FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL—A key House committee has begun an investigation into Census Bureau overcounts and undercounts that favor Democrats in awarding congressional apportionment and Electoral College votes.  House Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., wrote Census Bureau Director Robert Santos on Wednesday to inquire about its communications about the overcounts and undercounts of state populations with the Biden-Harris administration and its Commerce Department, which includes the bureau. After the 2020 census, the Census Bureau’s 2020 Post-Enumeration Survey, or PES, released the following year identified significant errors in the counts. Such miscounts did not occur in the 2010 census, Comer noted in his letter to Santos.  “Significantly, these errors likely led to an erroneous apportionment of representatives among the states,” Comer wrote in the letter, a copy of which was obtained by The Daily Signal. “Even relatively small differences in population count can affect congressional representation, as a single congressional seat cannot be divided among multiple states.” “Undercounts or overcounts can be the deciding factor between a state gaining or losing an additional representative in its delegation,” the Kentucky Republican wrote. A Census Bureau spokesperson did not respond to an inquiry for this report before publication. The miscounts disproportionately favor Democrats, Comer wrote to the Census Bureau director.  “The 2020 PES identified statistically significant overcounts in New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Hawaii, Delaware, Minnesota, Utah, and Ohio, while finding undercounts in states like Texas, Florida, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Illinois,” he wrote. “Of the eight states overcounted in the 2020 census, six states have typically voted for electors for the Democratic Party candidate in presidential elections for the last three decades.” Comer’s letter continues:  Of the six states undercounted in the 2020 census, all but one have tended to vote for electors for the Republican Party candidate in elections over the same time period. Because of the 2020 census’s failure to accurately count, Colorado gained a seat it did not deserve, Rhode Island and Minnesota kept seats they should have lost, and Texas and Florida were not awarded seats they should have gained. MSM Hypocrisy Alert!  On today's CNN This Morning, Kasie Hunt bemoaned "the public partisan finger-pointing" over the second assassination attempt on Donald Trump. Hunt then proceeded to . . . point her finger at the victim, Trump! Hunt did stop short of saying, "ya had it coming, Don." But Kasie did say: "It is impossible to pull apart what we have seen from Donald Trump, the level of the rhetoric that he has injected into this campaign, and the actual events we have seen in terms of how the levels of violence in our political system have risen in recent years." Then, the Wall Street Journal news team became the latest MSM member to join the keeping-clueless crowd when it came to the suspect's motive.  Earlier this week, we caught Kasie claiming, "We obviously don't know very much at this point about a potential motive here. And we may never know about that."  The following day, it was MSNBC's turn, with Jonathan Lemire on Morning Joe saying: "We don't know what's in the mind of this suspected suspect arrested in Florida . . . There's sort of incoherent ideologies for [him and for the shooter in the first attempt.]" CNN This Morning panelist Annie Linskey of the Wall Street Journal, said today: "We don't know the motive of either one of these shooters, right? I mean, we just don't." As we noted yesterday: "There's nothing incoherent about Routh's ideology or his motives. He has used the Democrats' favorite line about "democracy on the ballot." Routh is a registered Democrat who has donated 19 times in recent years to Act Blue, the Democrats' main donation outfit. He has written of Trump, "I will be glad when you gone.”   That should give Linskey and the rest of the clueless crowd . . . a clue. Here's the transcript. Crush free speech ahead of the 2024 election? Two Democrat senators appear to be trying to push Big Tech to do just that. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) wrote a Sept. 17 letter to the CEOs of Meta, Alphabet (Google), X, Discord and Twitch. The lawmakers aimed to “express our persisting concerns about the spread of election-related disinformation on your platforms” this election year and urged the companies “to prioritize taking decisive action, including bolstering content moderation resources,” or, in other words, censor users. Klobuchar and Warner fear-mongered about undefined and alleged “disinformation” online. “Your companies are on the frontlines of the risks to our democracy posed by online disinformation and technology-enabled election influence, and it is for these reasons that we urge you to prioritize taking action to ensure that you have the policies, procedures, and staff in place to counter and respond promptly to these threats,” the senators insisted. Millions of voters view alleged “disinformation” on social media, the senators claimed. Rejecting the idea that voters should be able to access information freely and form their own opinions, the senators also zeroed in on a rapidly developing technology – artificial intelligence (AI). AI, the senators wrote, “has the capacity to turbocharge the spread of disinformation.” The letter vaguely claimed that “disinformation” online could “erode trust and confidence in our democracy.” But doesn’t undermining the First Amendment pose an even greater threat to our democratic republic? The senators cited testimony to Congress from various officials on the subjects of AI and so-called disinformation to support their pressure on Big Tech, including from Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director Christopher Wray. But the FBI has been exposed both in The Twitter Files and in a recent letter from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg as having also pressured Big Tech companies to censor free speech related to the Hunter Biden laptop scandal and “Russian bots” — even in collusion with the Ukrainian government’s intelligence. Zuckerberg admitted the censorship in his letter. In light of these revelations, Klobuchar and Warner’s attempt to remind the Big Tech companies that “the Intelligence Community has warned about growing efforts by Russia and Iran to sow discord using online platforms” rings hollow. After all, an American online movement for disillusioned Democrats, #Walkaway, was censored before and after the 2020 election. It was falsely linked to Russian bot activity and Congressional pressure was exerted on Twitter, per The Twitter Files. Klobuchar and Warner claimed to be “safeguarding elections” from “election-related misinformation, disinformation, and foreign influence efforts” and asking the same from Big Tech, but their request for content moderation reveals the true goal. The senators ended by requesting information on how many staff at the Big Tech companies are focused on censorship, what “additional measures, policies, or procedures” have been implemented to censor content (especially AI content), and if “legitimate media organizations” were consulted in policy updates. But it’s not the first time Klobuchar and Warner have worked against the American principle of free speech. In October 2021, Klobuchar pressured a YouTube executive at a Commerce Committee hearing to state how many COVID-19-related videos the platform had deleted — over one million. Klobuchar also introducedlegislation in 2022 to address “misinformation” online.  Warner prodded Twitter to find more Russian accounts in the aftermath of the 2016 election even when there was not much to find, according to The Twitter Files. He again urged Big Tech to censor alleged “Russian information operations” online in 2022. MRC and members of the Free Speech Alliance warned Big Tech in an August letter that this sort of pressure from the left would come and not to cave to the left’s calls for election-interfering censorship. “We know that governments across the world are pressuring tech firms to interfere in the 2024 elections just as so many of you did in 2020,” FSA members wrote in the letter. “Now is the time for you to affirm that you will not bow to this coercion and to reaffirm your commitment to providing fair and even-handed service to your customers.” Conservatives are under attack. Contact your representatives and demand that Big Tech be held to account to mirror the First Amendment while providing transparency, clarity on “hate speech” and equal footing for conservatives. Florida’s Amendment 4 would essentially legalize abortion up to the point of birth — and among other things, it’s on the ballot this November. Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon has donated $100,000 of his own money to convince Floridians to vote no on the amendment and keep the Sunshine State pro-life. “The biggest thing that’s going to make a difference in whether or not Amendment 4 gets passed is whether people understand what’s in it,” Dillon tells Jill Savage and Matthew Peterson of “Blaze News Tonight.” However, Dillon explains that the “way the amendment is crafted is very conniving and misleading.” “It’s intentionally written as this very vague thing that sounds like it’s just allowing for abortion up to the point of viability,” he continues. “A lot of people think that’s a reasonable thing, and so it has a lot of support.” The amendment claims it will simply create a constitutional right for abortion up to the point of viability, but it’s worded to allow more.
