CNN Lets 10-Year Olds Claim People Want To Shoot Them For Being Transgender

CNN National Correspondent Lucy Kafanov has a rainbow flag emoji in her Twitter handle and was wearing rainbow gloves on Wednesday, but CNN Newsroom still thought she was an appropriate choice to send to the Supreme Court to cover oral arguments in U.S. v. Skrmetti, the case that seeks to answer whether Tennessee’s ban on so-called “gender-affirming care” violates the Constitution. In addition to some horrifically one-sided reporting, Kafanov also sought to shame Tennessee and its supporters by rolling out 10-year-olds who identify as transgender to claim that they are in danger of being murdered. To anyone unaware of Kafanov's activist stance, she quickly made it clear which side she supported simply by how she described the two sides’ supporters, “At this moment, it's a bit of a battle of the loudness of the microphones. We're sort of closer to the group that is denouncing this kind of gender-affirming care for minors. Further down, you see a much larger, more colorful group of people who are supporting the kids who are at stake in this case.”     She then lamented, “Americans who identify as transgender make up less than 2 percent of the entire population. But especially in this electoral campaign, they have taken on this outsized role. They’ve become caught in the crossfires of this culture war and we’ve actually been spending time with some of the families and the teenagers and the kids who are-- be impacted by these bans, by these laws.” Kafanov then set up an interview session she recently conducted, “We spent time with three families who traveled on their own dime, missing school, missing work to be here in D.C. all the way from Arizona to have their voices heard because they feel that there are a lot of politicians, lawyers, talking heads, discussing their rights, they’re not being heard from themselves, and I want to give you a sense of what one 10-year old Violet DuMont told me when I asked her what it feels like to be a transgender kid in America today. Take a listen.” In a clip, Kafanov asked, “What concerns have you had about speaking out?” DuMont replied, “That I'm going to be, like, murdered. Like one day I'm going to be walking down the street and somebody's going to come up and, like, shoot me or something.” Back live, Kafanov continued to bat for those seeking to overturn Tennessee’s law, “And one of the things that all of these families emphasize is gender-affirming care, things like hormones, puberty blockers, these are deeply personal, intimate decisions that they are making with their pediatricians, with their psychiatrists, with the children over the course of many, many years.” Most people would say that 10-year-olds having passionate opinions is not the same thing as possessing wisdom to make profound life decisions, but Kafanov is not most people, “These are not, you know, willy-willy decisions that they're making carelessly and for these children, it's a chance to be who they truly are. These 10-year-olds told me they have no doubts about their gender identity. They are exhausted about having to continuously defend who they are and to argue for their very right to exist, Jim.” Host Jim Acosta agreed, “Yeah, your heart goes out to those kids when you listen to those comments.” The whole thing was a reckless bit of “journalism” from CNN. There are legitimate questions and concerns about giving minors gender-altering care. Raising those does not mean you favor shooting anyone and citing children as experts is just an intellectually lazy way of demanding people shut up. Here is a transcript for the December 4 show: CNN Newsroom with Jim Acosta 12/4/2024 10:28 PM ET LUCY KAFANOV: At this moment, it's a bit of a battle of the loudness of the microphones. We're sort of closer to the group that is denouncing this kind of gender-affirming care for minors. Further down, you see a much larger, more colorful group of people who are supporting the kids who are at stake in this case and, look, transgender Americans, Americans who identify as transgender, make up less than 2 percent of the entire population. But especially in this electoral campaign, they have taken on this outsized role. They’ve become caught in the crossfires of this culture war and we’ve actually been spending time with some of the families and the teenagers and the kids who are-- be impacted by these bans, by these laws. We spent time with three families who traveled on their own dime, missing school, missing work to be here in D.C. all the way from Arizona to have their voices heard because they feel that there are a lot of politicians, lawyers, talking heads, discussing their rights, they’re not being heard from themselves, and I want to give you a sense of what one 10-year old Violet DuMont told me when I asked her what it feels like to be a transgender kid in America today. Take a listen. What concerns have you had about speaking out? VIOLET DUMONT: That I'm going to be, like, murdered. Like one day I'm going to be walking down the street and somebody's going to come up and, like, shoot me or something. KAFANOV: That's a really scary thing to be worrying about at ten years old. DUMONT: Yeah, that should not be a worry. KAFANOV: Michelle, what's going through your mind as you hear your daughter say this? MICHELLE CALLAHAN-DUMONT: It's just hard to hear her say that. KAFANOV: And one of the things that all of these families emphasize is gender-affirming care, things like hormones, puberty blockers, these are deeply personal, intimate decisions that they are making with their pediatricians, with their psychiatrists, with the children over the course of many, many years.  These are not, you know, willy-willy decisions that they're making carelessly and for these children, it's a chance to be who they truly are. These 10-year olds told me they have no doubts about their gender identity. They are exhausted about having to continuously defend who they are and to argue for their very right to exist, Jim. JIM ACOSTA: Yeah, your heart goes out to those kids when you listen to those comments. Lucy, thank you very much.

Parental rights activist sounds alarm about in-school clinics that medicalize kids without parents' knowledge

Dozens of public schools across Maine have opened in-school HealthReach Community Health Centers that offer students birth control, vaccines, mental health care, and possibly sex-change drugs. Some parents have taken issue with the federally funded medicalization of their children's schools, especially since Maine law allows clinics to administer certain drugs and services to kids without parental consent — an opportunity that has already been exploited. HealthReach assistant director of operations Diandra Staples admitted in October that just last year, seven out of 181 students kept their parents in the dark about services rendered at the clinics, reported WGME-TV. "They'll probably remain confidential for their safety or because they may not have support at home," said Staples. Alvin Lui, president of the parental rights advocacy group Courage Is a Habit, is sounding the alarm that following months of controversy and debate, a Maine school board "snuck" in a vote for Dec. 5 to install one such federally qualified health center in its district. "They have to submit their agenda within 5 business days. They waited until Thanksgiving Eve hoping no one would be paying attention through the Thanksgiving holiday weekend," Lui told Blaze News. "If by chance a few parents realize it Tuesday or Wednesday, it would be too late to alert the community. That is what this MSAD 11 school board was counting on." The "possible approval to host a Health Clinic at Gardiner Area High School in the 2025-2026 school year" is on the agenda for the Maine School Administrative District No. 11 board's Thursday meeting, where Staples is scheduled to give a presentation. 'All will happen immediately, without parental consent.' "We were fortunate that amazing on-the-ground parents we work with were monitoring, knowing how unethical this school board is," added Lui. When asked about the admitted instances of "confidential" student visits and whether parents will increasingly be kept in the dark about their kids' medicalization, Lui said, "They are doing the, 'It's not happening, it's not happening that much, but it's good it's happening a lot,' line of dishonest manipulation. The reason they gave for the seven children they had to treat without parental consent (parents are 'unsafe and abusive') will be the same reason they give for the next 70 children, the next 700, and eventually all children whose parents do not agree with transgender ideology and/or birth control." "This is the same blueprint they used for keeping transgender secrets in schools and the Transgender Trafficking Bills we've been fighting," added Lui, referencing legislation like Maine's LD 227. Although Courage Is a Habit and other parental rights activists were successful in defeating an earlier version, Gov. Janet Mills ratified Democratic state Rep. Anne Perry's LD 227 in April. LD 227 — which Lui previously referred to as the "Transgender Trafficker Protection Act" — prohibits "interference" with abortions or sex-change mutilations, protects medical practitioners from lawsuits, and conceals the known whereabouts of interstate child runaways from their parents, among other things. Michelle Tucker, a newly elected member of the school board who has spoken out against state-mandated policies for transvestic students, noted in October, "They are children, and maybe they're not mature enough to make these decisions without parental support." Lui suggested that whereas parents might be willing to push back against various medical interventions at school, "Children of any age will be paired with an affirm-only counselor or therapist to put them on the transgender path. Children will be given binders and tucking for transgender reasons. Girls will be able to obtain any and all types of birth control. All will happen immediately, without parental consent." "Ultimately, all medical decisions will be made within school grounds, without parental consent, and all that will be needed is someone at the clinic to deem the parents 'unsafe and abusive,'" added Lui. Blaze News reached out to the MSAD 11 superintendent's office as well as to HealthReach for comment but did not receive responses by deadline. When the idea for the clinic at the Gardiner Area High School was first floated, Lindsay Hammes, spokeswoman for the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, said in a statement to the Kennebec Journal, "The school-based health centers enhance educational outcomes for students by limiting missed instructional time for external appointments, reducing absenteeism from chronic conditions, and decreasing disciplinary actions among students needing behavioral or medical support." Ahead of the vote Thursday, Courage Is a Habit created an online form that community members can use in the final hours before the vote to deluge the board with emails expressing their concerns about the initiative. English soccer star warned by officials for writing 'I love Jesus' over Pride armband

Soccer player Marc Guéhi and his team received an official warning from league officials after he wrote a religious message on his arm band.Guéhi is the captain for Crystal Palace, a team in England's top division, the Premier League. Each team has one player on the field wear a designated captain's armband, with teams all assigned a rainbow armband to show "support for LGBTQ+ inclusion in sport" last weekend. However, Guéhi, a devout Christian, decided to write "I love Jesus" on his armband. This prompted a warning from England's Football Association about wearing religious messages on a jersey.'He's no child, he's an adult, he has his opinion and we respect it.'According to ESPN, the FA's uniform rules state that "the appearance on, or incorporation in, any item of clothing ... any political or religious message" is forbidden and "disciplinary action may be taken" for any breach of the rules. The rules also state that "for any offence the player and/or the team will be sanctioned by the competition organizer, national football association or by FIFA."While Guéhi will avoid a fine, his Crystal Palace manager was quick to reaffirm that his team stands for "integration" not "discrimination.""Everyone now is about integration, no discrimination and Marc as well," Oliver Glasner said. "We spoke about it. He's no child, he's an adult, he has his opinion, and we respect it."Specific rules surrounding the armbands also exist, and the guidelines state players must "wear an armband, which is simple and conforms to the requirements ... relating to slogans, statements, images and advertising."The rainbow armband campaign comes from Stonewall, a gay English charity that says it stands for "lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer, questioning and ace (LGBTQ+) people everywhere."While it is indeed odd that the sexuality-driven campaign is not considered political or religious, Guéhi was not the only player to take a stand during the set of weekend games.Ipswich Town captain Sam Morsy, a practicing Muslim, refused to wear the rainbow armband and instead wore a typical plain black version. Ipswich Town's Sam Morsey refused to wear a rainbow armband, while Crystal Palace's Marc Guéhi wrote 'I love Jesus' on his.Photo by Shaun Botterill/Getty ImagesShockingly for Morsy's decision, the FA claimed it was a club matter and did not issue a warning.Ipswich Town still issued a groveling statement."Ipswich Town Football Club is committed to being a fully inclusive club that welcomes everyone." "At the same time, we respect the decision of our captain Sam Morsy, who has chosen not to wear the rainbow captain's armband due to his religious beliefs," the team continued."We will continue to grow an environment where all are valued and respected, both on and off the pitch."Like Blaze News?
