White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby wrote Wednesday that there is “no use responding” to a “handful of vets” involved in the Afghanistan withdrawal debacle. Fox News obtained an email sent with that message by Kirby on the anniversary of 9/11 as a “reply all” likely meant for his staffers. “Clearly, I didn’t realize you were on the chain,” Kirby said about his initial email, Fox reported. The high-profile spokesman sent the email about not responding to some military veterans to address questions from Fox News about Kirby’s providing cover for the Biden-Harris administration on its hurried departure from Afghanistan in August 2021.  That departure, which descended into chaos as U.S. troops left the country, left 13 Americans dead while the Taliban took over Afghanistan and gained more control than the militant Islamist movement had before the 9/11 attacks that originated there. DAILY CALLER NEWS FOUNDATION—A Georgia judge tossed two counts against former President Donald Trump on Thursday in the case brought by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. Although Judge Scott McAfee of the Fulton County Superior Court declined to throw out the whole indictment under the Constitution’s supremacy clause, he found that some charges did “lie beyond this state’s jurisdiction,” including the two counts against Trump and another against his co-defendants. Willis indicted former President Donald Trump and 18 others in August 2023, alleging that they interfered in the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. “President Trump and his legal team in Georgia have prevailed once again,” Steve Sadow, lead counsel for Trump in the Fulton County case, said in a formal statement. “The trial court has decided that counts 15 and 27 in the indictment must be quashed/dismissed.” McAfee tossed counts 14, 15, and 27 of Willis’ indictment, which contained allegations related to filing false documents in federal court. As a whole, McAfee found the indictment is “within the scope of state authority under the appointment powers granted in Article II, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution and the police powers reserved by the states in the 10th Amendment.” “Nor is the subject of the indictment so inseparably connected to the functioning of the national government that it is barred entirely by the supremacy clause,” McAfee wrote. “However, because counts 14, 15, and 27 lie beyond this state’s jurisdiction and must be quashed, the defendants’ motions to dismiss the indictment under the supremacy clause are granted in part.” McAfee tossed six other counts in March, including three against Trump. In June, the case against Trump was put on hold while the Georgia Court of Appeals weighed defendants’ bid to disqualify Willis. McAfee had allowed Willis to remain on the case in March, although he found “a significant appearance of impropriety” in her romantic relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, whom she hired. The defendants alleged that the district attorney financially benefited from appointing Wade. Willis awarded Wade a contract that paid $250 an hour. At the same time, Georgia’s top racketeering expert was making $200 an hour. Willis claimed she paid all three special prosecutors on the Trump case the same rate, the Daily Caller News Foundation previously reported. On Wednesday, White House National Security Council communications adviser John Kirby inadvertently included Fox News Digital in a dismissive email ripping four military veterans on the 23rd anniversary of 9/11 as unworthy of responding to for their criticism of the Biden-Harris withdrawal from Afghanistan, adding they were merely a “‘handful’ of vets...and all of one stripe”. In the e-mail, he wrote back to White House officials this in regards to Fox’s request for comment on what was said by Congressman Cory Mills (R-FL) and three others: “Obviously no use in responding. A ‘handful’ of vets indeed and all of one stripe.” Kirby, whom many (including this page) have said is closer to being on the straight and narrow with doses of honesty than others in the regime, showed his partisan freak flag with this message and his subsequent lack of an apology. Instead, he merely wrote in a separate message to Fox News Digital upon realizing the error: “Clearly, I didn’t realize you were on the chain.” Whether it was out of a fear for losing him as a guest or source or simply not thinking it’s a serious news story, Kirby’s smear was not mentioned by ABC, CBS, or NBC during their Thursday flagship morning news shows. Outside of that, the only mentions have come on multiple Fox Business and Fox News Channel programs as well as Newsmax. And Kirby was nowhere to be seen during Thursday afternoon’s White House press briefing. “[T]op White House advisor John Kirby catching some flak for dismissing the concerns of veterans on the anniversary of 9/11,” teased Fox News Channel co-host Dana Perino on Thursday morning’s America’s Newsroom. With the chyron “Critics Blast Kirby for Dismissing Vets’ Concerns”, co-host Bill Hemmer said Kirby was “facing heat today for dismissing veterans’ concerns about the Afghan withdrawal”.     After reading the e-mails, he brought in Mills by offering this about Kirby: “I think Kirby’s a straight shooter. I think he’s good guy. He joins us often here on this program, but that’s — that’s one he would like to take back, I’m sure.” Mills was ready to fire back, noting he probably “would like to take” that email “back just like when he said the Afghan withdrawal wasn’t really that chaotic and that it was the greatest, most successful airlift operation, though he didn’t want to talk about the 60 or 70 percent of those airlifted who had no biometric, who had with no Visa status and being brought into the United States and not to mention...the 13 Gold Star families who don’t feel like it is a great success.” “[W]hile I respect his service to our — our military, he has become a mouthpiece for the Biden-Harris administration and he is continuing to dispel all the truths while covering up all the lies. And so, I just — you know — I think it is time for, as veterans, to call him out on these things,” he added, noting he and others will continue to challenge him.

A judge narrowed the number of charges against former President Donald Trump on Thursday related to allegations of election interference in Georgia. Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee dismissed two counts against Trump and another against his allies on the basis that state prosecutors did not have the authority to file the charges. 'Trump and his legal team in Georgia have prevailed once again.' Steven Sadow, Trump's lead attorney in the Georgia case, released a brief statement on social media. "President Trump and his legal team in Georgia have prevailed once again. The trial court has decided that counts 15 and 27 in the indictment must be quashed/dismissed," he wrote. The dismissed charges alleged that false documents had been filed in federal court. However, Trump will still face eight other charges related to the alleged scheme to overturn the official results of the 2020 election in Georgia. He and 14 co-defendants have pleaded not guilty to the allegations. Trump's attorneys had previously filed a motion for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to be removed from the case for fomenting "racial animus and prejudice against the defendants." The court agreed to hear arguments for her removal in December. Willis has been accused of lying about details related to an improper relationship she had with Nathan Wade, who was removed as the special prosecutor in the election interference case. A 78-year-old former Santa Claus impersonator is accused of sexually abusing girls as young as 5 years old and faces 13 counts of child abuse, according to authorities in North Carolina. Bevier Hasbrouck Sleight III was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual abuse, abusive sexual contact, offensive touching, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor on Aug. 29. 'I'm just amazed and shocked.'Law&Crime reported that Sleight sexually abused two girls between March 2023 and March 2024. Sleight performed oral sex and digitally penetrated the girls aged 5 and 6, according to the criminal complaint.Court records said the alleged crimes took place at Sleight's home, which is less than a mile from Santa’s Land Fun Park and Zoo in Cherokee. Sleight, who sports a long white beard, reportedly had portrayed Santa Claus at Santa’s Land Fun Park and Zoo.The Christmas-themed amusement park says on its website: “Your kids will be excited to visit Santa at his own summer home in the Great Smoky Mountains. They can sit with and tell Santa all their Christmas wishes, and will receive their own ‘Good Conduct Diploma'!"An anonymous grandparent reportedly brought a grandson to Santa's Land on Aug. 24 but is now "disgusted" because the grandparent gave the child's name and address to receive a letter from Santa Claus. “It was just a good memory for me with my grandparents to go, and I wanted to make those memories with my grandson,” the grandparent told WLOS. “I’m like, 'Hey let’s go see Santa,' so we went into Santa’s house. He stood in there and talked to [my grandchild] for a little while."At the end of the visit, they were asked if they wanted to purchase a letter from Santa to be sent to the boy around Christmas time. They agreed and wrote the grandchild's name and address on an envelope. The grandparent said, “Who wouldn’t want a surprise letter from Santa Claus?” The grandparent added, “I was disgusted, you know, and then it was just instantly, 'I want my envelope back, I don’t want him being exposed to my grandson's address.' It’s disgusting, it sickens me, and to know that he’s doing this to young children who are right around my grandson's age.” Sleight’s arrest for child sex crimes floored local residents. “I'm just amazed and shocked. I would have never thought that,” neighbor Kim Lambert told WLOS. “I have a lot of grandchildren. So, it’s very shocking. He’s just really always been a super nice person.”Santa's Land Fun Park and Zoo confirmed to the New York Post that Sleight no longer works there. However, the amusement park did not provide Sleight's final date of employment. A spokesperson at Santa's Land told WOLS the park has no comment at this time.WLOS reported there was a connection between Sleight and a woman who recently was arrested for an alleged violent act of child abuse. On June 5, Caroline Roland was arrested and charged with 11 counts, including child abuse, maiming, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and inflicting serious injury.Roland severely injured a 5-year-old girl by smashing the child’s hands on a table, causing “multiple broken bones to each hand on multiple different digits,” according to court documents obtained by WLOS.Roland, 39, allegedly picked up the girl and threw her to the ground and repeatedly slammed her face into the floor until she stopped breathing.The child needed CPR to be resuscitated and required an emergency craniotomy, according to the criminal complaint. The girl allegedly suffered a brain hemorrhage and additional injuries were found all over her body at the hospital.According to WLOS, the Cherokee Indian Police Department said Sleight was a "customer" of Roland, who allegedly ran a child trafficking ring. However, neither suspect is currently facing any trafficking-related charges. Police told WLOS that the trafficking investigation is ongoing.Roland remains in the Cherokee County Detention Center, and her next court date is scheduled for Oct. 23.Police said Sleight is not out on bond, but court documents showed there is a secured bond set at $75,000 with electronic monitoring.Like Blaze News?
