ABC News anchor David Muir has seen a significant drop in ratings for his nightly news broadcast, “World News Tonight,” since moderating last week’s presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. During that debate, which is likely to be the only matchup between the 2024 nominees, Muir and co-moderator Linsey Davis were roundly criticized for throwing in with Harris. While they allowed her to push debunked talking points and verifiably false information, they repeatedly fact-checked Trump — even though in a few cases, their “fact-checks” were not accurate. On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of last week — the three days immediately following the debate — Muir’s “World News Tonight” averaged 6.7 million viewers, according to a report from the New York Post. That’s a 12% drop in viewership from the 7.6 million viewers Muir averaged prior to the debate this year. Muir did retain his spot at the top of the ratings despite the drop-off. In the week since the debate, critics have called out ABC over the obvious bias displayed by both moderators during the broadcast, noting that in addition to Muir and Davis only fact-checking Trump, they also only pressed him with follow-up questions. Trump has also complained on several occasions about how unfair the set-up was, arguing that throughout most of the event, it had been “one against three.” “It was so one-sided,” he said. The former president said that Harris should have also been fact-checked if the moderators were going to be fair and honest about it. “Every one of them should have been questioned by David Muir, who I’ve lost a lot of respect for. Everyone’s lost respect for him.”

A federal judge released an alleged cyberstalker in Tennessee who identifies as transgender and made threatening statements aimed at a Christian school. McKenzie McClure, a woman who identifies as a man and goes by Kalvin McClure, made a concerning call to Nashville, Tennessee’s, Christ Presbyterian Academy (CPA) in March of this year just days before the anniversary of the Covenant School shooting, when a transgender-identifying woman killed six victims, including three nine-year olds. McClure, a former student of CPA, left a voicemail for the school where she referenced a Marvel movie in which a character returns to an orphanage where he was raised and kills a headmaster who was abusive. The message caused CPA and nearby Currey Ingram Academy to close the following day and resulted in McClure being arrested by federal agents a month later for alleged cyberstalking. Now McClure has been released from federal custody by U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Chip Frensley. The judge heard from mental health professionals at an East Tennessee mental facility called Pasadena Villa where McClure was being held. The professionals attested that McClure is now taking her medicine, is no longer delusional, and is remorseful. One CPA parent, however, explained that he asked the court to keep the alleged cyberstalker in federal custody. “I didn’t think there would be any response that could stop her if she was determined,” he told The Tennessee Star. McClure will now receive out-patient care while living at home with her parents near the school. The alleged cyberstalker also has a history of making concerning statements on social media. “Also Bill Lee knows if he makes one wrong move it’s Joever for him and my 4th grade teacher… i.e., his WIFE,” McClure wrote in one post on X. “I’m here. I’m QUEER. GET USED TO IT,” she wrote in another post.

However, rehab wasn’t easy for the young star. She admitted during TMZ Investigates per Fox, “I was 19 years old, and I was in rehab for the first time and I just wanted to run – it wasn’t clicking. I didn’t get it. I’d never felt more insecure or hated myself more.” Luckily, Matthew Perry was there for her. Kelly recalled how he came over to her and placed a chip in her hands. The chip read, “Three minutes.” She continued, “He could see that I was struggling, and he walked up to me, and he gave me a chip, and it said ‘three minutes,’” she remembered. “He told me, ‘If you can get through three minutes, you can get through anything.” Kelly Osbourne admits that Matthew Perry’s chip got her through rehab. “That chip got me through that day, which then got me through the next day, which then got me through the next day,” she said. “And I’ll never forget that.”  Matthew Perry Will Be Missed While Kelly was saddened by the news of Matthew’s passing, she unfortunately admitted that she was not surprised. She said, “I wish I could say that I was surprised by his death. I was shocked because he’s like the last kind of person you’d ever want to have this kind of life.” While she is thankful for his help in her finding her sobriety, she recognizes that for the majority of those struggling with addiction, “It ends in three places – jails, institutions or death.” She added, “When you think about how much pain he must have been in, it’s devastating.” He and the light he brought with him into this world will surely be missed.
