] [Cheers and applause] BEHAR: Slap him down. GOLDBERG: That's what was needed and you did it. And I just want to say thank you, but thank you for everything you've done in my entire lifetime. [Cheers and applause] ANA NAVARRO: I want to say thank you to you as well, because, you know, one of the things you promised when you came in, you said you were going to have an administration that looked like America. And with so many other things, you delivered. You gave us a very diverse cabinet. You gave us the first black woman in the supreme court, you gave us Kamala Harris, the first woman vice president. You gave us Becerra, Cardona, Mayorkas, Guzman, all the people. So thank you, thank you, thank you for that. (…) 11:47:39 a.m. Eastern GOLDBERG: I have to tell you, our thanks to you for coming and sitting with us. BIDEN: Oh, come on. GOLDBERG: You have been extraordinary for the country, and we are so proud to have had you at this table, more than once, but to have you here at this table as the president of the United States. BIDEN: Well, I'm proud to be here. (…) 11:52:51 a.m. Eastern GOLDBERG: I don't care what y'all wrote on that monitor. I'm talking about what we just did. How wild and wonderful was that? BEHAR: It was exciting. It really was great to have him here. And he's very -- he's kissy -- he's like an affectionate guy. I love that about him. SUNNY HOSTIN: So, warm and wonderful. I know we talked a little about his legacy but I truly believe that his legacy will be etched in the history books as Washington, as someone who put that ego aside and put his country first. That’s definitely his legacy. HAINES: He's so decent. He is a good man and reminds you of the times you could look up to politicians and they were called to serve and they were good people. It feels like sadly right now it's a bit of a dying breed in what we're seeing but I believe that people like him can be, you know – HOSTIN: And he still believes in this country. FARAH GRIFFIN: I was very struck by the fact that his love for the country but also thinking about the international community and how much America's role impacts the world. NAVARRO: I've known the man for almost 30 years, and he has never changed. This is a man who’s never been affected by the trappings of power. It's always been about service. And yesterday when he said, when he talked about leaving power and the need to leave power and he said it in front of the U.N., I thought it was so significant. (…)

Americans Actually Trust the Media Far Less than They Say They Do, Study Shows

Americans trust the media even less than they’re willing to admit, a comparison of what they say publicly and what they think privately reveals. Polls have long shown low trust of the media – especially when it comes to election news - with more recent surveys showing that their trust is continuing to continuing to decline. However, results of a new national study of American adults, conducted by the think tank Populace with the help of Gradient and YouGov, suggests that distrust of the media is actually much greater than traditional polls have found: “In general, Americans are overstating their trust in the media. Whereas 24% of people publicly agree they trust the media to tell the truth, in private only 7% truly believe it.” …. “Results from every generation reveal a double-digit gap between what people are willing to say publicly and what they privately think.” Thus, while about one in four Americans say they trust the media, only about one in six truly do trust the news they’re being fed. By age group, the gap between claims and actual beliefs is largest for Millennials (26 percentage points) and smallest (but still considerable) for Gen Z respondents (12 percentage points). “Democrats are the least forthcoming in their evaluations of the honesty of the media,” the study finds, reporting that 42% say publicly that they trust the media, but only 9% do so privately (a 33-point gap). Republicans and Independents are less likely to trust the media – and more willing to admit it, among political affiliations. Just 3% of both groups actually trust the media, but about one in six say they do, resulting in roughly a 16-point gap. Black Americans show the largest gap (23 points) among racial groups between what they say and what they really believe about the media’s trustworthiness, the study finds. While 29% of Blacks say they trust the media, a mere six percent actually do. Asian Americans are the most likely to both have (16%) and publicly profess (32%) trust in the media. The gap for other racial groups ranged from 14-17 points, with the percentage that privately believe they can trust the media in the single-digits for each. Populace’s Social Pressure Index study is based on a nationally representative sample of American adults, including more than 19,000 completed responses. The study aggregates respondents’ answers to a series of indirect questions regarding their beliefs to determine their “private” beliefs, then contrasts that with their answers to direct questions about whether they agree or disagree that they trust the media to tell them the truth.

We recommend picking a name that you like and one that fits your cat’s personality. If you’ve only just met your cat, this can be challenging. You may want to spend some time observing your feline before considering a name. You can also choose your cat’s name based on physical characteristics. For instance, if your cat has pretty distinctive markings, you could choose a name based on them. Names based on eye color are also popular. TV shows, books, and movies can also be wonderful sources of inspiration. People often name their cats after popular characters. Preferably, you should keep your cat’s name relatively simple. You want your cat to be able to recognize it easily. A one- or two-syllable name often works best for this reason. You should also avoid names that sound like common commands or your other pet’s names. Once you’ve decided on a few names, try each one out. It takes a week or more for a cat to learn their name, so you won’t confuse them by testing a name out for a day or so. Sometimes, names sound great on our heads, but they don’t work so well in practice. Conclusion We hope that one of these names stood out to you as a great option for your feline—or at least inspired you to think of a name of your own. Feel free to pick a few names to try. As we’ve said, you won’t confuse your cat by giving a few names a try before you select a name that works best. Either way, these names should provide plenty of inspiration from which you can draw. Whistleblower: Kamala SILENCED the truth about terrorist border crossers

Aaron Heitke is a former chief Border Patrol agent at U.S. Customs and Border Protection — and he’s just testified before Congress that the Biden-Harris administration ordered the government to conceal the true nature of the illegal immigration crisis. “In San Diego, we had an exponential increase in significant interest aliens. These are aliens with significant ties to terrorism,” Heitke told Congress. “Prior to this administration, the San Diego sector averaged 10 to 15 SIA arrests per year. Once word was out the border was far easier to cross, San Diego went to over 100 SIAs in 2022, well over that in 2023, and even more than that registered this year. These are only the ones we caught,” Heitke explained. Heitke also revealed that he was told he “could not release any information on this increase in SIAs or mention any of the arrests.” “The administration was trying to convince the public there was no threat at the border,” he added. Liz Wheeler of “The Liz Wheeler Show” is disturbed. “You heard that statistic? Ten times as many illegal border crossers who have ties to terrorism under Kamala Harris and Joe Biden compared to President Trump. Ten times as many. And Kamala Harris tried to shut him up, told him he couldn’t talk about it,” Wheeler comments. “Kamala Harris didn’t want the public, you and I, to know,” she adds. Mother notices son is sweaty — then she makes grisly discovery on her property that makes her cry out, 'What have you done?'

Authorities caught a registered sex offender from Texas on Saturday after an intense and massive manhunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies. As it turns out, the suspect's parents tipped off authorities after his mother made a horrifying discovery on her property. The mother told deputies with the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office that she walked out of her home and noticed her son standing looking “very sweaty,” as reported by KWTX-TV. 'This guy who we believe committed this horrible and brutal murder was sentenced to 40 years. He served approximately 10 years, was paroled out, and then committed this horrible crime. He never should have gotten out, but he did.'The woman said she attempted to walk around her son — 36-year-old Richard Tanner Ozment — but he stood in her way. The mother claimed she had to push him out of her way.But that was far from the worst of it.The affidavit states that the woman spotted a human foot behind a recreational vehicle on her property in China Springs. As the mother walked to the area behind the RV, she reportedly discovered a severely wounded woman.According to court documents, the mother asked Ozment, “What have you done?” He reportedly replied, “She tried to stab me.”The mother frantically ran inside her home, and Ozment’s father called 911. China Spring firefighters were the first to arrive at the grisly crime scene and noticed a man running away from the home.First responders treated 38-year-old Michaela Brooker, who was suffering from “extensive injuries, mainly, to her head,” according to the affidavit. Brooker was airlifted to a hospital where she was pronounced dead as a result of her injuries.McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara said Ozment used a machete-like weapon to kill Brooker.By the time police arrived, Ozment had fled the crime scene. Law enforcement assembled a major manhunt to track down Ozment, which included the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office’s SWAT Team, the Waco Police Department’s K9 unit and drone support, the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Game Wardens, and Texas Department of Criminal Justice Tracking K9.Roughly 10 hours later, deputies riding on horseback and accompanied by K9s tracked down Ozment. He reportedly was hiding in a stock tank about a football field away from the bloody crime scene.McNamara said he believed Brooker’s murder arose from a “domestic disturbance” but did not reveal the exact relationship between the victim and Ozment.Ozment was charged with murder and is being held at the McLennan County Jail on a $1 million bond. “This is one of the most horrific, brutal, and senseless attacks that we have seen in a long time,” McNamara said, “It never should have happened. This guy who we believe committed this horrible and brutal murder was sentenced to 40 years. He served approximately 10 years, was paroled out, and then committed this horrible crime. He never should have gotten out, but he did.”A Waco Tribune-Herald article published in March 2015 reported that Ozment, then 26 years old, was sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to burglarizing five area churches and two homes. The outlet noted, "The charges against Ozment were enhanced to first-degree felonies because of a juvenile adjudication for aggravated sexual assault in 2004 and a felony terroristic threat conviction in 2007."In 2013, Ozment was arrested after complaints that he was taking pictures outside China Spring Elementary School. While in custody, authorities discovered Ozment was not in compliance with sex offender registration requirements.Like Blaze News? JD Vance bashes Harris for choosing biased MSNBC host for second interview: 'This is legitimately pathetic'

Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance torched Vice President Kamala Harris (D) after she announced that her second interview would be with a liberally biased MSNBC host. The Harris-Walz campaign announced that the presidential candidate would be interviewed by Stephanie Ruhle, a former editor and news anchor for Bloomberg News. Harris has been criticized for refusing to answer questions from reporters since she seized the nomination from President Joe Biden. 'Kamala runs from tough questions because she can't defend her record.' Vance pounced on the announcement to hammer his political opponents. "This is legitimately pathetic for a person who wants to be president," he wrote on the X platform. "Ruhle has explicitly endorsed Harris. She won't ask hard Qs. Kamala runs from tough questions because she can't defend her record. If you want open borders and high groceries, vote for status quo Kamala."Others pointed out that Ruhle had recently been very vocal in her support for Harris and vehement opposition to Trump while defending Harris for refusing to answer tough questions from the media. "Kamala Harris is not running for perfect. She's running against Trump. We have two choices," said Ruhle while a guest on Bill Maher's show. "And so there are some things you might not know her answer to," she added. "And in 2024, unlike 2016 for a lot of the American people, we know exactly what Trump will do, who he is, and the kind of threat he is to democracy." Ruhle's interview with Harris will be broadcast Wednesday evening. Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

Claymation horror adventure The Midnight Walk announced for PC

One of the most striking games featured in last night's State of Play event from PlayStation was The Midnight Walk. Created by MoonHood, a new studio formed by developers responsible for Lost in Random, Fe, and Ghost Giant, the game channels the eerie storybook feel of Little Nightmares, Darq, or Fran Bow. It's a fantastic, confidently grim-looking game with excellent creature designs, and, luckily, we've just learned that it's now confirmed to launch not just on PlayStation, as yesterday's announcement stated, but also on PC.
