Trump Is Absolutely Smoking Kamala In Famous Philadelphia Cookie Poll

Former President Donald Trump is absolutely trouncing Vice President Kamala Harris in the traditional “cookie poll” held by Lochel’s Bakery in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania — a suburb of Philadelphia. During presidential elections, Lochel’s bakes cookies that are decorated with the candidates’ names — and then keeps track of how many of each candidate’s cookies they sell leading up to Election Day. Lochel’s Bakery in suburban Philadelphia makes special cookies during election season with the candidates’ names on them. President Trump leads Comrade Kamala 4,228 to 369. “That is not a typo.” pic.twitter.com/MwztOx34nL — Trump War Room (@TrumpWarRoom) September 10, 2024 The bakery’s owner revealed the latest tally during a news segment that aired Tuesday morning on the local CBS News affiliate — just hours before Trump and Harris were set to face off in their long-awaited ABC News debate in Philadelphia — and it was not even close. “You’ve sold thousands already, and I know you’ve baked thousands in preparation for tonight,” the reporter began. “Everyone wants to know: what do the sales maybe tell us about who might win the election in November? Talk to me about sales.” “Well, the sales, the red is leading by a lot,” she replied. “By a lot … the tally was just updated, you’re new to see it, but almost by 4,000 cookies.” The totals, according to the boards posted in the shop, said that 4,228 Trump cookies had sold, compared to just 369 Harris cookies. Tremendous for us as a small business to produce this and sell this as well, and see the faces that are coming around to buy these, from all over,” she continued. “Just to stress, that is not a typo,” the reporter added. “Former President Trump with more than 4,000 cookies sold, current Vice President Kamala Harris with only about 400. So the Harris voters have got some work to do if they want to boost their numbers here.” The owner went on to say that there was no political motivation behind the “cookie poll” — but rather, it had been all about driving business. “I’m a small business and prices are really high right now,” she explained. “We’re seeing increases daily on eggs and butter and so these help get people in the door.”

Texas Hotel With Alleged Venezuelan Gang Activity Ordered Temporarily Shut Down

Texas Hotel With Alleged Venezuelan Gang Activity Ordered Temporarily Shut Down

A hotel in downtown El Paso that is allegedly occupied by a Venezuelan gang was ordered temporarily shut down by a state judge on Monday. The judge’s order came after the Gateway Hotel and its owner received a temporary injunction and restraining order from the El Paso County attorney on Monday over suspicions that the Venezuelan “Tren De Aragua” gang was engaging in criminal activity inside the hotel. Tren de Aragua made national headlines a few weeks ago after gang members allegedly commandeered an apartment complex in Aurora, Colorado. Police there have denied the gang controls the complex. Court documents say that police reports show the Gateway Hotel in El Paso has regular criminal activity, and members of Tren De Aragua have been allowed to operate inside, according to sworn testimony from El Paso police officers. One officer said police witnessed several Venezuelan men with tattoos associated with the gang walking around the hotel. Hotel management was not attempting to control the conduct of guests, the officer said. At least 693 calls to police have been made about the hotel over the last two years, including for drugs, thefts, burglaries, and fights. Tickets for “Am I Racist?” are on sale NOW! Buy here for a theater near you. The court documents also accuse the hotel of operating for the past six years without a valid certificate of occupancy and in violation of city requirements, as well as failing at least three inspections by the El Paso Fire Department since July. Security videos and pictures from the court documents also show people “partying” on the third floor, drinking, smoking, dancing provocatively, and one woman even apparently vomiting in a hallway with children around. One video also shows a gun being shot, a person threatening someone with another gun, men holding knives, and a man with a hatchet assaulting people in front of a security guard. One police officer said he suspected prostitution in the hotel. Police also described trash and fire hazards as well and said the general reputation of the hotel was for “allowing illegal activity (consuming drugs, gang activity, illegal dumping).” A hearing is scheduled for December 9 to determine if hotel owner Howard Yun allowed criminal activity on the property. The county attorney’s office sued the hotel last month and is seeking a permanent injunction to stop the hotel from operating until long-term solutions are in place. The Gateway Hotel has been in downtown El Paso since the 1920s, although it has changed ownership. The occupants of the hotel have until 10 a.m. on Thursday to vacate the building. It is unclear whether law enforcement will be required to evict those living in the hotel.

PwC to Track Employees’ Locations in Return-to-Office Crackdown

PwC to Track Employees’ Locations in Return-to-Office Crackdown

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has announced a major shift in its hybrid work policy, intending to track employee locations starting January 2025. This move is part of a larger crackdown on remote work, particularly aimed at ensuring that staff members adhere to an in-person working requirement of at least three days per week. PwC is not alone in this transition, as several major firms are rolling out similar strategies to bring more employees back to the office following the post-pandemic surge in hybrid and remote work models. This new policy will affect PwC's U.K. division, where approximately 26,000 employees are expected to adjust to stricter office attendance. Previously, employees were asked to be in the office or with clients two to three days a week. The updated guidelines now require a minimum of 60% of working time spent in person. The firm will begin monitoring employee locations using internal data systems, sharing this information with workers monthly to ensure transparency and compliance. PwC's U.K. Managing Partner, Laura Hinton, emphasized that the policy was designed with both client service and staff development in mind. PwC tells employees it will use location data to police 'back-to-office' rule https://t.co/l2prgU0Ryp — CTV National News (@CTVNationalNews) September 10, 2024 The move comes as more businesses, particularly in the tech and financial sectors, increase their efforts to rein in remote work. Companies such as Meta, Amazon, and JPMorgan Chase have made headlines with similar policies, encouraging or mandating more office time. Amazon, for instance, has warned employees that failure to comply could result in disciplinary action, including the potential for job termination. PwC's decision has sparked debates about the future of work, particularly in industries that embraced hybrid models during the COVID-19 pandemic. While some employees prefer the flexibility of working from home, companies are citing concerns over productivity and collaboration. The return to office is framed by many firms as essential for maintaining client relations, fostering teamwork, and enhancing opportunities for career development through in-person coaching and mentoring. PwC to start tracking working locations of all its UK employees https://t.co/iFqsikpgHT — Guardian Money (@guardianmoney) September 5, 2024 Critics of such policies argue that a forced return to the office could hurt morale and overlook the benefits of hybrid work, which many employees now view as a standard benefit. According to surveys, a significant portion of workers—especially in industries like consulting—report a preference for hybrid models, allowing them to balance personal responsibilities with work commitments. Nonetheless, companies like PwC are moving forward, balancing employee preferences with operational needs. The broader trend shows that the hybrid work era is under scrutiny, with many organizations evaluating its long-term viability. In a September 2023 global survey by research firm Leesman, 94% of respondents expressed satisfaction with hybrid arrangements. However, firms pushing for more on-site work suggest that remote setups may hinder business performance in the long run, particularly in client-facing roles. The policy is not without flexibility. PwC is giving its staff several months to adjust to the new rules, and exceptions can be made if employees consistently face challenges adhering to the three-day minimum. However, for those who fail to meet the requirement without valid reasons, stricter consequences may follow, signaling that companies are serious about enforcing in-person attendance. As businesses worldwide rethink their return-to-office strategies, it’s clear that the balance between employee preference and business necessity is still being fine-tuned. PwC's tracking initiative represents just one of many moves by corporations to regain a foothold in traditional office dynamics after years of pandemic disruptions. Whether this shift is embraced or resisted by employees remains to be seen, but it's clear that in-person work is far from obsolete in the corporate world.
