The International Brotherhood of Teamsters announced that it would not be endorsing any candidate for president for the first time since 1988. The union made the decision after revealing polling of union members had overwhelmingly rejected the Democratic ticket. 'I’ve employed thousands of Teamsters, and I thought we should come over and pay our respects.'In an electronic member poll after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race, 59.6% of union members said the union should back Trump while only 34% said they should support Harris. In a research phone poll after the two conventions, 58% said the union should support Trump while only 31% said they should support Harris. "We strongly encourage all our members to vote in the upcoming election, and to remain engaged in the political process," read a statement from Teamsters president Sean O'Brien. "But this year, no candidate for President has earned the endorsement of the Teamsters' International Union."The astounding decision is seen as a victory for former President Donald Trump's efforts to pull away unions from the Democratic Party. The former president met with union leaders in January in a bid to obtain their endorsement, and in July, the Teamsters president gave a stirring speech at the Republican National Convention."Usually a Republican wouldn’t get that endorsement,” said Trump in January. “But in my case it’s different because I’ve employed thousands of Teamsters, and I thought we should come over and pay our respects.” Trump choosing U.S. Senator JD Vance of Ohio as his running mate was also seen as a gesture toward gaining the favor of unions because of Vance's support of tariffs and protectionist economic policies. "For the short time we've worked together, he's been great on Teamster issues," said O'Brien on Fox News. "He's been right there on all our issues." The union had also made campaign donations of $45,000 to each of the party's conventions, the first time the Teamsters had done so in 24 years. A spokesperson for the Harris campaign released a statement about the Teamsters decision. "As the Vice President told the Teamsters on Monday, when she is elected president, she will look out for the Teamsters rank-and-file no matter what - because they always have been and always will be the people she fights for," said Lauren Hitt. Republican Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas used the decision to hit Democrats on the issue of illegal immigration. "The Teamsters—and all workers—know that President Kamala would invite tens of millions more illegal aliens to lower wages for Americans. Following a recent Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on stemming the rise in hate crimes and anti-Semitism in the country, Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) was surrounded by members of Code Pink, a left-wing activist group.According to the organization's website, it is an anti-war, "women-led grassroots" group founded in 2002.'You've got blood on your hands from the Uyghurs, every single one of you.'A video shared by the Daily Caller News Foundation captured members of the organization gathering around Hawley as he left the hearing on Tuesday. Hawley slammed the activists for the group's ties to the Chinese Communist Party."You are funded by Chinese money," he told them.One protester asked, "Who funds you?""Not China," Hawley remarked. "AIPAC [American Israel Public Affairs Committee]? Pro-Israeli lobby groups?" the protester continued."There we go, there's the anti-Semitism," Hawley responded. "You are funded by Chinese money," the senator continued. "You've got blood on your hands from the Uyghurs, every single one of you."Hawley called the protesters a "disgrace.""It's a privilege to be protested by you terrible people," he added. "You're China-funded liars and racists, and it's a privilege to stand against you."Earlier this year, the same group confronted Hawley while they rallied to call for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war. In response to the confrontation, the senator told Fox News, "Code Pink are paid-for protesters funded by the Chinese Communist Party. Their money comes from China. It's laundered through a bunch of dark money groups, and then it goes to Code Pink.""These are people that can't even admit that the Uyghurs are in internment camps, concentration camps, and yet they say that Israel is a terrorist state? Give me a break," Hawley said, calling the activists "astroturf wackos." An oversight investigation conducted by the House Committee on Natural Resources last year claimed that Code Pink has ties to the CCP."On August 5, 2023, the New York Times reported that Code Pink 'is part of a lavishly funded influence campaign' that 'works closely with the Chinese government media machine' to promote the agenda of the CCP. Code Pink is purportedly funded by Neville Roy Singham, a self-proclaimed socialist and current 'benefactor of far-left causes,' who is now based in Shanghai, China. Photos show Mr. Singham regularly meeting with officials from the CCP, including at CCP propaganda forums," a House committee letter read.Code Pink did not respond to Blaze News' request for comment.Like Blaze News? Colorado police said a library media teacher was charged with child abuse after they obtained video of the man putting a 6-year-old student in a headlock outside of the school. Greeley police said they were made aware of the incident by administrators at Greeley-Evans School District 6 on Aug. 30. The district placed 40-year-old Joshua David Wainscott on administrative leave after learning about the allegations. An affidavit obtained by KDVR-TV said that Wainscott was captured on video putting the child in a headlock outside of Maplewood Elementary School. Officers said that students were lined up outside of the school when Wainscott grabbed a child by wrapping his arm around the student's neck and taking him inside of the school. The student reportedly told police that the teacher tightened his grip after the student tried to kick him to get out of the headlock. This caused the student to experience difficulty breathing. Officers said that they tried to speak to Wainscott but that he declined to make a statement. He was arrested at his home on Sept. 11. The teacher was charged with second-degree assault on a child victim, a felony, as well as the misdemeanor charge of child abuse. KDVR also obtained a letter that was sent to parents of students at the school explaining the arrest of Wainscott. "District 6 immediately contacted police, who conducted the investigation. Under state and federal law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty," the letter read. The district said Wainscott had worked at the school for 14 years."The safety and security of our students and staff is always our top priority. We take these allegations very seriously and deeply regret any emotional or physical harm to a child under our care," they added.
